Personally, I'm really not too bothered if it doesn't follow canon - in fact, it might even be better that way, since you're able to develop your own stories for your own desires, and you can let your creative juices flow a bit. For instance, you mentioned that Raimon-cat doesn't have goggles, and that could also be worked into the story in some way to differentiate it from canon. Maybe she had goggles that she found in the street one day but it was destroyed in her many fights with other cat gangs, or maybe Haruno-cat finds a pair of goggles to give to her as a present to mark her softening up to her. Or they could never be mentioned at all. It's your story, and that's what makes it fun.

Straying (lol) from canon makes things a little more interesting - how will Umika and co. build a rocket as cats, if they do? If not, what's the goal of the group? How did Yuu get to Earth? How, if there is drama between the four (it's Hoshitele, it's probably going to happen), will it be handled? There's just so much you can do with this idea.

I've been thinking about this AU a lot and I love the little adopting storyline thingie between Haruno-cat and Raimon-cat, it's so adorable, especially the implication that Raimon-cat does love her buuuut is way too stingy/sulky/proud/you know what stray cats are like to admit it. I've been thinking of maybe writing a small thing for this but I'm kinda worried that it won't fit your views of the AU or that I'm intruding on your canon a bit lol.

Anyway, absolutely keep cooking! I can't wait to see what you'll come up with :D

After a bunch of months, I'm posting my art here again. Hoshikuzu Telepath, Raimon and Haruno-inspired cats! More info under the read more:

They're inspired by them, but they'll still be called those names even though they're not one-to-one. White bg intentional!

The idea is their personalities are the same but the setting/details are different bc I decided to go all the way. For example, (this) Raimon-cat is an actual stray cat who does everything on her own. Part of her ear is torn (from fights), she hunts, and she's MORE violent/wild.

I get to make stuff up as I please, so Haruno-cat is a house cat who basically comes across an injured (bleeding to death) Raimon and takes care of her (where she lives in a cozy home with her owner). Raimon doesn't care for house cats but she's forced to stay as she recovers.

That's the setting and it's one of those "tough one softens up after being shown kindness for the first time" stories. The story is about their daily life and interactions as Raimon recovers from her injuries. Backstory and personalities are revealed and they fall in love

It's fanfiction-tier but it's fun. I'm gonna draw all this in my sketchbook now but I might digitalize it or share pictures if I keep going with it xD I just wanted to draw them with their base colors though. Even I don't know what the inside of the house should look like

I'll brush up on cat anatomy more, but anyway

Other details: Haruno's collar doesn't have a tag because it's on the inside/behind the front. So the idea is you lift it and see name/details/etc. on the inside of it. There are no accessories; all stripes/etc are markings

Actually I did write a fic about how intimate Yuumika is, and I'm pretty sure you might be the "Bunny" guest who left a very long and heartfelt comment on it

I've been delaying art stuff cuz of rl matters but honestly Umika and Yu's relationship is seriously so romantic and I can't stop thinking about it lol

The way they admire each other so much and are so fond of each other (Yu especially is incredibly affectionate but then again, that's kinda just how she is).

But like. Imagine wanting to make a high school debut or something but being really nervous and then the exact thing (alien) you've been yearning for just bursts into your life. Yu is like legit Umika's "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" and it's so wild lmaooooo

Even if it turns out Yu was granted by Umika's wish or something, Yu is still a distinct person on her own and she's such a delight-- I love her so much. Anyway, they're so good and cute and I honestly can't ship them with anyone else, personally.

One thing I really like, for example, is when (ANIME SPOILER) Umika rejects Yu's attempt at foreheadelepathy that one time in the anime (END ANIME SPOILER), Yu doesn't take it personally or build resentment or get angry at her or anything. Instead, the next time she tries to do it, she realizes she should ask for permission first and just gets bashful.

Yu in particular is just so kind, sweet, and gentle with Umika and that's exactly what Umika needs imo. Some people need harsher words but other people need good foundations and support systems to be more brave.

Umika herself is incredibly kind and considerate and adorable and an angel and she never did anything wrong. I just think Yu and Umika totally deserve each other and regardless of how the audience feels about romance (I think it's awesome), the only thing they're really "missing" is just an exclusive declaration to each other lolol

If Sensei ever confirms it, I hope she'll do a Yuri on Ice "kiss scene" if anything at all. No idea if Sensei wants this too but if it ever happens, I'll be soooo hyped lol. At the moment, not expecting too much though even though the show is marketed as a yuri. xD

Thanks to circumstances (Cat!)Matataki can’t control, she meets (Cat!)Haruno. Oh well. Things could be worse, right?

OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCHHHH

Will color and line over them again later but if there's one thing that can keep me up, it's cats... 😂 Umika(t) is like the quintessential (cartoon) house cat to me-- she's even got that fluffy cheek look xD (intentional design choice ofc). I want to make sure the colors work together so that's why I wanna draw them carefully again like I did with the other two (Haruno and Matataki), but some design details:

instead of being a design, Yu just has those hairband beads over her ears for real I think. She's weird, so she can do whatever she wants lol

Umika's two front paws and the edge of her tail have the teal blue that she's known for. I decided to move it from her shoulders to her literal two front paws and I think I like it lol

Full colored version coming in 10 years I think 😂
