Also love how they paired a masc, drug dealing, straight presenting/passing man with a queer femme nonbinary person and there wasn't a talk had about it. They just liked each other as each other.
They carried the show.

omg the whole scene where Chook goes to visit Ca$h in jail is SO,,, like Chook forgiving C$h after literally getting a bunch of other eshays that Chook presumably likes (seeing as he hangs around with them so often) and almost getting Chook himself locked up is so crazy. I wanna learn more about their history because Chook goes so far as calling Ca$h family even after all he did and that is so interesting because it must mean that they have been through a lot of shit together. It's also kinda implied that Chook feels protective of Ca$h (even if his 'protectiveness' may really be the need to have power over him cough cough) from what we see in the boat scene and others.
Like imagine being Ca$h, this guy who you've known basically your whole life and have looked up to in some ways starts showing his worst side and you're forced to realise how fucked you're whole relationship has been. On top of that, most of the people around you don't understand how difficult it is to lose such a big part of your childhood (even if it was a really shitty part looking back) and then lose the protection you had while being 'Chooks kid' to try and move on and be free of who people though you should be. I get why the other characters would think dropping Chook and the other eshays would be a piece of cake because they don't really know anything about Ca$h's life with them but as a viewer, it's so sad to see Ca$h struggle and not even be able to talk to anyone about it without looking like he was fine with everything Chook and the others did.
Honestly, I could go on about Ca$h and Chook for so long and maybe I will later but I'll end my rambling here.
REAL!!! The lesbians got She-Ra meanwhile we got a cannibal, murderous and downright terrifying in their show’s terms demon, and even then we can’t have shit since a few people got horny while this specific character was on screen.
Please, atleast just understand the nuance of a character’s aro/ace-sexuality before shipping them. There’s a reason we have to headcanon a bunch of characters we relate to/like as aro and/or ace, because the representation of people on the spectrum, let alone good representation of them is so rare in media.
I’m not saying you can’t outright ship a character just because theyre canonically on the spectrum, but only for it to be taken acknowledge of.
I don’t think allo people understand: you get everyone else. Almost every single fictional character is allo. Every character that exists is allo until proven aro/ace/aroace. So on that rare occasion when we actually get representation, and when it’s genuinely good representation, please just let us have it. Many allo people are respectful, and I thank them for that, but it’s impossible to ignore the massive problem in fandom culture of downplaying the importance of, or even downright erasing, an aro/ace/aroace characters’ identities. Aro characters are shipped all the time, which is fine if you understand the nuances of the identity and see that it is a complex thing to be aromantic, but I see a lot of people who don’t, and think that they can say ‘oh but aro people can date’ as an excuse to ship a character. This happens with ace characters too, they are sexualised in fandom all the time (I’m not talking about any characters specifically, but I’ll tag a few who come to mind). Again, this is understandable if you understand, but if you are sexualising an asexual character just because you find them hot or just for the sake of it, surely you understand why we are upset. This is not me trying to pick a fight, I’m just an aroace who is frustrated.
You guys get everyone else. Just let us have the few who we see ourselves in.
Okay firstly I’m not Australian and before I watched hbh I’ve never heard of eshays (also not British so no clue about roadman either) and even now I only know about them in the fictional sense.
But everything I read about them makes me think that is rather hard to actually become one, especially one being kind of respected. Which Ca$h arguably is. Chook lets him get away with more stuff than others it seems (Ca$h lost the clothes/money and Chook let him just pay him back, which sure isn’t easy but he actually didn’t harm him for that, he punched him in the face bc Ca$h put himself between Chook and the boy). Chook also really seems to have trusted Ca$h and had some deeper bond with him, one that Ca$h reciprocated.
While we don’t know the details, Chook evidently was the person who helped Ca$h. He got him out of his troubled home, got him a family and trust and somewhere to belong. Gave him a name to be respected. And all this apparently before Ca$hs Nan was in the picture. So Ca$h had no one but Chook. So to get to the point Ca$h and Chook have a complex relationship, in which being eshays is just one part but one that definitely makes it even more difficult to get out of it.
And so I don’t understand how Darren, Harper and Amerie expect Ca$h to simply cut the eshays and especially Chook off. Like they seem to understand that they are dangerous but expect Ca$h to just walk away from them without facing consequences? Ca$h isn’t just some runner for Chook who maybe could get away with it, he’s part of Chook's inner circle.
In the end I’m just mad because they don’t think about it, Ca$h is putting his life (and to his horror also his Nan's and his friends life) in danger and the others don’t see it and are just pissed that Ca$h doesn’t do what they want him to.

Chook saying "it's just you and me lad, like the old times." when Ca$h asks 'where the others are', insinuates that in the past, Chook took Ca$h on jobs alone when he was still a minor (Ca$h's 18 in the show and I assume when Chook says 'old times' he means over a year ago). It kinda adds to the whole decision Ca$h makes of leaving the eshays because he literally grew up with them and that life, that's all he's known. Going to do shady shit with someone Ca$h probably considered family and cared about while being so young must've really shaped him growing up. Also, the way Chook says it so happily must mean that Chook genuinely enjoyed spending time with Ca$h and being alone with him and made Ca$h's decision to leave way harder because he saw how happy his (basically older brother figure) was to be spending time with them. I'm really glad that in the end, Ca$h sees how fucked up Chook and the rest of them really are and doesn't let the good image he had of them distract him from what they really were like to other people.
