since i was younger, i always thought that it was weird that my friends would obsess over celebrities and keep track of their love lives, and have insane theories about them. i never understood how people could get attached to actors that much.

well, i guess i understand now.

i don't know how to process that one of my most favorite actors, whose most famous role shifted my perspective on humour, who made times watching TV with my mother so enjoyable and happy that it remains to be one of my happiest memories with her. chandler bing was probably one of the most definitive characters i've ever seen, and his proposal was the first time that i could remember being genuinely stressed about a tv show. seven year old me gripped the sides of the couch and cheered with the background when the proposal occurred.

matthew perry is a person, and as a person he brought to live one of the most iconic characters in fiction, and he became a major staple of my humour and personality today. thank you for your service in helping addiction in this country, and thank you for bringing so much joy to so many people.
