so I realized something.

one of my favorite hobbies (besides being sephiroths full time simp) is art history and learning about different art styles from many time periods. my favorite is and always has been the Greco Roman period. I was looking at Greco Roman sculptures a couple days ago, and as I was looking at these ones in particular.

So I Realized Something.
So I Realized Something.

I looked at these and i saw someone else in them.

So I Realized Something.
So I Realized Something.
So I Realized Something.

like the side profile of this man screams Greco Roman to me with his sharper nose, strong chin, and full lips. especially head on too.

So I Realized Something.
So I Realized Something.

especially with the definition on the bridge of the nose and on the upper lip.

So I Realized Something.
So I Realized Something.

looking back on it, I think that these similarities between Greco Roman art and this beautiful man that has been a longtime figment of my childhood is what drew me in to playing more ff7 games that had him in it because of the fact he is the embodiment of my favorite art style 😘😘

Diana Awakening Apollo | Carl Bertling

Best painting of them two so far. Also, I'm really glad that it's Artemis and Apollo. If they would've been Selene and Endymion I would've commit arson.

Epione: The goddess of the soothing of pain and Asclepcius' wife;

Eucleia, Eupheme, Euthenia and Philophrosyne: Hephaestus and Aglaea's daughters;

Geras: Son of Nyx and the god of old age;

Hygieia: A daughter of Asclepcius and the personification of health, cleanliness, and sanitation;

Iaso: Daughter of Asclepius and the goddess of recuperation from illness;

Janus: Present only in the Roman Mythology, Janus was the god of doorways, gates, transitions, and beginnings and endings;

Apparently Tumblr is a place for people who like to complain about every shit, so here I am again.

How is it that we have planets, dwarf planets and moons named after a lot of greco-roman mythological figures but not for Hera or Athena? 93 Minerva is an asteroid you probably never heard of, whereas 3 Juno and Juno are an asteroid and a spacecraft, respectively.

Hermes has little Mercury. Hades has socially distanced Pluto. Even Demeter has a small planet between Mars and Jupiter called Ceres.

"B-but the Milky Way..." Exactly, the Milky Way. Literally our entire galaxy was named after the milk that squirted from her nipple when she realized that baby Heracles was sucking her breast. AKA that one moment when she was genuinely pissed off and probably one of those events she tries to forget.

How is naming a whole ass galaxy after such a myth comforting to her in any way?
