I am at my orchestra practise rn so music instrument it is then

Jacob: he definitely learned the clarinet in middle school but now can't even get a sound out of it.

Emma: Saxophone. It fits her badass, old woman, Fire, oldtimer aesthetic

Bronwyn: Tuba or trumpet because it's so LOUND but also beautiful

Olive: maybe triangle because she is too impatient to learn an instrument. Or cello because just

Claire: Harmonica because she has two mouths lol. probably played the flute in the past but got bored.

Enoch: something deep so ig oboe or bassoon. But I have this weird feeling that he played the flute at some point

Jessica liked to take others peculiarities to mess with them. She almost burned the house down once, though, so she didn't take Emma's anymore. But sometimes she would take Bronwyn's when she had to lift something heavy, just to see her struggle for once.

It actually was mostly Enoch's idea. Her best friend was really something. Together they'd do all sorts of pranks on the others. The only peculiar she had left alone yet was Millard, the invisible boy. For obvious reasons. He was always walking around naked, and she didn't really want to see him without clothes.

Her best friend's humour was actually all that kept her from sinking into a loop of dark thoughts, and she was glad he was there.

As they sat down for dinner, Enoch noticed that Millard was surprisingly fully dressed. So he whispered to his friend next to him,

"Jess ! Millard's dressed ! Now's the time!"

After a moment of hesitation, Jessica closed her eyes and concentrated. And after a few seconds, she was invisible and Millard was visible.

Everyone was staring at him, and he stopped chewing to ask,

"What ? Do i have something stuck in my teeth ?"

"Millard ! You're not invisible anymore !" Cried Olive. He looked at his hands, frowned and then looked at Jess.

"You! Give me my power back, right now !" He leaped up, and started walking around the table to get to Jessica.

Both Enoch and Jessica got up as well, and they ran out of the house as quickly as they could. Jessica slowly became visible again, which surely meant Millard was invisible. After a while they stopped running, and Enoch burst out laughing.

"That was so funny !" He said, after his laughing fit was over.

Jessica frowned. "No, it wasn't ! I thought he was really going to kill me !"

"Well my plan worked, then." He answered, smirking.

"W-what do you mean ?" Jessica was starting to worry.

"Millard liked you, and i wanted to ruin that."

Jessica was getting more and more confused.

"What ? He liked me ? Why did you not want him to like me ?"

"Because i like you, Jess." He said, getting closer to her .

"Enoch, you egoist whiffle-whaffle saddle-goose!"

(Whiffle-whaffle. Meaning: A time-waster. )

(Saddle-goose. Meaning: A fool)

Enoch looked hurt, and just sighed before walking away.

And Jessica was left there, feeling lonelier than ever.
