She freezes, clutching the pillow tight a moment. "S-sure, come on in." She lets go of the pillow, then rolls over to face the door. Seeing him there, she sits up fully. "Anything on your mind?"
She kicks her feet back and forth slowly, claws on either side to prop her up. But she keeps her eyes on his, not looking away. Her expression is one of weariness, but the faintest smile graces the corners of her mouth.

"Wait!" she lunges forward to grab his arm. "Look, I really appreciate everything you've done for me so far. I'd pretty much forgotten what personal interaction was, and you helped remind me." She pulls him into a soft hug. "I'm sorry for making things awkward for you. I like you to, but I don't know how much. I really do want to be good friends with you, I'm tired of being alone."
She takes a reluctant step back from the embrace, still holding one of his hands "You haven't bothered me. Despite everything, today's been the best day in a very long time. I can't thank you enough. If anyone should be sorry for anything today, it's me."
She smiles to him, subconsciously leaning in just a bit "Really, I don't think I'll mind staying here while I heal. As long as you let me help out to make up for all this hospitality."

Morning in the Mountains
The smell of scrambling eggs would fill the home of Rider by dawn. Gale had gotten up early after a restful sleep to cook some breakfast for her host, hoping that the military man hadn't already gotten up yet. Her tail swishes around as eggs, coffee, juice, and bagels are made up. She'd have a bit of cleaning to do afterward, but it's the least she could do.
"Yipe!" she turns around quickly while trying to hide something "No, it's fine. I'll clean up after we're done. Just grab whatever you want and enjoy yourself." plates are piled with all of the treats on the counter nearby. Either she was expecting a family of four or she can pack it away.
"How do you like your coffee? It's still black right now." she looks over to the machine that had almost seemed to be the only regularly used piece of equipment in this kitchen when she started.
Morning in the Mountains
She stashes the apron in the unused oven why he turns to fill his plate. "Nothing, nothing." Then she mimics him and gets a bit of everything on her own, sprinkling cheese over her eggs.
She sits next o him, and gets asked that question while sipping her orange juice. She sets the glass down and cocks her head as she replies, "What do you mean? Nothing weird about scrambled eggs. Unless you put ketchup on them or something." Her face scrunches up in a mock look of disgust.
Morning in the Mountains
She shrugs her feathery shoulders "College living, I guess. When your food budget is low you learn to make cheap stuff tastier. And well, I've never found a job tat'll get me out of that budget."
"You'd think after all these years... guess the moving around doesn't help." She sighs and takes a big bite of eggs with an extra dash of salt.
Morning in the Mountains
"Nuh uh, you're not cleaning up after me." she joins him in the dishwashing, determined to do her fair share. Between the two of them, everything is spotless in no time.
"Well, could you maybe show me around here? I was able to call in my vacation time so I have all the time I need to heal. And it really is beautiful around here."
Morning in the Mountains
"I guess we can start with the rest of the house and the area around here." she wipes her talons on a nearby towel to dry them off. "And no offense, but that place is pretty overwhelming. I guess I could go into town, never been around so many ponies before."
"I think I should change into something a bit more comfy though, pj's are not the best daywear." She looks down to the fluffy cotton shirt and pants on her form.
Morning in the Mountains
She walks down from the landing, sporting a pale blue sundress and white shorts. "I figured I'd go for something light, we're probably going to be walking a lot today. So what's first?"
She tilts her head and she comes over, bouncing a bit on the pads of her feet when next to him, her lithe and slightly short frame tiny compared to his.
Morning in the Mountains
She stretches her arms out over her head in the sunshine. "Mmm, I think I'd like to see the lake first. Maybe we can go toward the town later." She tilts her head back, eyes closed and soaking up he sun as they walk.
Her smile twists into a small frown and she tries to reach to her back. "Grr, stupid bandages. Itch like mad. Rider, think you can help me out? Left shoulder blade at the bottom." She twists her back to him, presenting the semi-backless dress to him. Winged fashions, gotta leave room for the wings to fit through.
Morning in the Mountains
"Little lower... right there~" she purrs as he gets down on the lower part of her bandages. She accidentally lets him go a bit more than is necessary, straightening up suddenly when she realizes.
"Thanks, it was driving me nuts." she adjusts the bandage a bit to hide her blush. "So, lots of animals around the lake right? What kinds?"
Morning in the Mountains
"That'd be nice, but I can't get these bandages wet. Guess I could soak my legs though." She either doesn't notice, or doesn't mind that he took her hand. She stays by his side as they walk the path through the forest, the last few blossoms of spring stubbornly clinging to branches.
Something catches her eye and she leans forward a it to get a better look. "Hey, I think I can see the sun reflecting off the lake already." She strains her ears to pick up any sounds of woodland critters.
Morning in the Mountains
A sideways glance comes his way "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you set this up ahead of time." A wry grin spreads across her face as she heads over to the chairs.
She bends over to grab the end of one, then begins backpedaling, bringing it closer to the water. She stops just at the edge, setting the chair back down and sitting down. With a content grunts she stretches her legs out, toes in the air before her feet come down into the water.

(( From the early part of Morning in the Mountains, Gale cooking eggs for breakfast for her host. No, it's not awkward even though she's part bird. ))

She stretches out, arms out above her head, letting out a contended squeak/sigh. "I have to agree with you on that. When I get better I'm gonna have to come back up here with my suit."
She leans forward, looking around the edge of the lake, curious as to how the animals population is acting with them here. You could tell a lot about an area based on how skittish the wildlife was.
Golden Afternoon
He laughs and follows suit, grabbing the other chair and hoisting it onto his shoulder as he carries it over, setting it down next to hers. “Think what you want. Honestly I always keep a chair here, it’s a good place to relax." he states with a smile. As he sits he removes the boots on his feet, then the socks, setting them aside as he dips his feet in, enjoying the water. “Love this spot, the water is always the perfect temperature." he adds, giving her a happy glance.
She looks down, eyes following the scurrying mice intently. "Looks like they're having fun at least." She leans over a tiny bit before stopping, was she holding herself back from pouncing? The answer is yes, not that she'd admit to it.
A thought comes to her and she snickers. "Does that mean your feet smell like cheese?" The idea is hilarious to her, she lays back fully as she laughs.
Golden Afternoon
She also lays in the sun for a while, occasionally grumbling when she reflexively tries to spread her wings to catch some additional rays and meeting the resistance of the bandages. She decides to take her mind off it by recalling the incident that led to them in the first place.
Images go past in her head. The curve of the world, the adrenaline rush of the freefall, pressing herself close to Rider's bac-
She presses a talon to her beak to keep from squawking in embarrassment again, glancing over to the pegasus to see if he saw the blush under her feathers.
Golden Afternoon
A moments glance at the mice still running around on his boots then she meets his gaze again. "Oh, uh, whatever's handy I guess. Maybe some kind of sandwich? I'm not exactly famished yet."
Inwardly she winces, stupid instincts. She should have known this was a dumb idea to stick around here.
