might be a little biased since im a half-closeted bucks fan lmao but you cannot tell me that these two men

who have gone through hell and back on the court together for like. how many years now? 8? 9? i cant count. nba seasons are weird lol

have nothing more than cordial mutual respect going on, both on and off said court.

tell me they're not besties Bare Minimum, and you have my permission to fight me in the nearest mcdonalds lol

plus i think they complement each other really well!! khris being the calm and collected "voice of reason" to keep giannis' more emotional stints in check. giannis emotionally warming his mans up with his kind and caring attitude (most of the time at least). both of them sharing that Competitive Drive™ and passion and determination both on and off the court. but also the willingness to hold each other accountable in case one of them dun goofed

like their journey at this point may as well be a fuckin. friends-to-lovers fic (or maybe rivals-to-lovers since i think there are stories of them competing against each other early on??) in the making and i am all for it 💚💛🤍

for some reason i don't vibe with it as much as everybody else does. more of "yeah it's cool" but not like "this will be the only thing in mind for the next week"

probably because it's a really popular ship and i have this weird. thing where i don't get as emotionally attached to really popular ships (e.g. this, or maybe steph/lebron). either that or the warriors are just really popular in general, so any combo of their players doesn't jibe with me as quickly as i would expect. like most of my salt could be attributed to them winning like 24/7 lol

plus it'd be nice for a change of scenery (even if it means i gotta be the landscaper for once lmao)

i do understand the appeal tho!! like they've been here for a really long time (so the chemistry is obv there) and they (among other factors) basically turned the warriors into the powerhouse they are in the present. i'll give them that.

also steph seems to be a really kind and nice guy off the court, which could complement a confident partner in klay (at least he's like that in my head). maybe he gives klay a reality check whenever he gets a little too cocky (something like he "4 rings" thing recently)

ignore draymond on the left lmao he's the overly confident third wheel who teases the entire roster 24/7 but gets mad when he's the one being teased

i feel like they'd have this thing going on where they'd have a few heated disagreements sometimes, though it doesn't derail their relationship completely and they're able to maintain something healthy 💙💛

thoughts on nikola/jamal

ok actually??? it's starting to grow on me. like i read 1 or 2 nikola/jamal fics on ao3 some time ago and went "wait. hold on yall might have a point"

im not as "foaming at the mouth"-y on the nuggets as with the bucks (like. the main reason i want them to win atp is because miami smoked my main bois 😭) but it's still really fun trying to explore the potential dynamics each player has with each other, just like with every other team!!

i guess i was blinded by my insistence on making jokic and fucking. aaron gordon friends since they were on the same draft class (like i have a triple drabble chapter feat. them in my drafts for a while now and now i just realized i need to work on that lol) that i didn't really get to see how jokic and murray would click together

and i guess they initially wouldn't since nikola would be kinda. aloof and just focused on hooping more than anything else, while jamal tries to warm him up to seemingly no avail? except nikola kinda secretly enjoys jamal's company, he keeps it to himself because he just. doesn't really know how to without making it look really awkward 😔

and then he starts emotionally struggling when jamal gets injured that one time, and nikola slowly but surely realizes how much he actually misses him being around. how much he misses that funky lookin smile of his, the little laugh that laughs at his occasional jokes. like.

he's got a Friend (maybe even more than that? 😳) but he doesn't want to admit jamal is more than just a teammate and he doesn't exactly know why,,, 😭

ok im getting a little dramatic here lmao but!! there's absolutely Something going on there but it's just. buried deep and it's gonna take some nugget bois opening up about their feelings and helping each other do so to get that Something out.

i could do both!! 2 birds with 1 stone.....

i haven't really thought much about luka and DSJ + how they'd go together, but i just caught up on it with an espn article about them and now i can see why some people like to ship em,,,

like these two guys were Made to be together, but apparently the mavs org thought otherwise 😔 im reading the article as of making this, and their head coach at the time even deadass accused DSJ of being jealous of luka like. i have never visited an nba arena but i feel like that doesn't help the locker room/competitive chemistry lmao

i imagine them to be like. really enthusiastic but also really protective of each other even as friends. like the team has to hope their passion cancels each other out and like. they eventually mellow out for the day. and That incident with the coach kinda. messes with their heads in the sense of "is our team seriously trying to tear us apart?"

ugh i just remembered when dsj (last time i checked, he's on the hornets now) hit a dagger against the mavs, and looking back, i wonder how lowkey kinda painful that was for both him and luka. just sending his mans to the brink of playoff elimination atp. ohmigod.

now luka and brunson??? i literally have a fic in the works where they settle down in a cabin for an out-of-town trip and Hijinks Ensue™, but i'll talk about it more (and maybe even share some excerpts? 👀) in my writing blog if i have the time and motivation!!

what i can talk about tho??? yeah jalen would definitely be the "rock" that finally calms luka down (most of the time) and grounds him to reality somewhat, but also goes with his flow a lot of the time because he's lowkey nah actually highkey having so much fun with him

like. at least early into his career...... maybe jalen's getting burnt out from being really organized and focused on what's important. then luka swoops in, kinda unknowingly teaches him about blowing out some steam every once in a while (though jalen quickly learns venting his frustrations to the refs' face might not actually be a good option lol)

just. in my head, luka is a social guy and generally doesn't like being alone. or at least he doesn't like not having somebody to talk to. to really like. be himself to. and having someone who's either just as enthusiastic about things as he is (DSJ) or a lot calmer but also caring about his general well-being (brunson) definitely helps matters 💙🤍
