Convention Etiquette - Tumblr Posts

As a 'convention veteran' who has both attended and occasionally crewed a whole variety of them I'm really sad something happened that was significant enough for Valorie to post this. She seems so genuinely upset and believe me I can imagine what kind of comments and what kind of person she encountered. I hate when the disrespectful few ruin things for the rest and potentially put a guest off attending.

I used to ask guests to do fun photo poses etc very very respectfully (to the point they used to be surprised I'd been nervous to ask in the first place 😄). It's truly not hard to be polite to convention guests at all. If you can't remember they aren't actually the fictional characters they play then probably just stay home.

And if all else fails just do what I did when I met Karl Urban and for some reason have a complete mental blackout and basically forget to speak - although to be fair that may also be offensive in a different way 😆
