me and a friend where talking about how weird it was that Gregor was able to break Sandwiche’s sword so easily. Like that is a twelve year old boy against hard steel there ain’t no way. And while we came up with more logical answers, my favorite was the theory that everyone was pulling a prank on Gregor and gave him a fake bad sword as a joke and where going to give him the real one when he noticed. But he never did and everyone just assumed everyone else told him and years later they get talking about it again.

sometimes I’m normal. And sometimes I can’t sleep because I’m planing a video essay about the deep themes that Gregor the Overlander, a middle grade novel covers. Ie. colonization, child soldiers, the ethnics of war/murder, and the effects of war on people long after it’s over.
we talk about how deep the Hunger Games was but my God Gregor the Overlander has altered my brain chemistry permanently.
