"Seo, are you sure about this?"
It's currently eleven pm and Seoah called Seungkwan and Vernon up to see if they wanted to have a late night snack and played a silly game she found.
"Yes, we'll be fine! Besides, I only got two bottles for everyone so we shouldn't get wasted."
The members came home after a long day of practice and prepping for the group's upcoming comeback. Yes, it isn't wise for them to have a couple of drinks but Seoah's sure they won't finish all six bottles.
"Kwan, we'll totally be fine. Besides, I think we're going to be more focused on the game more than anything." Vernon reassured his friend, patting his shoulder.
The trio sat on the floor around the table and the boys got to unwrapping the food while Seoah looked up the account on tiktok and pulling up the questions. Seungkwan carefully removed the wrappers and evenly distributed the food while Vernon poured drinks for everyone.
"Do you have Jaws?" Vernon asked, getting up to head into the kitchen.
"Yeah, why?"
"I saw this cocktail recipe and it looked good so I wanted to try it."
"Make me one too!" Seoah shouts, a little too giddy for the drink. After all, it was with her favorite popsicle of all time so it had to be good.
Once everything was settled and everyone had a few bites, Seoah pulled up the questions.
"Okay, so this game is called flamingo cards. It's supposed to be a couple's game but I've seen everyone play with their friends so I thought this would be fun!"
Seungkwan nods hesitantly, "Alright... Read the first question then!"
Seoah clears her throat, "What's the one 'what if' that keeps you awake at night?"
"Easy, what if we continued dating?" Vernon answers, looking straight at the girl.
Seoah's eyes grow big and the goes to help Seungkwan who choked on his food, patting his back.
"What? You guys dated?!" Seungkwan shouts, still unable to grasp at his friend's answer.
"Yeah, we did.. But it was for three months. Besides, we both decided we were better off as friends." she hissed, sending signals to the boy.
Seoah then looked at Vernon expectantly, hoping that he would back her up.
"Totally, I'm just saying. It has kept me up a few nights but not often where I had the thought of wanting to get back together. And that's why we didn't tell anyone. We just went on a few dates and realized that we were better off as friends. Nothing's changed between us. Besides, our last date over five years ago. Now, moving on, please."
"You go!" Seungkwan points, "I wanna see what you say."
"Well, I think my 'what if' would be... "What if I never ended up in Seventeen. Of course I don't regret anything as a member but you never know, y'know? If I trained for a few more years I could've gone onto Produce 101 or became a member of Pristin. I just imagine what my life would've been like if I wasn't chosen as a member. And no, I wasn't going to branch off of Vernon, that would be boring. Now it's your turn Seungkwan!"
Seungkwan pauses for a few beats before speaking up, "What if I never promoted Seventeen hard enough."
The room goes silent before Seungkwan continues, "I know, it's weird for me to say this but I always thought, 'What if I never went out to promote Seventeen?', 'What if I never begged PDs to give us a chance?'. Would we still be here? Would we have gotten big as we are right now? There's just so many possibilities that could've happened, y'know?"
Seoah whispers, "Yeah, anything could've happened to us. But, I'm so happy that you did and I'm so proud of us for working hard and getting us to where we are today."
"Happy question?" Vernon suggests, "To bring up the mood."
"Would you rather win the lottery but lose all of your friends, or stay as you are?"
"Easy. Stay as you are," Vernon snorts, "We're rich already so what's the point of winning the lottery and losing your friends?"
"That's exactly what I thought! We're not broke and we're not rich but we have a decent amount of money. I rather keep the current amount in my bank account." Seungkwan agrees.
The silence coming from Seoah had the two boys curious on what the girl would say.
"I would win the lottery..." She mumbles, head down.
"Seoah!"
"Park Seoah!" They both shout, shocked at her answer.
"What! I'm just saying, it'd be nice to see what it's like winning the lottery..."
"But you'd lose us!" Seungkwan shouts, exasperated.
"No I won't! You guys are family. There's no way I'd lose you guys."
"Okay, but we're not blood related. So there's a chance you'd lose us." Vernon points out, giving her a look.
"And I'll make sure I won't lose you guys! I'm pretty sure Cheol and Jeonghan oppa would be on my ass if I lost you guys."
"And I'll make sure they know about this." Seungkwan grunts, "Next question."
The rest of the questions flew by as most of them grew intense, but there were a few jokes here and there. As Seoah expected, the drinks were left unattended and the food grew cold, but it wasn't a concern for the girl.
"Last question. I'm about to pass out," Seoah yawns, rubbing her eyes.
"I'll just answer the last one. I haven't answered a lot." Seungkwan adds, grabbing the phone from her.
"What was the dumbest thing we've done together?" he reads.
"When was it? When we broke into your apartment with Jinah noona because you weren't answering our calls or texts?"
"Oh yeah," she flushes red, embarrassed at the memory.
"I seriously thought something happened to you! But it turns out you fell asleep while taking a bubble bath."
"I get it! Yeah, I fell asleep but I was so tired that day. I didn't know what else to do."
"I get that you were going through a slump but it would've been nice for someone to be there or at least know you were in the shower. I was so scared for you." Seungkwan whispers.
"I know, and I'm so sorry. From now on, I'll take showers and no more bubble baths." She salutes, letting out a small giggle at the end.
"That's not what I meant!"
"I know, I know. But I love you guys! Thanks for taking care of me."
"We're always here for you." Vernon replies, pulling the trio in for a hug.
"Always."
