Doodlerbird - Tumblr Posts

I thought it fitting to start the Doodlerbird blog with some doodled birds. They were practice for drawing faster, and it feels like making them helped me relax into it more. Also expect much more phone camera action.

There, proper profile in place.
I’ll post stuff other than birds soon.. maybe.

Alien bug sculpture I finished a little while ago. It was made with air-drying clay and some wire armature, then painted with acrylics.
I used my nails and an actual nail to sculpt. It’s my first small sculpture so it got pretty tricky at times. It also got really purple.

A project I’ve been working on. There’s a third piece drying right now that will be posted when ready.
These are the smallest I’ve ever made, about 5-6 cm at their longest. Not super tiny but difficult to make since I’m still a novice.

I saw something that reminded me of mothman so this happened. My love of moths has resurfaced and it is good.

A one hour nude drawing from school, I’m very happy with it -v- The model gave permission to post art of her on social media so no foul here. For reference the head is about as big as a splayed out hand.

Some more nude drawings, again not posted against the model’s will. These are only ten minutes each but I thought they were the best from today’s session.

I tried drawing in an app on my phone yesterday and it was ludicrously hard. Some things like the airbrush are quite nice, but it takes such a long time to paint in comparison to a tablet. Still something fun to do while waiting for a bus so it’s worth a little effort.

A doodle of a little cozy dude I named Luddgubbe, or fuzz-man translated from Swedish.

I took a little break from posting anything for a while, but some casual doodles still happened. The top one is a quick drawing of a fellow art student chilling in one of our common-room chairs.

Thought I’d practice some illustration by drawing the most hopeless main character I’ve ever read about(and my favourite), Arthur Dent. He does a fair amount of falling in the books and is generally unable to comprehend his reality, so this felt like the right way to portray him
The lines are converted straight from my paper drawing and the colours quickly added, so as to not overthink anything. I like how it still looks kinda sketchy.

The directions for this week’s nude drawing was to use blue, red, yellow, and black water colours for starters.. and then we were told to chop off the limbs and head of the drawing. A bit odd but it was so we could spend more time on the main body.
There’s the shadow of a ghost arm on there, wich I think looks pretty nice. The little wormy up top is a braid that I felt like including because it seemed like fun. Of course the model gave consent to post this on social media, she was really supportive about it :)

Okay this one needs an explanation. I play pokemon go a lot, and sometimes two pokemon will spawn in the same place. When that happens they sort of clip together, and the other day I saw rattatas and pidgeys merged like that all over the place. I wondered what it would look like were it to be realistic(what was I supposed to do, not depict horribly mutated woodland creatures??). Of course the in game sprites don’t do.. this exact thing but hey imagination yo.

I relaxed from application work with some inking and aquarelle. The anatomy is almost completely imaginary on purpose, just some stuff thrown together.
The brush I used was really small and nice but pretty bristly. Wierd that it didn’t mess everything up.

This is The Man of Plants. He was created because I tried not to fall asleep in the middle of the day and needed a distraction. His intentions are unknown.

Sorted a lot of my old stuff and found some that aged pretty well. I always had a soft spot for this bug so I picked it out to post. It also reminds me to get more ink pens..

Have some colours.
