My favorite, absolute favorite thing about a fic is when the author replies to the reader's comments with long ass replies (and it is a huge part of the reason I don't like ffn, apart from the ads that is).

But, honestly, reading the author describe how they got to the scene or what their thought process was or what they were trying to express when writing that scene, is so incredibly satisfying to me.

It's like watching the behind-the-scenes of my favorite movie. I can't possibly explain the joy it gives me.
