This verse from Ecclesiastes is one of my favorite Bible verses because it is both really funny but also patently true!
Consider how many famous movie stars, politicians, and athletes that were once widely well-regarded are now fully departed from this world- and presently now in most cases are entirely forgotten. During their lives they were the “LIONS” of their age but now even a lowly barking DOG stands on the earth above while all those once powerful and great people are long gone and six-feet under.
The reality is that DEATH IS – in fact – THE GREAT EQUALIZER. If you are – or think you are – someone of 'importance' in this life because of your power, wealth, position of fame think again because one day like those mighty 'lions' of the past you will also be a distant memory in the eyes of the world. No one can escape physical death, but we all can escape spiritual death. Here’s why...
There was one MIGHTY LION, the “Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, (who has) conquered (death)” (Revelation 5:5) and that is Jesus. Because “Christ arose from the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:4), He became “the first of a great harvest of all who have died.” (1 Corinthians 15:20) who “led captivity (that were) captive” (Ephesians 4:8) out of the prison of the grave and up to eternal life.
Whether small or great in this life, we all can follow Christ, the ultimate LION, into an eternity of grace and blessing instead of the curse of eternal death and darkness simply by admitting that we are not worthy of being in God’s eternal presence because we are sinners. By simply asking Him to forgive you of our sins and earnestly believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9) you can be far above those left in the forever, forgotten darkness of the grave below.
If you have not done so, do this right now because outside of Christ before you know it, there may be a barking dog standing on your grave!

For many people, religion in general — (and Christianity in particular) — seems to be a very stupid idea. A popular sarcasm about it is that this 'faith' about drinking the blood and eating the flesh of a dead so-called 'savior' is about on par also with the lunacy and hatred these 'christians' espouse to those that do not agree with them while living lives that are totally hypocritical to the standards they so arrogantly preach. If that’s how you feel about Christians, then not only are you alone and on the same page as millions of others in the world, but with all due respect, you are also perfectly in line with the people in today’s picture — and here’s why.
First, if this is your view on what Christianity is all about, you’ve been influenced by TWO THINGS.
First are (indeed) a bunch of hypocritical church going do-gooders that you most likely have run into over time that like the idea of being 'holier-than-thou' but have no idea what being a true disciple of Christ really means and instead live by a legalistic list of rules that define what they consider 'godliness' — and I DON’ FAULT YOU ONE IOTA FOR YOUR TAKE ON THEM! However as today’s scripture points out it is not the hypocrisy of so called christians but a powerful agent that has been placed on your ability to see the true nature of God, His Word (The Bible) and His Plan for YOUR Life.
This blindness for those that do not see (maybe even you!?!) God’s attempt to speak to people a message of hope and good news about what can be yours in eternity, and that is escape from eternal DEATH and an offer of eternal LIFE. God desires to give the gift of eternal life, but Satan (aka as Lucifer, the Devil, and 'That Old Serpent') is trying to hide that from you...thus the blindfolds that are crossing out the cross. In fact Jesus says about Satan that his whole mission is to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY (John 10:10) and as long as you have that blindfold on, he will succeed at his mission and he will STEAL your gift, KILL your chance for eternal life and let you be DESTROYed eternally.
Only you can take off your blindfold — all I can do is tell you about it, but it is something YOU have to decide to do.
Will you decide to take off that blindfold today and see what God is offering??

We live in an amazing world of techo-gadgets!! Ballyhooed products from every area of technology have taken us into a future like the epic 60’s cartoon “The JETSONS” where flying cars, video telephones and robots serve us by voice command or with the touch of a finger. What was once science fiction now has become science fact.
Today many people can’t live without tech - and for many - even idolize it. Studies show that some people daily spend an amazing amount of 'screen time' watching videos, playing games, texting, of taking/sharing pics to the point of ignoring the world around them. Some even say that they can’t imagine life without it.
However, the Bible says that whenever you look to a person or thing that much, those ICONs become an IDOL. In fact, our screens are literally filled with ICONS, and for many touching these icons (e.g. social media, entertainment, or shopping) has become their whole life, and that icon becomes an idol that you cannot live without.
However as today’s scripture illustrates, as 'cool' as these icons of tech are, in the end, they are all worthless. That’s easy to understand just by remembering your first cell phone or PC when THEN it was the essence of 'cool,' but TODAY it’s backward and worthless. Likewise, all the things of this world will also pass away but in the grand timing of eternity, there is only one thing that you’ll never be able to live without and that is having the LORD God who made you.
There is nothing wrong with modern tech, but do not count on a Jetson-like world to bring you joy, because all these gadgets will eventually pass away, but God will NEVER pass away. Put your future and trust in Him because He — and not the idols of the world — is the only one that can bring you TRUE Peace, Tranquility and Oneness.

We’ve all seen signs of warning while driving, but the same can be said about seeing danger signs as we travel along the highway of life. We can try to ignore them, but at some point before this trip called 'life' ends you will have to make a choice if these signs are real or not. So the question for you is this - “Will you heed these warning signs or ignore them?” There is indescribable danger ahead in eternity and if you do ignore them you will arrive at a destination where there is NO ESCAPE OR EXIT. Once there, there is no backing up, no turning around, and truly - no exit. It is a one way street to a literal DEAD END of eternal condemnation that is without remedy.
The good news is that God has given us many signs that will direct us to the destination that He wants to bring us to, but to get there we have to read and follow the signs He has given us, and all the directions we need to navigate the highway of life are found in one 'road atlas,' and this is the Bible.
Jesus tells the story of a rich man trapped in hell where he regretfully realizes that there is NO EXIT. He is fully conscious of his past life and the wrong turns that got him there despite the signs he chose to ignore, and he begs that someone would go back to warn his brothers of this horrible dead end he has found himself. Sadly Jesus replies to him that all people are given signs that point away from hell and lead to eternal life - and ALL of those signs are in the Bible - the same Bible he chose to ignore.
The word repent means to change one’s mind so the question today as you travel down the road of life is this – will you pay attention to these warning signs to not go down the WRONG ROAD and change your mind to go in a safe direction? Turn away from the road that leads to a DEAD END and travel the straight road that leads to eternal life! (Matthew 7:14)
The choice is yours. Follow the road that leads to Christ! Heed the signs He has given and do not go down the path that most people follow that leads to destruction! (Matthew 7:13)

Did you know that everything we do outside of God’s will leave a black mark on our soul, but that the good news is that every single mark can be erased with the blood of Jesus?
Maybe you are asking how can the blood of anyone erase these marks? Well, the answer my friend is that the blood of Jesus bled out for you long before you were even born. He died 2,000 years ago on a wooden cross so that you would not have to wear those marks of sin and took all your sins upon Himself so that you could live eternally in heaven.
The blood of Jesus is pure and holy. When you come to know Jesus as your LORD and SAVIOR He washes all those marks of sin completely out of you and wipes every mistake of your life OUT just as if you never had them! When you receive this gift and accept what Christ has done for you, you will know deep inside that they are gone and you will have no desire to mark yourself in sin again.
There’s a wonderful old hymn called “Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus” that says: “What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! What can make me clean within? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! Oh, precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow. No other fount I know. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
If the world is pulling you and drawing you into sin that keeps continuing on and on in your life, stop right now and ask Jesus to come into your life. Come with all your heart and just say:
Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I surrender myself to you.
When you take that step and confess your sins to him, he will lead you to a fulfilled life. Allow the Lord to erase those marks you’ve been making on your soul. Give them to Jesus and Let Him Erase Them ALL...and He WILL!
The Apostle Peter wrote:
“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and spot.” 1 Peter 1:18
When you read the Bible, ask God to give you a deep desire to read, retain, and apply His WORD in your life. Then thank and praise God that He has made a way for all your sins to be forgiven. God has a better plan of hope, love, provision waiting for you when you decide to receive God’s forgiveness, and experience His love. Come and follow Jesus. Apply the SIN ERASER to your life!

Just as eggs go with bacon, peanut butter with jelly, and hot dogs with beans, the pair of MERCY & GRACE also go together and are God’s gift to all that want to receive it. Here’s why.
The Bible says that our sin is a debt (with compounding interest!) that we acquire in our lives that we can never pay back. The consequence for this liability is that every one of us deserves punishment and separation from God for our sins, but God has given us a 'Get Out Of Jail Free Card' that exempts us from the punishment we deserve! You see, the FINE of our sins has been paid for through Jesus Christ who took our sins upon Himself. He didn’t just pay a 'Bail,' HE PAID THE FINE! with this dual pair of MERCY & GRACE.
You see, it’s very simple!
MERCY Is NOT getting (the punishment) that we DO DESERVE (and) GRACE Is getting (the blessings) that we DO NOT DESERVE Friend, you can receive the 'Mercy & Grace' card simply by confessing with your mouth that you are a sinner, believing in your heart in what Christ did paying for your sins and rising from the dead, and start living your life for Him by HIS standards and ways - and not your own.
If you have not done this would you do this right now? Otherwise, TOMORROW is another day of compounding interest on a debt that Jesus has already paid. All you need to do is draw the MERCY & GRACE CARD and your sins will be forgiven.
Will you choose that card today?

I once went white water rafting on the New River Gorge river in West Virginia at the height of the season. Rapids were category 4 with a couple of 5’s (6 is considered unpassable) and while overall it was exciting and even dangerous, one memory in particular stands out.
As our guide was training and prepping us before starting down river, he said there definitely would be times when it would be so rough that it was not uncommon for a crew member to be ejected out of the raft. Sure enough this happened two or three times, and team members instinctively snatched their fellow sojourner, saving them in the nick of time. But it was his last comment that was particularly sobering.
“When in the torrent of vicious water with steep drops and sharp rocks, injury is certain and death a possibility, so if you fall out of the raft, and we cannot retrieve you, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.”
God likewise is warning us that if we get tossed into the tumultuous, unrestrained deep river of sin that the result will be that “…such things are worthy of death.” (verse 32) As today’s three verses caution us, God will not be there to save you and 'YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.'
Friend, never put your life in a place where you move yourself so far away from God that even He gives up on you. It’s not because He wants to, but because “(you) have pleasure in doing them (these things).” (verse 32)

In a pounding rain storm a worker stood frantically waving a flag to oncoming motorists to divert them from danger on the road ahead that was rapidly being overcome by an overflowing river. All turned away except one driver that did not heed the warning and proceeded down the road only to suddenly be overcome by a deathly wall of water and was lost.
The message of the Bible is no different than that road worker. God has given us both an urgent warning and a road map on how to navigate the road of life such that we do not go past the sign this says DEAD END that leads to ETERNAL LOSS.
As today’s scripture verse says, those that are wise will seek the place of safe cover that God is offering in the Gospel, but those that do not care or are not thinking of where the life road ends will suffer a loss far greater than they could possibly imagine.
Friend, what does your heart tell you when seeing this sign? Will you heed the message to eternal blessing, or proceed forward to eternal sorrow?

Oh-Oh!! The years fly by and then one day your last year comes and it is time for you to make an exit. When that day comes, are you ready for it?
If there is one critical question that most people NEVER take the time to answer, it is this - WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Sadly at the moment of death, if this question was never resolved then there are desperate cries of “I don’t want to die!!” But here is the raw truth - we ALL get booted off planet earth, and there is nothing you can do to stop that, but there IS something YOU can do beforehand to prepare for it!
All that takes is one simple step and one sure decision. Make a choice right now to go before Almighty God and simply say, “LORD, you are God and I am a sinful person that has not lived a perfect life. I am asking you to forgive me of my sins, to make me clean by what Jesus Christ did on the cross on my behalf, and take me when I die to be with you forever. I promise to make you the LORD of my life and to follow you the rest of my days. I ask this in the name of Jesus, AMEN.”
Friend, if you prayed that prayer earnestly from the heart, when that last year comes, you’ll enjoy an 'EEE' (Excellent Earth Exit!)

I hate to break it to you, but one day we are all going to die, but here’s something you may not of thought of before.
When you come into this world, your SOUL is united with your BODY and after living a (hopefully long life) one day your body will die and at that point your soul will then be separated from your body. This physical death is what the Bible calls 'The First Death,' but the question is - what THEN happens to your SOUL?
The Bible teaches at death that your soul will go one of two places. If you are “in Christ” it will go directly to be with God, and you will not die again or face condemnation. However if you are NOT in Christ, your soul will be separated from God and you will wait in hell until the end of time, and at that point will be judged for your sins and faced a self-imposed condemnation where you will go into “..the Lake of Fire.” This is the SECOND DEATH - the death of your soul - but a death that will never end and continue for all eternity.
Wow!! That message is really brutal! … and YES it is, and perhaps the most harsh word I have ever written, but before you get angry at me, THIS IS WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, but here is the GOOD NEWS and the Truth!
You have been offered an acquittal - a full pardon for everything you’ve ever done wrong or evil in your life. There is no reason why you or anyone should experience a 'Second Death!' It is entirely up to you to believe or NOT BELIEVE what the Bible says, so if you have read this far, here is the conclusion of the matter.
Either: A) You will believe God’s offer of forgiveness, believe what His Word says in the Bible about avoiding this second death and take His offer of deliverance from this Second Death -or- B)You will come to your own conclusion that this is some stupid, superstitious, imaginary religious fairy tale not worth your consideration.
It is going to be one or another, but either way it is YOUR CHOICE.
Friend, THIS IS SERIOUS. You really do have a soul that will live forever, and YOU have a CHOICE how many DEATHS you believe you’ll have.
WILL IT BE ONE DEATH OR TWO?

We live in a world that desperately needs the light and the unconditional love of Christ. So many people need compassion, understanding, empathy, acceptance, a helping hand, and a warm caring touch, but who will bring it to them?
As Christians, God has given us this responsibility in His “Great Commission” to go out into the world and share His gospel. While we are not all called to be famous preachers with huge international ministries or TV shows, how then can we be faithful and fulfill Jesus’ command? We do it by being a positive example in how we live our own personal lives and by sharing what Christ has done for us with others thorough our personal testimony. Don’t be afraid and ask the Holy Spirit to give you confidence to speak through you if you are not experienced in sharing your faith. Remember you are not alone because the Holy Spirit is inside of you and will give you the right words at the right time and situation. All you have to do is be real and honest. Jesus wants you to shine your light and shine it bright to everyone and in every situation you encounter.
If ever the world has needed the love of Jesus who gives His power to do all these things through us, it’s right NOW. Jesus is the Light of the World and the "“The Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in YOU"” (Romans 8:11) Now that’s power and light!!
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
