My dad once told me about this group trying to reduce homelessness semi near where we leave

And every year they get together a bunch of money through donations and sponsors, and they help out as much people as they can, but the only people who really make it off the streets where the ones who were probably gonna do it eventually they just needed more time

So one year, after a bunch of thought and research and convincing their sponsors and donators they weren't crazy, they did the exact opposite

Pick the worst off person you can find and make sure they're permanently off the streets and into a home of their own with. Actually, kinda sad fact, one time when she wasn't at her home for a long time they found her in an alley cause she couldn't except that all this was hers and it wouldn't be taken away

That's a little besides the point, though I feel an important part of the story

The point, is how they were able to do this. While it's unfortunate it came up this, the only way they were able to help this person was by convincing all their sponsors and donators that helping her is in the long run cheaper then the cost of how often the cops get called on her

Which is what the care bear meme reminding me of

Oh and, as far as I've heard, they still run their program the same way to this day
