The spaces between the trees look darker than Eddie’s ever noticed before. And, yeah, Eddie likes his dark corners, but there are no tales to spin or truths to find here. He knows what happens in these parts of the woods and he’s not a fan.
He pauses for one more moment, steeling himself, and then he steps into the thick of the trees.

“Can’t say I have many thoughts about them,” Steve says.
“You don’t think they’re real?”
“I’m not even sure this one is real to be honest,” Steve smiles, like sometimes he wishes it wasn’t. “Why? You believe in them?”
He pauses.
It’s not that he believes in them, he just wants something fleshier than theory to hold onto.
