Currently thinking about Alex in leather jacket and boots with her tattoos and Darlington in soft sweaters with classic books and his fluffy hair.
Despite the very dark themes of Ninth House, somehow Darlington and Alex are such a comfort couple. Like I love waking up in the morning and thinking that Alex would be proud of me for waking up at all and Darlington would love me for cleaning my desk and making a to-do list.
If I pull an all-nighter, Darlington would want me to take breaks and Alex would be equally frustrated with me about my thick books but still supportive of me making progress.
If I catch a cold, Alex would want me to be buried under blankets and warm and Darlington would make me try some fancy brandy to help me stop sneezing.
He would want me to read more books, learn that new language, drink tea from that fancy cup and give it my all and Alex would want me to be unbothered but still love my friends. She would want me to have enough strength to move forward and leave hurtful things in the past.
He rolled over, blinking tiredly. The full moon danced in his vision. He closed his eyes. When he opened them again, she smiled warmly at him. Her silky black hair gleamed with the stars of the night. Thick and dense as velvet and smooth as satin. Her dark eyes glowed in the night. Two large pools of endless dark, warm. Tattoos that swim across her warm skin.
He was dreaming again. Dreaming of her.
Soft fingertips that glide over his face. Cool and assuring. His head between her thighs, cool skin bracketing his ears, caressing and holding him in place. Sliver hands wrapped around golden horns.
His name a melody.
“Darlington.”
