Han Ji Woo - Tumblr Posts

So, being the main character is discussed a lot in TMS2. Ji Woo tells Seo Joon that he thinks Seo Joon acts like he is the main character of a story while one of their arguments. Later on either Da Kyung or Sung Yoon (sorry I don’t remember exactly who said it in the scene) says that Ji Woo acts like he is the main character when they are gathered to watch the airing of the cooking episode with the other villagers.

I get it that Ji Woo got a lot of heat for his behaviour. But, I have just realised he kept on thinking of himself as a supporting character in Seo Joon’s story. Which he ultimately came to dislike because of his own insecurities/trauma/loneliness. While doing that he acted out on his own without taking an account of what Seo Joon felt (thereby acting like a main character in a way he could justify in his head by running away thinking the space will fix everything).

Last week I had read a beautiful post here on Tumblr about how TMS2 is actually a story of different perspectives. How if the leads were Ji Woo and Sung Yoon we would just be putting Seo Joon aside as a overbearing ex who can’t take a hint. That the real point of this seasons storyline is maybe about recognising we are all main characters of our own lives and it’s ok and it’s normal to feel so.

I’m sure I was going somewhere with this post. But it’s 4am and I can’t sleep so I’m sitting here and typing this.

But what I do know is this is the power of good writing. Hwang Da Seul is a genius.
