I'm telling you, with the satanic panic around DnD in the 80s there's only one reason Hellfire was able to stay at Hawkins High. Steve joined the PTA when the kids started and insisted the club be allowed still since his kids were in it. He would partially come to regret this decision when Dustin would go on and on about this Eddie guy but he wasn't going to shut down the club because his kids came first. He would definitely not regret his decision when Eddie eventually found out and made sure Steve knew exactly how grateful he was.
A particular type of Eddie I don't often see in steddie works that I would love to see more of is "Jealous and protective mean girl Eddie" when it comes to people hitting on his boyfriend Steve.
Like, Eddie trusts Steve, but he doesn't trust other people not to invade Steve's space or not take advantage of Steve's people pleasing nature.
He gets snarky, clingy and will start giving people the stink eye with very little shame or attempts to hide it.
