So for those not watching f2 right now:
Logan Sargeant and Jack Doohan collided during the safety car restart, which immediately brought out another safety car.
Race control sent a message that the safety car would be going through the pitlane. Prema asked the race director to verify this twice, which they claim the race director did.
Boards on track showed the pitlane closed, but Hauger listened to his engineer and came into the pitlane, following what they confirmed with the race director.
Hauger was the only one to do so, came out P12 when he was P1 the entirety of the race prior to this incident. Race direction sent a message saying “Pitlane entry closed” the moment Hauger entered.
Hauger was then investigated by the stewards and handed a 10 second penalty for going through the pitlane.
To top it all off, the layout of Jeddah made the cleanup last half the race distance, with cars driving directly past marshals cleaning up the incident.
They should never have raced here in the first place.
