Reasoning: he's seen as this really handsome and beautiful scholar that all the ladies fawn over but he's completely oblivious to it.
in the game it mainly comes up as a joke that he's "clueless with romance", but it's only when people are romantically interested in *him* that he doesn't catch on, he's well aware when other people are romantically interested with others (he's a pretty perceptive guy)
he just never seems to show interest in romance in general and he's also my favourite character so of course i headcanon him as aroace <3
