Time for another Infinity Runs excerpt because I have no self control and need validation. Context: we just met this cool family of a tired dad Ezra and cool thirteen year old brother Collin and rambunctious eight year old Fiona.

When the girl, Fiona, was a few branches from the ground, she locked eyes with Collin and grinned, showing a gap where her front teeth should be. Without thought, the girl let go of the rope and screeched happily.

Non was about to step forward when Collin smiled, already in motion to catch his sister as she fell towards the ground. She collapsed into his arms with a peal of laughter.

“What an entrance,” Ezra chuckled. He moved to take Fiona from Collin’s arms and twirl her around. “How’s my little bear doing?”

She wiggled happily in his arms.

“Good!” Her eyes grew huge, “I saw a huge deer pass under me earlier. It was taller than you, daddy!”

Ezra smiled and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Too big to eat then?”

She nodded, a furrow to her brow as she considered eating the deer, her lips pursed in a serious expression. “Way too big. It would take years.”

“Good call,” Ezra said solemnly, and Collin looked to be stifling a laugh. “Alright, little bear, can I introduce you to someone new? She’s here to help us.”
