Flight to Los Angeles
“Ma’am, would you like a paper or magazine?” the flight attendant asked me. I, distracted, looked up from my computer and shook my head. I had a lot of reading left to do for my research paper and also, had my book deadline coming up next month, which wasn’t helping my situation either. It was a 13 hour flight to LA and I planned to make the most of it. I felt the seat next to me dip and I sucked a breath in. It was alright, I didn’t need to get all excited now. “I’m a professional writer, screaming will be bad for my image.” I kept repeating this thought in my head and I smiled as he smiled back.
I realized after an hour of sipping wine and working on my laptop, I had calmed down enough to look to my right again. He was sipping his drink while reading a classic. I met his eyes the moment I turned my head and he closed his book. “Don’t you love long hour flights?” He asked.
“Not really, don’t enjoy sitting in one place…” I replied, pushing my laptop away and relaxing my neck.
“Would you like another glass of wine, ma’am?” The flight attendant looked like an angel with a bottle in her hand.
“Yes please” I replied as I gave my glass to her.
“What’s your name?” he asked, his voice husky as ever.
“Y/N, Y/N Y/L/N” I replied, sipping once more for confidence.
“I’m..”
“Harry Styles, I know..”
“And, I was worried you didn’t know me!” He smirked. I swear my heart started beating faster.
I took another sip, “Who doesn’t?”
He nodded and started playing on his phone and I pulled the laptop closer to me.
“So, you’re a writer.” He spoke again.
“Did you just google me?” I asked astonished.
“N-No No..” he stuttered and pushed his phone away. “I’ve read your work.”
“Really?” I laughed, he was being cute now. “Which one have you read?”
“The Last Night…It was amazing!” He smiled proudly.
“Hmm…what did you like about it?” I asked, this was getting funny and I couldn’t control my smirk.
“Everything! The romance, the characters, the plot, the comedy”
“It was a murder” I said and his face fell. “But, it was a good try…” I smiled.
He didn’t talk for the next 45 minutes and I felt a bit guilty. “I’m a big fan of your work” I said as we finished dinner.
“Yeah?” He questioned.
“Since Xfactor honestly! Love your music..”
“What was my audition song?” He smirked.
“Isn’t she lovely, I can even tell you about the subjects you were planning to take in college.” I told him as he bit his lip.
“Damn-it!” He hit the seat in front of him. The person turned behind with a frown and he apologized. “I’ll have to read your book now!” he ruffled his hair.
“Hmm..” I laughed. We talked rubbish through the entire journey, ordering more wine and I must say, it was an awfully short flight.
