Recent Vergil commission. 💙

There are some comments out there claiming Vergil doesn't care for Nero, or perhaps only cares about his power. But I believe the final scene implies otherwise:

So when both Dante and Vergil agree to leave to cut the roots of the Qliphoth, Nero keeps catching up with them. Nero just learned he has a family, and just spend all his energy trying to save both of them. So he is stressing hard. Because after a brief moment, they're leaving again, and he's basically losing his new found family. Which is why he keeps running after them and trying to stop them.

So when Dante turns around to talk to him, he addresses the issue he thinks Nero has, which is being scared of being the 'Dead Weight'. Because that's been the repeating issue between them so far. So he tries to reassure him that he trusts him with 'things on this side', and that he can handle this on his own.

But the point is that's not what Nero needs to hear. It doesn't calm him down (you can clearly tell by how puzzled he looks and still runs after them after that). For the first time that's not the issue he's directly worried about at the moment, because he just proved his strenght in battle. He succeeded in saving them of eachother.

So when Vergil calls out to "Make Haste Dante", Dante leaves. If Vergil was in such a hurry, he would have jumped first. But he doesn't. He waits for Dante to leave, while he keeps his eyes on Nero, and I believe he pulled Dante away from Nero on purpose because he noticed his panic, and/or wanted to talk to him alone.

So left with Nero alone, he says 2 things. "I won't lose next time", implying that there will be a reunion, aka,' I will come back to you'. And the second, he asks him to hold onto his poetry book, as a physical reminder of that fact. The significance of Vergil entrusting the book to Nero has been analysed a lot so I won't delve into it, but obviously he gives Nero something that's very important to him. (In VoV it's described as his heart). And then he leaves.

The point is, Vergil noticed what Nero needed to hear. At that moment he didn't need to hear anything about strength or power or being good enough. He didn't need validation about not being the dead weight. All he needed to know was if his new found family would come back. And Vergil reassures him of that.

Which confirms to me he does care enough to do so for Nero, and also isn't completely unaware of his son's feelings. And that action just speaks volumes to me.

If I had a nickel for every time I was introduced to a character named V that just wanted to be protected and loved, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

It’s not about loss… Strength is a choice. Fighting like hell to protect what’s important.

Another Devil May Cry and Darksiders crossover! Dante and Strife are having fun :D I always wanted to try manga style. Now realized that I love it. I always hated the colors, and THIS is a breath of fresh air for me.

I’ve been stuck in darksiders 3 for the last few days. So let me introduce you to… Darksiders and Devil May Cry crossover xD Dante + Strife and Vergil + Death are the best friends forever, you can’t object to that

Right, how could I forget about Nero + War. They’re best friends forever, too

Howdy! Remember that one post I did of a "What if?" Where Dante used the Yamato on himself to separate his human and demon half? Well, two years later, I decided to revisit that and give his human half, D, a full redesign and ref! Second image is D with his familiar, the doppelganger, and I gave his demon half, Tony Redgrave, a full design revision too. And an additional pic of D and V being punk and goth shit twins together. Dante used the Yamato on himself because he believed that he and Vergil (specifically V) will get along better without the grievances of the past. The idea that all of Dante's punk rock nature, along with his wild behavior, would all be put into his human half is a funny concept to me. D represents all of that and the very faded white tips are a homage to the first design. Tony Redgrave was the name me and a few friends gave the demon half, where we thought it was funny to put all of Dante's calm and cowboy aesthetic into. Tony is relatively chill and isn't much of a fighter, however, he also holds some of Dante's trauma as well. Due to them being separated, Dante's past resentment towards his demon half is fresh for D, while Tony knows that and tries to stay out of anything hectic. Eventually, the two will learn to accept each other again before they fuse back into Dante. The doppelganger is D's familiar; they can protect D by forming a force-field around any area temporarily as long as they're in the tattoo. Just like V, D can send the doppelganger out to help him fight (although, D prefers not to and can still use Ebony and Ivory). However, D can only use his familiar for a short period of time, because once the doppelganger realizes there's no enemies left, they will immediately turn against D and try to fight him. The familiar will also use psychological torment on D by shape-shifting into shadowy versions of either Dante (specifically dmc 1 and 2 versions), Nelo Angelo, and Eva. They will replicate their voices as well just to fuck with him. D doesn't send out his familiar a majority of the time, only having to do so if he has no other choice.

How would the 4 Horseman react to Sparda from Devil May Cry?

Oh this is a good one! I've always wanted to take a stab at Devil May Cry/Darksiders Crossover!

Death

. At first hearing about a new kind of Demon Lord, his reaction is "Ugggh...Not another one.". He kinda assumes he'll eventually meet him to hunt him down.

. But once he finds this is a powerful demon.....that fights against hell to protect humanity, color him surprised.

. In all his years of combating hell's legions that endanger the balance, here's one literally fighting against the grain and doing...good? Perish the thought. But even he can't deny it's a good kind of different

. Despite him not really believing it at first, if they were to meet, good chance Death will not try to pick a fight. He doesn't know how powerful Sparda is, and same on the other end. So first meeting could go many ways, but most likely not end in bloodshed.

. Maybe along the line could see him as an ally if things got bad on Earth. After all, Death went through quite a journey to bring back humanity, and a demon that has sworn to protect them is sure to get along.

. His shapeshifting ability would intrigue the old horsemen thought, and to take on the appearance of a human indefinitely is no small feat.

. If Death were to find out that Sparda had twin sons with a human, his immediate thought is. "Wonderful, more Nephilim spawn to torment my existence." (In Biblical texts, their version of a Nephilim is children from the union of Demon/Fallen angel with a human).

War

. At first thinks it's just another demon lord he will have to kill to preserve the balance.

. No joke, they might fight upon first meeting depending on how it goes. Mostly to test his strength and to ascertain if this isn't just some weak demon under the influence of Lucifer.

. But then afterward, might chill out a bit. It really depends.

. Once he finds out that Sparda is not your run of the mill Demon Lord in the sense that he fights against what all demons stand for, War would be willing to be Chaoseater away.

. Besides Vulgrim and occasionally the tense alliances with Samael, this would be a demon he could get along with much better.

. Would note the power Sparda wields, maybe even have a slight respect for him.

. In all essence, Sparda is an ally he has no qualms with teaming up with if push comes to shove.

Fury

. When she heard about a Demon lord from another realm that actually protects humanity...she is gonna laugh. Not just because she finds it hard to believe, but the irony.

. A Demon's purpose is to corrupt and destroy, why would one go through the trouble of fighting the demonic nature?

. She would have to see it to believe it, cuz she would not take any chances. Is more then willing to try and kill him if he gets in her way.

. Upon first meeting, while he is charismatic and well spoken for a demon (Sort of like Abraxis), it's not hard to deny this is a different kind of amicability not laced with deceit.

. While she normally likes working alone, even she can't deny having allies or uneasy acquaintances in strange places would be a benefit.

. In all honesty likes Sparda more than Vulgrim. Less likely to steal your soul or manipulate you to carry out favors for him.

. Is willing to be on peaceful terms, so long as he doesn't try anything, because she is more than willing to retract that kindness and unleash Scorn on him.

Strife

. A Demon lord that protects Humanity? This he has to see.

. If he were to meet Sparda in his true form, ngl would ask "So uhhhh...why a giant bug? No offense". Don't know how Sparda would react, but Strife is just curious.

. If human Sparda, oh all the questions he would have. Cuz Strife himself has that ability too.

. Essentially, he is more likely out of the four to truly get along with Sparda, for him being a demon, he keeps to his word. Which is rare, and he can respect that.

. Since Sparda has some note of omnipotence, would probably notice that Strife's personality and mannerisms bear a resemblance with his son Dante in the future. Depending on if he can see that far.

. If Strife found out that he has kids with a human, he does not hold back. " Wait wait wait.......You can do that?!"

. Is more than willing to fight alongside if push came to shove

i played dmc5 again last night while my bf watched and we ended up talking abt sdt dante and so i got reminded of these :) i still like them a lot
