Let me summarize the Z tweets about what happened to c!Ranboo: 

He was made by two entities out of love and one of their lives, and they sent him to this world after his adolescence hoping that he’d be safe. 

Unfortunately, because Ranboo wasn’t made for this world, instabilities happened and caused the events that led to their death.

Kristin noticed this and offered Ranboo a choice; either return to his family who made him and start anew, or save the most important thing to him and live in a place that’s not quite home but that he could survive in.

Ranboo chose to save what was most important to him, and he and Michael now live in the nether. Potatoes, strangely, grow where they live. Michael is around piglins just like him, and they are happy and safe.
