Re-watching HOTD 1x10 has made me realize just how incredibly OOC Daemon choking Rhaenyra is. Like wow! I remember it being bad but not THIS bad. Do I think Daemon is a saint? No, absolutly not, but he would never harm Rhaenyra. The writers just hate him and are trying to get the audience to hate him to, a problem that only gets worse in season 2. Again, Daemon is by no means a good person, but he is certainly not an abusive husband, and, despite what the hotd writers want you to believe, he would never betray Rhaenyra.

The role of cupbearer is an apprenticeship for a leadership position for a child as it requires them to be at the side of a high ranking individual as they navigate their position of power. As cupbearers, Rhaenyra was present for audiences and council meetings where she would have learned politics and administration from her father, the king, as well as the others who were present. Similarly, when Arya became the cupbearer of Roose Bolton, she witnessed war councils and political meetings. This on the job training was specifically intended within the narrative to prepare Rhaenyra to become queen regnant, while GRRM intentionally includes this as part of Arya’s ongoing training.

My unpopular opinions for season 1 and season 2 of house of the dragon:
1- The writers should've saved Rhaenyra's “exhausting, wasn’t it? hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness. but now they see you as you are” line for season 2. It would make more sense to some degree.
2-The character development of everyone , me and I'm pretty sure everyone else expected better. Making Aegon a r*pist was not something I had on my watchlist. They should've gave us him flying around the city with sunfyre.
3- The B&C scene. The acting was great but, they should've stayed with the book.
4-The writers making Rhaenicent more tragic than the death of characters. Like Jaehaerys went hi and bye.
