Summary: they are probably not blessed with social power, they have to endure the hardships of the Spade's lowest of the lowlife, but the strength of their bond keeps them alive and determined. It must be fate...

Trigger warnings: underage labor, blood mention

One of these cold ass days, when your fingers get numb in your pockets because no heat can be found in the winter of the magnificent and welcome Spade shithole... I grit my teeth to the thoughts, as I carry a sack of bricks for the constructions. Bitches don't care of the weather, I have seen my coworkers falling unconscious in the snow while trying to get bosse's orders right... This ass will snap at us for failing, even if he knows that some middle aged men work here as well... I'm 16, I have my Grimoire, I'm young, I can handle things, but some other's just can't! The audacity of the strong....

I walked further, my hands covered in rock, carrying those bad boys to their destination as best as possible. One of my coworkers is almost to his limit. This guy is almost an old man, what cruelty exists out there... I asked him to help, he refused, but I insisted.

"Come on, mister, you really need a helping and more muscular hand! Count on me! I promise it's not to steal your salary..."

"But, son, you really don't have to strain yourself..."

"Don't worry, I'm a rock mage, made for those jobs..." With that I took his bricks on my other arm and walked faster, even though I was aching and cold, we needed to make it to the construction fast.

"Gaderois! That bad wolf fears no cold! You're gonna grow up and be a strong man after all those bricks you have carried, boy!" This was one of the builders we found in the construction, as we arrived, with me leading, huffing and looking forward with determined, gleaming eyes. I didn't find anything of his words worth chuckling, if I was any arrogant poser, I might had flexed my sore arm at him with a wink, but I was too focused at my work to do so. I had to unpack bricks and deliver them. No time for small talk with the dudes...

We could finally call it a day... I sighed and pulled my coat closer to my, and tried to warm up my fingers with my breath, those damned old gloves wouldn't do a thing...

"Gadeeeeee~! Gadee!! Ga- aaaaaiiaiiai!!!.... Ouchies.... Gadeeee!!!" I heard a familiar voice of a boy very dear to me, and I turned to see him trying to raise himself from the snow he had just fallen on. I rushed to him to help.

"Damn it, Foyal, how many times do I have to tell you to be more careful when running... You twisted your ankle again?..." I tried to seem serious, but I couldn't help cracking a smile at his hair that all fell in his eyes - he hasn't had a haircut for years now, and they grow out to be a cloudy mess, and that just makes me feel even more for him...

"Here..." I extended a tired hand at him, but in front of the bricks, he feels like a feather.

"Th-, thank you, Gade..." He timidly put some hair back and stood awkwardly in front of me. Then, he suddenly made a surprised exclaim and crouched to get something that had gotten buried in the snow, and that I hadn't yet noticed...

He grabbed it and brushed all the snow away, and when I realised what it was, my eyes went wide. Foyal.... You made it...

"Gade, look!" His face was shining, shaking the fatigue of his eyes away for some seconds and installing hope in them, the crystal clear blue of his eyes, a very pale blue, shines like a sunny sea that we will never see...

"I wanted to show you way earlier, but my mother didn't allow me to go out yesterday... Gade?..."

Me trying to stay quiet so the lump in my throat wouldn't betray my emotional side at him... I need to look strong for Foyal...

"You don't have to say something?...."

"I-... I'm so proud of you...." I couldn't hold a tear back, and I pulled him in a tight embrace. I blinked that tear away and I was ready to face him again, with an encouraging smile. "I knew you'd make it..."

"Gade, all I did was earn my Grimoire... I'd get one anyway..." He smirked at me and hugged his Grimoire with pride.

"Yes, but this doesn't change the fact that I'm proud of you..."

"Thank you! But the real achievements are going to be earned at the summer exams! I'm sure I'll be chosen for the science college, I've worked so hard..." He paused and frowned a bit. "Will I pass, Gade?..." He lowered his head with insecurity. "You know how much I want it..."

I put a hand on his shoulder and my other one went on his chin, to lift his unique face and make him look at me. I wanted to give him reassurance. He has to try and prove all the rich losers that we can also get up there with them... "You will definitely pass, Fofo, you're a genius..."

"You truly believe-"

His phrase was stopped by... Those hideous neighborhood kids... "Oh, look, it's skinny loser Fogyal!"

"Haha, look at him and his stupid ass uncut hair! You look like a mop on a stick, honestly! What, you were telling your bodyguard that you want to go to the college?! HAH! Neither we can, do you know for what people the military science college is, rubbish boy? Only the rich and favoured can go there, and you, a little nothing can't even finish school properly!"

My first was clenched. My lip twitched and my eyebrows met my eyes. I couldn't stand listening to such mockery about my precious Foyal. These assholes have no idea of how hard we try to get a fuckin decent life... And the funniest thing is that they are only slightly above us socially because their parents have curryed the favour of some richer pricks of employers.

"HAHAHHAHA, as if a Grimoire can make him special! YOU'LL ALWAYS BE LANKY BEDHEAD FOGYAL!"

"Y'all better watch your mouths..."

I got in front of Foyal, ready to protect him at all costs with my bigger body, even if it meant going against five all alone. My hand firmly grabbed his arm and my eyes shoot the bullies with a hateful glare. "You bastards happen to have a better luck than us, but at least Foyal tries his best for his future, while all you can do is mock the weaker! You think he deserves all of your moronic comments?! You really have an audacity for your ugly faces! YA BETTER GET LOST YESTERDAY!" I raised my voice and snapped at them, threatening to use magic as my hand got covered in rock that created lots of sharp edges.

"Hah, that peeble bodyguard really thinks he can stand a chance against five of stage 4! I BET YOU TWO ARE NOT EVEN STAGE 8 OR SOMETHING!" With those ugly phrase, they all got their newly acquired as well Grimoires, ready to attack us.

"You wish I was stage eight..." I growled through my teeth and used a powerful spell that hit exactly just near him, I wasn't even sure if it scraped that guy even... It was just a casual threa to leave us alone, but it probably made things worse.

"Haaah? So you're a high stage? Let's see what you can do then!, Boys, ready your weapons, I found a new toy..." He smirked sadistically and his gang flipped some pages to ready spells.

And then-

"Wh- WHAT IS THAT, WHERE IS IT COMING FROM?!?"

The asshole was right, there was a sudden storm of... Fog... That was...

I turned behind me, in shock. I saw him, hair getting stirred in the storm as well, eyes white, like death, his body covered in a thin layer of mist, hovering above the ground, his lips pressed in a determined desire to... Protect me...

The storm became even stronger, shards of sharp rock from the construction near could also float and scratch the brats, I could see some blood getting splashed but it was only some surface cuts. Even I had to cover my face at first, but around me there was a dome that enclosed my body so that I wouldn't get injured accidentally... My precious thought of everything...

Many people turned to see what has happening. The brats started retreating, while screaming for mercy. I briefly turned to see the glory of his battle face, it felt like ages of me staring in awe of his features lighting up and forming intense shapes of intense emotions... Short after he got his Grimoire, he could unleash such power... So he also was born stage zero without being some nobleman like me... It was sure fate, I was always knowing that... We met of fate...

One day... I'll marry this man...

Random Dark Disciple Headcanons I've made the past days:

(cut for TWs: contains the mention of alcohol, body horror and somewhat described violence, in that specific order. I have separated the most violent part from the most cheerful headcanons so it won't transition so quickly there.)

Ships mentioned: Svenkin x Sivoir (SvenVoir), Gaderois x Foyal (Foyarois)

How good they can handle their liquor from best to worst:

#1) Sven (obviously, he looks like it can't do nothing on him)

#2) Foyal?????????

#3) Gade, he can handle some but I'm sure he could somehow get drunk on beer if he tries hard enough

#4) Rob (he big boy but I think Svenny has the title)

#5) Halbet (strong girl, but alcohol a bit stronger for her)

#6) Sivs, he really has to avoid heavy drinks because he knows he'll get to yodelling in less than 3 shots

#7) Hischer nervous laughter

He pretends it's all good until he gives in to the drunk™ and is a fuckin disaster

Summer Headcanons:

Who will jump first in the water? Sven and Gade should rival each other on who is less cold in the first swim of the year and count to three, so the first one to fall in the water is the winner, but they always end up fighting on that as well, and Hischer has all the time to be the first to jump in, not caring about their contest at all.

The ones that are always the latest to get in the water the first time are Halbet and Sivoir, they find it hard to even dip a finger in there. They are so slow to walk further in, and on top of that they whine every second on how cold it is.

Svenkin grabs Sivoir and throws him in the water forcefully while having a good laughter watching him boil in his rage for that.

Robero tried sea water with his tongue (and immediately went to find his ice creams and lollipops, angry that the water is salty)

Meanwhile, poor Foyal is so fragile to the sunlight and heat, he has to cover his skin well with white and light clothes, wear a ton of sunscreen and thick sunglasses, also has to stay under a thick shade and drink a lot of water, otherwise he could even get a heat stroke and sunburns. He can also use his magic to cool himself down when needed, but if he had to do that all the time he'd drain his mana, so he needs to consider the rest of the protection measures as well.

Gade also tries to make the largest sand castle ever, and always makes Foyal turn to him to see with his calls. Foyal raises his eyes from his book and smiles at him, happily that he seems so excited.

The ones that sure would wear socks and sandals are Foyal, Gade and Hischer, probably also Rob, meanwhile Halbet and Sivoir wear plain minimalistic sandals, and Svenkin appears with the pink high heel flip flops (lmao)

Hischer... Feels like he'd also wear crocs a lot.

Bonus:

Sven is a manly dude that can also embrace his feminine and more flamboyant side too, and wishes he had a princess themed pink room with Sivoir, because they both love pink. Sivoir mostly hides that it's also his favourite colour but Sven teases him in private about it, and finds it cute.

So, it has come to my notice that Foyal, well, has no eyelids. It is obvious from the scenes in the manga and anime, even if I hated to admit it, but the clues are kind of obvious on that. I have created a background for him and Gaderois, that they grew up together in the poorest portion of the Spade Kingdom, struggling in the fight for survival until they were so fed up with discrimination and hardships they joined the Triad's cause, accepting the Devil Powers, finally feeling stronger, and this headcanon just gives even more sense to it. The story I thought behind it is that the young genius Foyal was able to pass in college, but his sworn bullies since forever that also passed, rich upper class brats that used bribery to make it in there, got so jealous of his progress, that found that as a reason to finally use violence against him and eliminate him from competition. They ganged up on him and their attack almost turned him blind but his vision survived, portion of his face above nose didn't though (if you notice closely, that scar he seems to have actually extended to where his eyebrows should be).

Gaderois found that outrageous scene after he heard of an attack near his college and felt such huge boiling rage and anger he ended up killing them all in a single spell that rampaged them, his first thirst for blood ever. After that he picked up unconscious Foyal that was losing blood to a healer, paying them with all the money he had to have him saved. He spent days and nights praying and crying to his side, until he finally could stand on his feet again, but nothing was the same.

Foyal couldn't stand the constant light and dryness, but he couldn't stand the shame mostly. Therefore he was always covering his eyes with a damp cloth for the first month, even if it costed him the ability to see. He trained his magic to help him with that so that he could cover his eyes with it instead.

Gade always stood by his side, supporting him and showing his love to him, he was the one to insist that he removes the cloth to see his eyes first. He reassured him in tears that he still finds him beautiful, no matter what.

Now they were stronger and more united than a fist, feeling the need to stop suppressing their urge for revenge on those stronger people that oppressed them and made them bow their heads, and the solution was becoming allies to strong people themselves, rank up and finally have a life they deserve. That brought them to Zenon's side...

Why we were robbed with Hischer: analysis

Hischer is the Dark Disciple that appears less than all the others. He is shown to lose the easiest by Gadjah, probably to point out how strong the Spirit Guardians already are. Of course it's not like everyone would care about the sidest of the side villains, but I did (and kind of dragged some friends to it), and after many thoughts, I ended up realising that Hischer himself had a huge potential as an opponent and character.

We do see certain development to the other Disciples, especially Foyal and Gaderois in 160-161 (manga chapters 234- 237) who fought against Yuno, Klaus and Letoile, heard their thoughts and learned things about their personalities (I can analyse them in another post if you want, and yeah I don't think it will be what you think (or will it?)). We also see certain development in Svenkin, Halbet and Sivoir (eps 163-164, Manga 248- 250), which allows us to understand their fighting styles and personalities. Even Robero got slightly more development (which, *cracks knuckles* well... I also have things to say about it but in another episode of Katrin rant posts). But Hischer got literally none. And his fight was the lamest I have ever seen.

First of all about his personality:

The pictures of his face give us many hints on how he is as a person, plus the information on his profile. They reason I fell for him was actually his smile and energy, and face in general drawn on his profile. It radiates an energetic person, probably kind of crazy with no hesitation and clever as well. In the anime he is also shown to be smug and very confident. It is also stated that he likes cooking, which also makes him creative.

The thing is, he has not more than one line that throws all this to the trash can, with making him look like a sheep to Vanica. He could really be so much more than that, have actual lines that show his beliefs and emotions, and enrich his battle with Gadjah, and more importantly, his general role in the series.

About his Fighting style: the lost potential of Nail Magic.

In the Manga and Anime all we get is some cameos that show him as one of the menacing opponents. Which is not wrong by itself, but, the execution is actually badly made. All he does is standing in the middle of people (one or two Guardians shown at least) and some giant mushrooms, spreading his nails.

This may look impressive at first, but the more you start thinking of it, the more boring it gets. It also makes him look like a coward, instead of a worthy opponent for Gadjah and Sarado. If the Spirit Guardians are that strong, I think it would be more appropriate if we got to see that in this particular fight, and not done like that. Hischer could be a bit (or a lot) more feral and energetic in his fighting style.

What more abilities Nail Magic can have and could be shown in the fight:

Climbing rocks and trees

Nails used as brakes for sprinting

Close combat sharp / animal like / ninja weapon -esque nails

Plus this will sound like a joke, but he could also rock his toe nails well and I'm not joking at all. I actually even think he wears sandal boots for this reason. His kicks could be fatal if his nails cut through his target. Too much lost potential.

Plus this is not only about his fighting techniques, but also the character he showed in the fight. Instead of just playing arrogant and sitting from a distance to fight, he could really play like a crazy madman with no hesitation and no understanding of danger, he could be fast as lightning and make Gadjah's moments a pain. This would even benefit Gadjah as a character. It would show that he can fight a visibly strong and lively opponent and win, living up to the reputation of the Spirit Guardians.

Overall, Hischer is having extremely little screen time, which is unfair to his potential and it would be more exciting to see him fight intensely, show a dynamic personality and be a real obstacle to his opponents.
