I want to see how many people have easy access to nature, as I assume most of tumblr lives in urban areas such as cities or large suburbs, and a lot of people seem to not know much about the native species of plants and animals in their area. I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.
I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."

HE CAN SQUEAK. HE SQUEAKED. I HAD TO PICK HIM UP AND I ACIDENTLY TOUCHED UNDER HIS THORAX (the long part of his body, aka his butt. I didn't squeeze don't worry) AND HE SQUEAKED I FEEL BAD. I did find put what kind of beetle he is, correct me if I am wrong, Lucanid Stage Beetle(as seen in ss and photo) but he's just a sweetie. He hasn't pinched me at all! I keep him well fed and I will be getting him a larger incloser filled with everything from his natural habitat(pine tree forest, atleast that's where I found him) I make sure his soil is nicely moist and not very dry. I don't keep it too moist though. He is well, he loves to climb up my arm. I tried to let him crawl on the ground(my room so no one would squish or injure him) but he didn't want none of it. Sorry my desk is so messy by the way.

HE FELL. HE FELL ON HIS BACK AND IT WAS A TWO INCH FALL. IT KNOCKED THE AIR OUT OF HIM HE SQUEAKED AND IT WAS SO SAD. he's still alive but I feel so bad, he's perfectly fine nothing is broken HE still has all of his appendages too, but my god do I feel like a shitty dude. I had to take him out to moisten up his habitat and after playing for a few minutes he fell :(. I'll do better I promise, he took it like a champ though! He's sweet and friendly, my best little beetle friend!(also my only beetle friend but it still counts!) Sorry if you all are tired of seeing Bernard, I have no other bugs, but I'll still keep posting even if you guys don't like it because more people should see him.

He had the zoomies today and I made a little cave in my hand and he tried to dig inbetween my fingers like he has nuzzling into me like a puppy!!! I was scared because I had to go to the beach and be away from him all day but he took it well. I got home and let him runaround, i moistened up his habitat, and let him run around more. He had a bunch if energy, I promise I'll get him a bigger habitat, I promise. When I get the money I'll make him the best habitat I can, with all the fermented plants and wood, rocks, dirt, lots of dirt he loves it so much he loves digging, I'll get him everything he needs. @grimmroach I told him, he was happy. ONE WEEK ANNIVERSARY OF MEETING BERNAD!!!!
As of Friday, marks the one week mark of me and Bernard meeting. I don't think it was the first time I posted about him but that doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. Do not worry, the background isnt his new home or habitat, it's a fake book I used to have a better background then my pasty let lol. I introduced him to a new texture, its a soft one dollar plushie, he wasnt a fan I think he was confused. But the moment I offered to let him off he was practically flying. I'm glad I can finally get him to crawl on things besides my hand. I'm sorry for not posting much, I've been helping set up and plan my friends college graduation party(she's a nurse). Thank you to all the people who reblog and like my post, it makes me feel excited and gets me all happy and giddy. I'm sorry for blurry photos my hands get really shakey, I'll work on it for you all. I hope you all enjoy the content I post.
BERNARD UPDATE
he's doing great, the red thing in the background is just a coaster I got at a thrift store. As for me I'm one step above rock bottom. Besides that, it stormed where I live after I got him his new habitat, so when it's no longer flooding in my yard he'll have a new home!! Updates are still gonna be slow unfortunately, I'm sorry.
