Cotl Headcanons - Tumblr Posts

Okay okay okay— Cotl head cannon time:

I’d like to imagine that narinder knows nothing about what happens after death, other than that all the souls meet him. After that, he knows nothing of what they go through. I also like to imagine that those brought back to life by him, also can’t remember what happened when dead.

I’d like to imagine that narinder, the god of death, damned to eternal life, knows nothing about what happens after he passes souls on.

It’s like this quote I remember reading somewhere- but no matter where I look for it, it never shows up: ‘I’d like to call death and ask him what it’s like, even though I know he knows not of its depths’

I’d like a lamb- before they takes death’s crown- who asks narinder what death is like. And for the first time in his eternal life, asks questions about his existence, about his power. He awnsers a dumbfounded ‘I don’t know.’

I want a lamb who asks questions, and makes narinder question.

Okay, to extend your headcanon of Leshy and touch, imagine the particular feeling in how his hands are held back being how he winds up noticing that a friend of his has developed a crush on him

hahaha so uhm this brought me to writing an entire fanfic???

anyways. here, enjoy.......

Being blind wasn't easy.

Leshy had learned it the hard way, the day he was stripped of his crown and brought to the lamb's pathetic cult.

As much as he hated to admit it, he felt completely helpless. And terrified. And alone.

All sorts of unfamiliar scents surrounded him. Like a swirling storm, it overwhelmed him to try and distinguish one from another.

The noises felt way too loud to process. The voices, the rustles, the din and the laughters, all blended into one non-stopping mess.

But that was then.

Now Leshy learned to adapt.

The lamb was quick to adjust the whole place to be more accessible, too. There were stone sidewalks and handrails to help him navigate around the village without crashing into anything.

One of Leshy's favorite things were decorations: while for everyone else they were a sight to see, for him they were something to feel.

He touched sculptures, capturing and imagining all the cracks and bumps and little patches of moss covering them. He touched cold and sleek surface of the marble fountain by the park. He touched flowerbeds, exploring the patterns of dimples and grooves.

He touched people, too. Not in a weird way, of course. It became something to anchor to when having a conversation.

He'd tug on their clothes or take their hand in his just to know where they were and to be sure that they are still there, listening.

Narinder's paw was always soft and furry to touch. He'd hold Leshy's hand lightly and tenderly, as if he was afraid to squeeze it too much.

Heket, on the contrary, had a strong grip. She'd be the one to lead the way for him, quietly letting him know that he's under her protection.

Kallamar's hand, as one would expect, was usually slippery and moist, yet harsh, like dolphin skin. He'd often be the first to get distracted and let go, not out of malicious intent, but the simple need to involve someone else for them to properly communicate with each other. Deafness didn't go well with blindness.

Shamura, despite all the memory problems, would never forget Leshy's little habit. They would take his hand in theirs, delicate fingers sliding like silk across his, they'd let him hold on to them however long he needed to.

Lamb's hands were strong, rough and calloused, peppered with cuts and scratches, all reminding how much of a hard worker Lamb was. They'd hold Leshy's hand in a quiet promise.

Yet, this layer in interactions would stay reserved for his family for an extended period of time: for people he trusted enough to accommodate his disability rather then making use of it.

That was, until Lamb brought one of the green crown's former subjects to the cult. Leshy's subject.

He knew that some of Lamb's followers used to serve other crowns. Most of them had passed way before Leshy and his siblings had joined the cult, and he didn't interact much with those who were still alive.

So Beryozka had caught his attention really quickly.

She was surprisingly loyal to Leshy. She was rigorously determined to not accept the Lamb as her leader it almost got her into trouble. Lamb was about to shove her into jail for dissenting when Leshy decided to intervene.

He could practically hear something shatter inside of her when she first saw him. He simply said “Be nice to the Lamb, lady,” with a soft reproach, and went on with his day.

A few days later he would find her among other cultists, praying.

He'd forgotten about her for a bit after that. Shamura's condition seemed to worsen with time, which had sent Leshy's attention to all sorts of other worries.

He wanted to talk to Narinder, couldn't seem to find him though. Leshy was checking the places his brother would usually go to, and eventually ended up at the secluded corner of a park where Lamb held crown trophies. The place always held an eerie feeling for Leshy, but Narinder would often go there to spend some time alone and think. Today, however, someone else was there.

“Your highness” - Beryozka muttered in awe.

“It's just Leshy now” - he corrected her softly.

“Right. Sorry.”

There was an awkward pause.

“What are you doing here?” - Leshy asked.

“Nothing,” Beryozka replied hesitantly, before adding: “Everything is just... different now.”

Leshy chuckled: “Yeah... But it's nice in a way.”

He didn't need his eyes to know that Beryozka was standing by the green crown trophy.

She'd been clinging to all the little crumbs and shards of her past. Leshy knew this feeling way too well.

“Say, why don't you help me in the garden later today?”

That's where their friendship began to form.

Beryozka turned out to be a kind and perky person. A little shy and shut-in herself, but genuine and friendly.

Leshy himself didn't notice how quick he was to entrust her. Beryozka was the one he'd talk to about what's bothered him and that he couldn't bring himself to discuss inside the family. Like how he's worried for his brothers and how he feels unable and unhelpful in the research that his siblings and the Lamb was doing.

And, like a good friend, she was there for him.

But one day...

“Leshy!”, Beryozka called him and approached.

He turned to her and, without a further thought, picked up her hand in his. He'd do that with his siblings and the Lamb habitually.

But Beryozka seemed taken aback. She stiffened all of a sudden, pausing in the middle of an action, freezing, like a deer in a headlights.

“What's up?” Leshy asked.

“Uh...”

He felt Beryozka's fingers twitch in his, her palm jerking slightly as if she was about to yank her arm back, but hesitated.

“Yeah, uhm...” She seemed to be distracted or at a loss of words, what she was going to say slipped out of her mind already. “Uhh...”

“Yes, Beryozka, what is it?” He repeated his question, squeezing her palm in affirmation. That didn't help.

“I, uhh, wanted to ask... Well...”

All of sudden, somewhere behind Leshy's back, his brother Narinder burst out in laughters.

“Leshy, let her go, you haven't seen cheeks this red ever” he yelled.

“Yeah, I don't see crap because of you!” Leshy barked back at him jokingly, but did listen and let Beryozka's hand go. “Sorry,” he said.

“Iwillneverrecoverfromthis-” she bubbled on a single breath and immediately retrieved.

“Wait!” Leshy yelled, but to no success. “The heck was that.” he muttered to himself.

“She has a crush on you, dude, you just startled her” Narinder explained with a note of snark. “Maybe give her a warning next time.”

“How was I supposed to know?!...”

Yeah Leshy is definitely dense and I could see this happening

LeshyCat Headcanon:

So, I got this headcanon after viewing a comic where Leshy regains some of his divinity after, Yellow cat, (is this his real name or is their some other fanmade name, cat is called, anyways), confesses to Leshy that he prayed to the god of chaos, who is actually Leshy, and now I headcanon that whenever Leshy gets more divinity from yellow cat, he uses that divinity to grant boons of his power to yellow cat.

I also headcanon that the bishops, (and also Narinder and Lamb, (although lamb has not unlocked this power, yet)), can grant certain boons of their power to their followers, as either blessings or gifts that improve their followers in some way, and this is how certain followers (Amdusias, Valefar, Gusion, etc) gained their special boss forms. Now these boons can be obtained by followers of certain faiths through a number of ways blood bonds, sacrifice, but the most common way to recieve these boons of godly power is through divinity being used to grant blessings and boons. (Also, the boss followers lost their boons and blessing when they died, so that's why they don't have them anymore).

Certain bishops and other gods have different boons they can grant their followers, like Heket had boons that provided her followers immunity to mushrooms from Anura, or decreased the amount of food they needed to consume, for Kalamar, it was immunity to certain illnesses, while Shamura, blessed their followers with strength and power, due to their occupation as a war god. Leshy on the other hand granted boons that made people better at farming and plant work, while also providing boons that made random lucky things happen, and allowed followers of his faith to have more order in their lives, along side being able to grant a portion of their power to certain follower to allow them to transform.

Now, when Leshy realizes that yellow cat is praying to him, he starts using his divinity, not to rebel against the lamb but to provide his cat with bigger and bigger boons and blessings. It starts of small like yellow cat being able to collect more plants per crop grown or being able to plant and fertilize seeds better and more efficiently, then upping the quality at which Yellow cat is able to make crops be.

It then moves to certain odd, things happening, like yellow cat not being able to get befuddled from drinking at the drinkhouse, weather in Darkwood being more calm when on missions, not being attacked as often during missions.

It then reaches a boiling point, where Yellow cat is often ignored or even protected by certain creatures of Darkwood, Cultist who follow the god of chaos, sense the power on Yellow cat and either avoid him entirely, or protect him in order to be on good terms with their god, some cultists even pray to yellow cat, which he thinks is kind of wierd but thinks nothing of it.

There are many people who manage to figure out what is going on, Followers of the old faith, especially Leshy's inner circle, (ie. Amdusias, Valefar, and Barbatos), can sense their gods power and figure out from the scent of leshy that seems to emanate from Yellow Cat, other followers figure this out, from certain creatures in darkwood either ignoring Yellow cat after locking eyes with him, or followers going on joint missions with yellow cat, and having cultists from the old faith, come up to them and offer to help guide them through the dangers of Darkwood.

The bishops of the old faith realize what's happening to Yellow Cat the fastest as they used to be able to grant boons and blessings and know the slight pulse that granting boons and blessings gives off. The Lamb however, since he is the youngest of the gods, he cannot sense divine power or the feeling boons and blessings give off, but after 3 events, he finally decides to interrogate Leshy about what's going on, First, after Leshy sees that Yellow Cat only has a skull necklace, Leshy decides to get a gold skull necklace for yellow cat, (this is during the small boons and blessings phase), of course, Leshy being Leshy, decides not to ask the lamb to get Yellow Cat a Gold Necklace but to instead steal Yellow Cat's skull necklace, steal a gold skull necklace from the lamb and replace it with a skull necklace, and then pretend that the lamb wanted Leshy to give Yellow Cat this new necklace to replace the one they lost. Lamb then wakes up to find he has one more skull necklace than usual and Yellow Cat is wearing a Gold Skull Necklace, which he thinks is strange but thinks nothing of it, (Leshy already has a gold skull necklace). Then, Lamb sees all the odd traits and skills that Yellow Cat has just suddenly gained, and gets more suspicious, but the final thing that makes Lamb finally, interrogate Leshy, is that everyone in the cult (except for Yellow Cat), knows that Leshy is the Bishop of Chaos, this along with the other 2 events finally makes Lambert (along with Narinder), seek out and interrogate Leshy, and they find out everything.

Lamb is surprised that Leshy got his divinity back from yellow cat, but is confused why Leshy never sought to reclaim his godly hood, Narinder even questions him why, and while Leshy does say the thought crossed his mind but he decided otherwise, Leshy in fact never had such a thought when he learned that the person giving him his divinity was yellow cat and instead felt the need to protect yellow cat with blessings and boons. Lamb eventually decides that its fine for leshy to have his divinity back, so long as he doesn't cause trouble and lets him off with a warning and allows Yellow Cat to keep his boons.

I also headcanon that throughout this entire ordeal, Yellow Cat never once realized that Leshy was the Bishop of Chaos, instead thinking of him more like a friend that was found by the cult leader in their time of need. And that Both Leshy and Yellow Cat are incredibly dense about the relationship they have with each other, to the point that even people telling them that they're in love with each other both of them brush it off. If a follower ever asked, Yellow cat what he thinks of Leshy, he would say, that "Leshy makes me feel safer", and if a follower ever asked Leshy, what he thinks about Yellow Cat, he would say, that "I feel the need to protect my cat".

My partner implanted the idea in my head, that it would be interesting for the lamb to be mute...or non-verbal.

I think it could be one: response to trauma and two; their head got chopped off, so the vocal cords got damaged.

Even God's with their healing, resurrection etc. couldn't heal their own permanent damage...so why would Lambert....

Drew these a little while ago but I thought it’d be fun to finally post them anyway here’s my interpretation of all the bishops in their follower forms (i put them all in the regular cult member shirts but I think they’d actually wear something different)

Narinder

Drew These A Little While Ago But I Thought Itd Be Fun To Finally Post Them Anyway Heres My Interpretation

Has a bit of a love hate relationship with the lamb if you couldn’t tell (I’m a big fan of Narinder making cat noises) and also him and the lamb have an enemies to lovers arc FOR SURE. He takes out a lot of his anger by picking fights with other followers (ESPECIALLY his siblings) also takes on the role of executioner from time to time.

Leshy

Drew These A Little While Ago But I Thought Itd Be Fun To Finally Post Them Anyway Heres My Interpretation

Green worm man who causes problems on purpose and then falls in love with an orange/yellow cat👍 I also imagine he grows all sorts of different plants in his personal garden not just Camellia flowers.

Heket

Drew These A Little While Ago But I Thought Itd Be Fun To Finally Post Them Anyway Heres My Interpretation

my baby girl my queen my lovely frog wife whom I love she is the head chef but she also steals food from the kitchen aaaallllll the time. She gets very hungry very easily and also it’s her way of rebelling even if she can’t leave. She’s a surprisingly good cook. She can talk but barely and sometimes talking results in her coughing up blood so she’s learning sign language from another follower

Kallamar

Drew These A Little While Ago But I Thought Itd Be Fun To Finally Post Them Anyway Heres My Interpretation

He’s pretty pathetic tbh. He’s a good doctor but not super kind, he’d chastise and insult his patients a lot cause he’s still super upset and moody about what the lamb did. That is until followers started complaining to the lamb and the lamb intimidated him into behaving. Now he’s still moody and passive aggressive but less so, out of all his siblings he’s the most scared of the lamb. Can’t hear super well but he chooses not to listen most of the time anyway. Might also try learning sign language alongside Heket, as soon as they learn how they’d sign insults at each other until it devolves into a full on physical fight that the lamb has to break up.

Shamura

Drew These A Little While Ago But I Thought Itd Be Fun To Finally Post Them Anyway Heres My Interpretation

They actually get along very well with the lamb, they’ve made their peace with their fate and the fate of their siblings. Sometimes on rare occasions they will have long philosophical talks with the lamb. They did in fact ask to have an upper floor bedroom with a balcony for their house so they could be dramatic and brooding. They also adopted Webber as their child. Their friendship with the lamb might also be due to their very spotty memory.

The lamb gave all of them immortality necklaces they didn’t want to see them die again. Even if they weren’t gods anymore the lamb didn’t want to be the only one left who wore a godly crown. Most of the bishops are all still somewhat scared of the lamb. I imagine they eventually get used to them though.

i know the cotl official art is just silly for jokes but one of my favorite things about it is the implication that narinder chills the fuck out immediately after joining the cult. hes not even snarling or bleeding from the eyes or anything

I've seen a few people talk about this but I love the idea that Goat is from an alternative universe where Shamura is The One Who Waits and in that universe goats were the ones slaughtered and not the Lamps.

This leads me to have two thoughts.

1. Bishop Narinder, with his mini bosses being sheep based. (And maybe 2 being Aym and Baal? Or them as special Npcs in his area.)

2. TOWW Shamura being more unsettling than Bishop Shamura.

I know we love dogifying nari for the goat but I'm honestly not the biggest fan since dogs and cats are opposite but sheep and giats are so similar they're mistaken for the other

So I propose like the sheep and goat being from the bovidae family, the goat's nari is smth from the felidae family, but not the same as his current domestic cat form

So I raise this: nari as a white lion

Not only are lions part of the felidae family, but it fits another parallel: opposing symbolic connotation.

Sheep are positive symbols (purity, innocence) while goats are negative (evil, sin, satan); black cats are negative too (evil, witchcraft), while lions are positive (wisdom, courage, strength)

Additionally this can have different forms like people hc nari to be different cats

Domestic/small cat? ancient Egyptian wildcats (were positive symbols)

Big cat? Lion

Already a lion? White tiger (they have positive symbolism in some aspects)

Also I like the idea of Leshy being a millipede, heket a toad, kallamar a cuddledish, and shamura a scorpion bc they're all a little bit to the left of their original forms

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

What are your characters tells for lying?

What Are Your Characters Tells For Lying?

Text incase you can't read it:

Kallamar: "You can tell when he (Narinder) is lying because the third eye can't look at you. It's almost like it has a mind of its own- or a more direct connection to his thoughts."

Heket: "You used to be able to tell when Leshy was lying because leaves would sprout along his antlers. But he grew out of it. We can't tell anymore."

Leshy: One of Kallas' ears would always twitch. You could tell if he was confident in the lie or not based on which ear was flicking, but I don't remember which one meant what."

Narinder: "I've studied the Lamb for the longest now, but I don't believe they have a tell for lying."

Shamura: "...."

So I have this headcanon-

Based off his dialogue "Those foolish Bishops thought they could keep you from me in death. But instead they sent you straight to me." in the start of the game, and since there's no other lambs for him to use thus making OUR Lamb the last of their kind; the Bishops were doing something to prevent any lambs from going to him in death, perhaps consuming their souls (in the same way they consume follower's souls when transforming into their Eldritch forms)

Which means our Lamb's arrival was either an accident or intentional, and since Shamura already has shown to have a soft spot for Narinder, including sending him Aym and Baal so he's not lonley, and also the state of their mind at the time...I don't think it's too unlilkey that maybe it's Shamura's fault the Lamb was sent to The One Who Waits.

What was it about Narinder's final demand that upset the Lamb? Would they have been happy to return the crown if he let them live and stay by his side?

Yes they were hoping for their second chance of living to be able to, yknow, live. They wanted to help Narinder for 'saving' them, and were willing to let go of the red crown if it meant both could be free (and possibly together), only to find out that they were a sacrifice in the eyes of the god from the start.

Them

Fun fact: I've been calling the Goat Stanley because of the video I posted. That's gonna be their nickname, even if I find an actual name XD

Narinder and the Lamb are in a strange relationship. It isn't exactly romantic in the traditional sense. Their love language is wrestling (basically trying to kill each other) and then licking each others wounds clean. They don't kiss or get intimate in that sense, but you will find them clutching to each other like the other will suddenly disappear if they let go. Their love is filled with violence, sympathy, misunderstandings, knowing each other like no one else can, grief, and blood. The mutual understanding of knowing what being bound in chains is like, that instinct for freedom.

One of the main reasons the Lamb chose to turn on their god was because they wouldn't be able to see him freed. The Lamb worked so damn hard to free Narinder, so damn long. The Lamb was going to see their Beloved Narinder free, even if it meant betraying his word, and tearing those chains off themselves. They also refuse to kneel to anyone ever again, even his own God that they love so dearly.

I feel hilarious and as a horrible ShamGoat shipper I was brainstorming ideas for a them centric swap AU but like in my flavour and ended up with this

!! UNHOLY ALLIANCE UPDATE SPOILER !!

Okay so I don't know how obvious this is cause I never see it mentioned here 😭 so I'm gonna take any chance to yap

I Feel Hilarious And As A Horrible ShamGoat Shipper I Was Brainstorming Ideas For A Them Centric Swap
I Feel Hilarious And As A Horrible ShamGoat Shipper I Was Brainstorming Ideas For A Them Centric Swap

In these two statues of the goat you can see that they seem to have their body ripped open, making me wonder if this implies the goat is dead or some form of undead.

I was like cool yippeee new element to add to my own goat design :D

Then I did a lot more Goat brainrotting cause they're my comfort character (I know. Unfortunate to fixate on the player 2 character out of everything) and my brain went to the au where Shamura is the Narinder and all. Ykwim.

So I was thinking of the swap AU I wanted to make and came up with the thought of the Goat being a scapegoat. Yknow. From the bible. Then I connected that the Lamb is a sacrificial lamb that ended up not technically getting successfully sacrificed and instead started a cult. I wanted to play with that irony. So the Goat, being a scapegoat that is supposed to run away with the sins but failing and getting sacrificed in the process is a fun idea for me.

The AU is barebones concepts right now, but like what if in the swap AU the goat gets sacrificed and insteead of progressing the prophecy like the Lamb did they ended up negatively fucking it up. That's the plot or like lore I came up with.

If I do commit to making this an AU i'll figure out a story one day 😭 but this is what I got. And since the Goat is "dead" and we cant have a plot starring a corpse I imagine they DO get revived For The Plot but not like other followers, I'm talking about revived in the way that is wrong. Revived in the way that they no longer can experience life, that they're watching people live life but they're stuck like that forever.

I also want to connect this with the fact that the goat is the one who provided the cursed relics and tarots somehow. We shall find out maybe idk.

hi, i love dynamics that r like “we make each other worse” on the surface but when u look deeper it is actually just “we understand each other on a level that no one else does and nudge each other out of our typical comfort zone” which just circles around to “we make each other better”. it’s abt the accidental growth just by being in each other’s lives. idk

COTL Goats

Kinda an AU but-

What if goats exist in COTL, (besides a decoration) and are seen as rivals/ill omens to sheepkind.

Think about it- Lambs(sheep) are associated with Jesus/God, and goats are associated with Satan/Baphomet. And the goats worship the dead Gods, not the Bishops.

And maybe they're mystical, which further makes sheepkind go "nah these vibes are atrocious."

This was brought to you by my brain when I, recovering from a cold, was desperately trying to fall asleep. Edit: I think I am cooking, my dudes

COTL Goats

Lamb you're being racist staph

COTL Goats

Edit 2: ALSO ALSO what if the sheep prophecy came from a goat who received it from whatever the Mystic Seller and its kind is.

RAMBLEQ

so in the lastest chapter of Daughter of Death and Darkness I brought up the Goat, but just not in the way he appears in the game (not naked and without a crown), he instead works for the species that is the Mystic Seller.

Well, wouldn't it be crazy if the Purple Crown, which is sealed in the basement of Lamb's temple, was to suddenly vanish. Lamb is panicking, Narinder is confused and Shamura is of no help.

When suddenly the Goat appears, furious and ready to throw hands because his halo has been replaced with the Purple Crown and he can no longer communicate with his deity. The purple crown chose him because of how violent he is. he's always been ready to throw hands at the slightest hint of trouble. the mystic seller and its kind are put off by this individual but his patron is like "nah he's cool." <- knows it's only a small time before he's chosen to become the next heretical God of War, figured it could at least try to put its ideals into the Goat before he's chosen to become a God.

Probably not gonna make a fic of it but it's something I'm thinking about and wouldn't that be crazyyyyyy
