Summary: A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join BTS on a Bon Voyage adventure leads to once-in-a-lifetime love.

Author’s Note: I’ve had this story rolling around in my head ever since I came across Bon Voyage. I joined the BTS fandom not long after season 4 aired, so it was the first one I saw. I just loved seeing the boys having fun in a relaxed atmosphere, doing normal things like driving, shopping, cooking, and camping.

After seeing the show, I couldn’t help but imagine what it would have been like to join the boys in New Zealand. Since then, I’ve been compelled to fit almost every Yoongi story idea I have into this headcanon and it’s just grown and grown. I decided to finally write all my ideas down in bulleted form, though some parts will warrant a separate drabble (like this one).

I know the premise for this story would never happen in real life, but that’s what’s so great about writing fanfiction, isn’t it? Let’s just suspend disbelief and have some fun! I hope you enjoy!

Part One

The Contest

There was an unprecedented sweepstakes drawing for 1 extremely lucky fan to join BTS on their next Bon Voyage adventure

You entered every day you could, though you never thought you could actually win

But you did win

The odds were a billion to 1, but you actually won

A camera crew from Big Hit came to your apartment to film your reaction when they told you that you were the winner

They played a video recording from the boys congratulating you on your win and informing you that the location for this season would be New Zealand

You were so excited you were in shock

All you could say was, “Really?!”

You hoped you didn’t embarrass yourself on camera, and hoped other ARMYs would be happy for you

After the filming, you met with a lawyer from Big Hit to go over details and sign contracts and consent forms

You were told you’d meet the boys in Seoul in 2 weeks for the initial planning meeting and that all travel arrangements were already taken care of

Going to South Korea

Over the next 2 weeks, you prepared and packed for your trip to Seoul like a crazy person

You bought 3 new outfits just for the occasion

You researched everything you could about New Zealand

You imagined and rehearsed your first meeting with the boys constantly

You were looking forward to meeting your bias, Yoongi, the most

You were also most nervous about meeting him

You hoped he liked you, that you wouldn’t make a fool out of yourself in front of him or be too shy

You also worried that he and the other boys would be different in person and that you might be disappointed

You hardly slept the night before your flight

The morning of your flight was a blur, you were amazed you managed to get on the plane

The flight was painfully long, it took all day

You passed the time listening to BTS songs and watching past seasons of Bon Voyage, your excitement growing

When you landed at Incheon International Airport, a man in a dark suit was waiting for you, holding a tablet with your name displayed

He led you to a black car where you met the Big Hit employee who would act as your escort throughout your trip

When you were all loaded into the car and on the road, your escort detailed your itinerary

You would be taken to your hotel first, where you would have a few hours to get ready before you would be taken to a restaurant to meet the boys and begin planning your trip

At the hotel, you showered, dressed, and did your hair and makeup meticulously, opting for a dressy causal look

Part Two

Meeting the Boys

On the way to the restaurant, you couldn’t help but fidget and fuss, constantly smoothing your hair, straightening your clothes, checking your makeup

At the restaurant, you were equipped with a microphone, then led to a small, private room in the back

A camera crew was ready to film your first meeting

They sprang into action as you entered the room and saw all 7 members of BTS sitting around a long table

Your heart leapt into your throat when they all stood and greeted you simultaneously

You couldn’t believe they were actually there, in the flesh, standing right in front of you, your idols that you had only ever seen on a screen or halfway across a stadium

They were all dressed casually, but still looked effortlessly beautiful

Your heart was pounding as you bowed, reciting your best “Annyeonghaseyo”

They returned your hello enthusiastically, bowing back

You waved timidly, introducing yourself

Jimin was closest to you and giving you a dazzling smile, so you moved to shake his hand but he pulled you into a tight hug

He was smaller than you expected, just barely taller than you

His embrace was warm and strong, you could feel the firmness of his muscles through his smooth shirt

He smelled amazing, like super expensive cologne

All too soon, he released you, and you turned to Hoseok, the next member in the line

He didn’t hesitate to hug you either

You continued down the line and Taehyung, Jungkook, and Namjoon greeted you in the same manner

Each embrace felt incredible, though each member felt different, and had their own unique, intoxicating scent

Then you reached Yoongi and your breath caught

He was even cuter in person, if that were at all possible

He was actually taller than you expected, though still not much taller than you

He smiled shyly at you, his gums just showing

He let you hug him too, but his embrace was more awkward, one-armed and stiff

He smelled clean with a hint of coffee, he felt lean but firm

Your heart throbbed inside your ribcage

You would have stayed with him forever, but he stepped back and you turned to Jin

But not before locking eyes with Yoongi for a split second as you turned away

His dark, beautiful eyes that were even more captivating in person

Jin hugged you warmly, then greetings were complete

Namjoon invited you to sit down, pulling a chair out between his seat and Hoseok’s

Yoongi was seated directly across from you and you couldn’t help but sneak glances at him

Whenever he caught you looking at him, his eyes seemed to twinkle

As Taehyung poured tea for everyone, the boys asked you how you became a fan and how long you’d been a fan

You shared your story happily and the boys enjoyed listening while you all started on some appetizers

You were starting to feel comfortable, almost forgetting about the cameras, and your heart rate was finally returning to normal

Then they asked who your bias was, and your heart leapt again

You looked to Namjoon and he gave you an encouraging nod

You admitted he was your initial bias

He laughed and covered his face in embarrassment as the guys erupted in teasings

“No, but wait, who’s your bias now?” Namjoon interjected

You looked to Yoongi and confessed that he bias-wrecked you

You swear he blushed, unable to stop a full-blown gummy grin from spreading across his face

The boys then turned their teasing towards Yoongi

Then the main course and drinks arrived, and you all toasted to new adventures and new friendships

You had limited experience with Korean food, so the boys enjoyed introducing you to the various dishes

As dinner progressed, you grew more relaxed as the boys continued asking you questions about yourself and you learned more about them

You were having so much fun, talking and laughing together easily, quickly feeling like old friends

Soon, you even felt comfortable enough to participate in their banter and teasing, delivering a few witty one-liners that earned compliments and hearty laughter from all the boys

Planning the Voyage

As dinner wound down, planning for the trip started in earnest

The boys excitedly began sharing things they wanted to do and see

Yoongi and Jin wanted to go fishing

Namjoon and Jungkook wanted to bungee-jump

Everyone agreed on camping and staying close to nature

You participated in the suggestions and planning some, but mostly were just content to be included

Planning took a few hours, it was late and the restaurant was closing by the time the camera crew wrapped

Until Next Time

Your escort hovered by your waiting car as you and the boys filed out of the restaurant behind the exiting camera crew, and you understood that you were expected to say goodnight now

You began thanking the boys for everything and preparing to say goodbye when Namjoon pulled out his phone

“We should exchange numbers, yeah? So we can communicate before the trip.”

You agreed a little too enthusiastically, almost in disbelief, reaching for your own phone

You suggested you give them your number, and each of them could message you theirs

The rest of the boys agreed and grabbed their phones, then typed in your number as you recited it

Within moments, your screen lit up with 7 messages from 7 different numbers

You then said goodnight, again exchanging hugs all around

Yoongi was last in line for a hug

You felt both of his hands rest gently on your upper back this time, and his chin tuck onto your shoulder

“Nice to meet you.” He breathed next to your ear, and you almost shivered

“See you soon.” He added as you both leaned out of the embrace

Your escort stepped forward to shepherd you towards the car, and you offered your final goodbyes, waving and saying thank you again as you followed him

Reluctantly, you entered the waiting car, still exchanging waves with the boys as the driver pulled away

As you were driven back to your hotel, you began saving the boys’ phone numbers in your phone, taking a moment to mentally freak out that you - YOU - now had the personal cell phone numbers of all 7 members of BTS

What’s more, you - you - had just had dinner with them

And hugged them all

Twice

You clutched your phone to your chest, silently pleading to please - please - not wake up if this was all just a dream

As if on cue, your phone chimed in your hands with an incoming message

You lifted it from your chest to see the name Kim Namjoon on your screen

Your pulse pounding, you quickly tapped the notification

His message was formal and polite, but sincere, and characteristic of the Bangtan leader

You replied quickly as your car pulled into the hotel parking lot, thanking him fervently and promising to keep in touch

As you made your way to your room and settled in for the night, you still could not believe your luck

But as truly unbelievable as it was, you really were going to spend a whole week with the Bangtan boys - all 8 of you together 24/7 for 7 days - in New Zealand next month

And you couldn’t wait

Author’s Note: I feel like this is going to end up having a million parts if I continue with this amount of detail, but I can’t help myself. This is just how my brain works. 😄 Anyway, I’m not sure if I need to say this, but I wrote this from the perspective of an American ARMY. Hope that doesn’t bother anyone. Also, I imagine you to be the same age as Yoongi, so you’re not technically a noona to him, but I don’t like using “Y/N,” so I’ll just use “noona” as his nickname for you for now. Oh, and one last thing: for the purposes of this story, let’s just pretend there’s no language barrier between you and the boys, okay? Okay! Let’s get it!

Part Three

Countdown to Bon Voyage

When you returned home from Korea, a group chat was started so you and the boys could keep each other updated and get hyped for your trip

You heard from at least one member every day during the weeks leading up to your departure

The boys had the month off from all BTS obligations so they had a lot more free time

Most of the boys went home to visit their families

Yoongi was working on his mixtape and occasionally shared lyrics (and you’d tease him for working during their break)

Jin was living his best life just sleeping and gaming

Namjoon reported on the many art museums he visited

Hoseok was working on a song collaboration and would send videos of his dance

Jimin was traveling and checked in every time he arrived somewhere new

Taehyung shared photos he took while traveling with his friends

Jungkook was writing some songs and bounced ideas off of everyone

You worked as a home stager and the boys (especially Yoongi) loved hearing about your job and seeing before-and-after pictures of your work (no one could appreciate a well-chosen lamp quite like Yoongi)

When you weren’t working, you spent all your time preparing for the trip and would occasionally ask the boys what they would recommend for you to pack

By the time departure day arrived, you felt like you had already grown close with all of them and you couldn’t wait to see them again

Departure Day

Logistically, it made the most sense for you to meet the boys in New Zealand instead of flying together

You were a little bummed about it, but you knew you’d have plenty of time together in the coming days

The morning of your flight, a two-man camera crew met you at the airport so they would have footage of you on your way

They also gave you a GoPro camera, which you were a little self-conscious about using

But everyone in the airport was already staring at you because you were being followed by a camera crew, so you decided to just go with it

As you boarded your flight, you were amazed by the first-class seat that had been reserved for you

Your phone chimed with a message as you settled into your spacious and private seat

You fell asleep soon after takeoff, and slept most of the way

When you weren’t sleeping, you rewatched the The Lord of the Rings movies (‘cause, you know, New Zealand)

Reunited in New Zealand

After flying all day with a brief layover in Los Angeles, you finally arrived in Christchurch, NZ

The view out your window as the plane landed was nothing but snow-covered mountains as far as the eye could see, and it was incredible

You texted the boys as soon as you touched down on the runway

You and your cameramen made your way through the airport to meet everyone at baggage claim

You spotted Jungkook first, though you almost didn’t recognize him because his hair was noticeably longer than the last time you saw him

When Jungkook saw you his face lit up with a huge smile and he called out to you

The other boys looked up at Jungkook’s exclamation and several of them rushed you

Almost before you could say “hi,” you were swept up in Jungkook’s arms and he was spinning you around as you laughed

As soon as he placed you back on your feet, Jimin wrapped his arms around you, lifting you a few inches off the ground too

“Yah, let the girl breathe! You’re suffocating her!” Yoongi scolded as he approached

You looked to him as Jimin let go of you and your heart did a thing

It wasn’t like when you first met him last month either

That had been nervousness, anticipation, excitement

Now it was like... relief

Because you’d missed him, and you were so happy to see him again

And also relief that he was real, and you hadn’t been imagining all this

Then he gave you a shy smile, and your heart did an even bigger thing

Because, dang it, he was cute

Even with - no, especially with - a mask under his chin, sunglasses on his face, and his hair held back by a headband

You moved to give him a hug and he met you halfway

His embrace felt even better than you remembered, warm and comfortable

You just fit together

But when you wrapped your arms around him, you noticed he felt thinner

You asked him if he lost weight as you leaned out of the hug

Hoseok answered for him, saying he’d lost 4 kilograms over break

“He wanted to impress you, noona,” He teased

Yoongi swatted at him, but Hoseok evaded his reach

After you’d greeted all the boys (minus Jin, as the boys informed you he’d be arriving separately a little later), you headed out of the airport as a group

As soon as you stepped outside, you were met by a cool, fresh breeze, and you were glad you wore long sleeves and leggings

A shuttle bus with a luggage trailer was waiting for you and the boys started loading up their bags

You rolled your suitcase over, but before you could load it, Yoongi wordlessly took it from you and lifted it into the trailer

You tried to thank him, but he shrugged it off

You then climbed into the bus with Yoongi right behind you, and he sat down next to you on the front bench seat

As you waited for the shuttle to leave, the boys asked about your flight and you asked about theirs

They told you all about laying over in Singapore and the awesome airplane with seats that folded down into beds

You told them about your layover and how this was your first time flying first-class

The boys also taught you the Bon Voyage cheer they had come up with for this season, but you decided to wait to actually do it until Jin was there

Then you were on your way to pick up the camper and the SUV you would be using all week

Ready, Set, Go

As you drove through Christchurch, you discussed the clear skies and beautiful weather and your mutual excitement

At the rental company, you and the boys signed forms to be drivers, then were led to a room with a table and office chairs to watch an instructional video

Yoongi held your chair for you as you sat so it wouldn’t roll out from under you, then took the seat next to you

After the video, you went back outside to get a tour of the camper and saw that Jin had finally arrived

You and the boys greeted Jin with enthusiastic hugs

An employee then gave instructions about the camper and pointed out its features

As he explained how to empty the wastewater tank, the boys joked about coordinating their bathroom schedules and showering two at a time (Yoongi’s suggestion)

But they ultimately agreed that, unless there was an emergency, only you would be allowed to use the onboard bathroom and they would use the campsite bathrooms

They also agreed that you would have one of the onboard beds to yourself and they would share the remaining beds or sleep in the tents

Once instructions were finished, the boys started loading the luggage into the camper and once again, Yoongi took your suitcase for you

And you smiled to yourself as you realized his chivalry was going to be a trend throughout your trip

When you were all loaded up and ready to go, you gathered with all the boys and did your first official “Bon Voyage” chant (and you couldn’t help but giggle at the way they pronounced “voyage”, with a long “e”)

You then divided into vehicles, and you followed Yoongi, Jin, and Namjoon to the SUV

Jin got in the driver’s seat, and Yoongi and Namjoon tried to offer you the passenger’s seat, but you declined and opted for the backseat, so Namjoon sat up front and Yoongi joined you in the back

Then, with one more cheer out the window with the camper team, you set out, finally starting off on the real adventure

Part Five

Sunset Drive

Before you even left the highway cafe, Jin fell sound asleep behind you, so you, Yoongi, and Namjoon kept quiet and tried not to disturb him

Namjoon started looking at his phone in the backseat, leaving you and Yoongi to have your own hushed conversation

You remembered he had his wisdom teeth taken out just before the trip and asked how he was feeling

He admitted his mouth was still a little sore, but he felt mostly fine

He had been worried the trip would be difficult for him, but he was doing much better than he expected

You told him you were glad he was feeling better and that you hoped he was enjoying himself

With a faint smile, he assured you that he was

As the sun set, it painted the sky purple, and when you began your ascent up into the mountains, an impressive view opened up

You, Yoongi, and Namjoon marveled at the sight

Yoongi told Namjoon to wake Jin up to see, and Namjoon nudged him

Jin barely opened his eyes before turning his head and going back to sleep, mumbling in agreement, and the rest of you laughed at his response

A few minutes later, the producer radioed to tell you to turn off to the left

You examined the navigation app on your phone; you still had miles to go to your accommodation and there wasn’t anything on the map at this point

But as Yoongi pulled over and you saw the shimmering lake situated in the valley of the mountains, you realized the crew didn’t want you to miss this stunning scene

The crew asked everyone to exit the vehicles and explore, so you followed the boys down to the water’s edge, pulling on your parka as you walked across the pebbly shore

The view was breathtaking, and you and the boys pulled out your phones to try to capture it

While you were taking a picture, Yoongi walked into the frame, reaching down to touch the water

He immediately recoiled when he felt the temperature, declaring that it was freezing

You laughed at him, and he reached for you in retaliation, grasping your hand with his wet, icy fingers

You gasped, pulling your hand away and shaking off the water, and it was Yoongi’s turn to laugh at you

Next to you, Hoseok told Jimin he should wash his face in the lake, and he promptly complied, splashing his face while noisily reacting to the cold

Then Yoongi suggested the drivers should splash themselves to wake up, and he and Jungkook proceeded to wet their hands and faces (and in Jungkook’s case, his hair)

Curious, you hesitantly bent next to Yoongi, quickly skimming your hands through the frigid water before both of you retreated, your skin painfully red

As you headed back to the warmth of the vehicles, Yoongi wondered if the water was clean enough to drink

You replied that it was likely glacier water and so probably fairly clean, and one of the crew members confirmed your assumption

Yoongi shouted back to the others that they could drink the water if they wanted to, but they were too busy taking pictures

Once everyone was back inside the SUV and the camper, you continued on your way as darkness gradually descended

Settling In

Soon, you reached your accommodation for the night, and as you pulled up to the cabin nestled in at the base a mountain, Namjoon spotted two dogs running down the driveway to greet you

As you all piled out of the vehicles, you and the boys became acquainted with the friendly grey and white dogs

Everyone then headed inside the cabin, and you warmed yourselves around the wood-burning stove for a few minutes before checking out the bedrooms

As usual, the boys made a big production out of choosing rooms

They drew numbers, then took turns picking bunks between two rooms

Yoongi, Namjoon, and Jungkook ended up in one room, and Jin, Hoseok, Jimin, and Taehyung shared the other room

Your choice had already been made for you: a small, private room with only one set of bunks on the opposite end of the hallway

Once rooms were decided, everyone brought the luggage in, settled into their bunks, and began taking turns washing up

The boys let you shower first, giving the bathroom a wide berth while you were using it to ensure your privacy

When you were back in your room and just finishing getting dressed, you overheard Yoongi in the hallway asking around for a hairdryer

Thankful that you had ultimately chosen to pack yours, you grabbed your dryer from your suitcase and opened your door to offer it to Yoongi

He accepted it gratefully, not seeming to mind that it was hot pink, but then he hesitated in your doorway for a moment

“Something smells minty,” he said curiously

You touched your damp hair, chuckling, and explained that your shampoo had peppermint oil in it

“Mmm,” he nodded, inhaling, “It smells nice.”

You agreed with another chuckle, then he thanked you for the hairdryer and walked off to find an outlet

A little later, after the last of the boys emerged from the shower, you all gathered back in the main room for dinner

First Night in NZ

A sizable buffet of comfort food had been laid out by the cabin staff, and you didn’t hesitate to load up your plate

Yoongi and Hoseok were already sharing the love seat when you came to join the boys circling around the coffee table, but Hoseok quickly scooted over, patting the seat between him and Yoongi

A silent understanding passed between you and Hoseok; you gave him a secret, grateful smile, and he gave you the subtlest wink in return

Then you squeezed between them, and Yoongi felt so warm and cozy pressed up against you, you had to resist the urge to just snuggle up to him

As you ate, the white dog (whose name was Ziki, you found out) took up an adorable vigil at Yoongi’s feet, and it reminded him how his dog, Holly, would beg for food

He asked if you have any pets, and you answered that you haven’t had a pet since you moved out of your parents’ house, but recently you considered maybe adopting a cat

And when he asked why you wanted a cat, your reply that you relate to them on a spiritual level earned you a gummy smile

After stuffing yourselves with roast lamb and potatoes (and the ramyeon and kimchi the boys just had to have), the energy of the group was fading, but you still raised your glasses to toast to “a successful trip around New Zealand”

As you lounged around on the sofas enjoying your drinks, Jimin mentioned how he was most comfortable around the other boys

Namjoon agreed, and explained that their bond was so strong from living and working together for so long

Then Yoongi shared that he was more comfortable during this Bon Voyage than he’d been during any other season

“Even with me here?” You asked him, feeling a little like an outsider with such a tight-knit group

“You fit right in,” He reassured you

The rest of the boys agreed that they were comfortable around you and that they were glad you were with them, too

“You have a comforting presence,” Yoongi added, and the boys nodded their agreement

You could feel their sincerity, and it warmed your heart and put a smile on your face as you thanked them for being so welcoming

A little while and a few topics of conversation later, you finished your drinks with a final “cheers” and another “Bon Voyage” chant before everyone dispersed

Jungkook and Hoseok wandered outside to see the stars, and you, Yoongi, and Taehyung followed

The sky was the clearest you’d ever seen, sprinkled with more twinkling stars than you could ever count

After a few moments of admiration, you each attempted to photograph it, but you all found it difficult to get a clear picture with your phones

Giving up, you put your phone away and turned around to find Yoongi pointing his directly at you

You smiled for him, then asked why he was taking a picture of you instead of the stars

He didn’t look up from his screen as he shrugged, “You’re shining brighter.”

And you wondered if he knew how he made your tummy flutter

Then you and they boys decided it was too cold to stay outside and headed back in

The production crew finally stopped filming, and was packing up the camera equipment for the night

You didn’t want to say goodnight, but you were beyond tired and could tell everyone else was, too

You waved goodnight to the boys still idling in the lounge before heading down the hallway

Yoongi followed close behind you, seeing you to your room

At your door, he expressed his hope that you’d had a good first day

You replied that you’d had the best day, and that you were looking forward to tomorrow’s adventures

Though you weren’t sure how anything could top today

You also thanked him personally for ensuring you felt included, letting him know his little gestures did not go unnoticed by you

He got a little flustered at that, touching his ears, and you found it so cute that he had no idea how to take a compliment

Then with a small bow, he wished you a good night and a good sleep, and made his way to his own room

You watched him until he disappeared through the doorway, then closed your door and settled into your bed

And despite the adrenaline coursing through your body, your exhaustion quickly overcame you

You fell asleep easily as your mind replayed all the most memorable events of the day, recalling every conversation, every smile, and every touch you and Yoongi had shared

Part Six

Good Morning NZ

You awoke gradually in the morning to the sounds of the production crew and maybe some of the boys getting up and around

After the quick and relieving realization that yesterday had not been just a good dream, you hopped out of bed and began getting dressed

You knew a hike up the mountain was the first activity on the day’s schedule, so you chose your outfit accordingly

Just as you finished lacing up your hiking boots, you heard a knock on your bedroom window

Curious, you pulled open the curtains to find Jimin waving in at you

You waved back cheerily, then made your way out to the main part of the cabin

In the lounge, you found Jin and Namjoon starting on the breakfast buffet while Jungkook told them how he’d already hiked up the trail

You poured yourself a bowl of cereal and took a seat at the table, exchanging “good morning”s with the boys

Not much later, Jimin came inside, his boots caked with mud, just as Yoongi made his appearance, looking as adorable as always

He caught your eye as soon as he entered the lounge, giving you a small nod in greeting, and you couldn’t help but smile back at him

Your heart made its usual leap each time you saw Yoongi, and you began to doubt you’d ever get used to being around him

He came over to the table and took the seat next to you, inquiring about your night as he sat

You replied that you’d slept soundly through the night, better than you’d expected, and he was glad to hear it

Yoongi then asked the others when you’d be leaving on your hike, saying he’d wait to eat until they got back so he could do some fasting cardio

You, Namjoon, and Jin exchanged smiles as you all continued eating, facetiously agreeing to do some fasting cardio too

Then Namjoon informed Yoongi that you were just waiting on Taehyung and Hoseok to be ready

When you finished your cereal and cleaned up your bowl, you returned to the table to wait with the boys

Giving you a cursory glance as you sat between him and Jimin, Yoongi remarked that he liked your headband

You were wearing the one he bought you and you were pleased that he’d noticed

Jimin overheard Yoongi and, hoping for a compliment too, leaned around you to ask his hyung if he liked his cap

Yoongi hardly spared him a glance before dispassionately approving of his headwear too, and Jimin beamed

Finally, Taehyung and Hoseok emerged and you were all ready to hit the trail

A Mountain Hike

Jin led the charge out of the cabin and up the trail, and the rest of you followed, with you and Yoongi bringing up the rear

As you hiked, you and the boys sang your “Bon Voyage” chant, improvising different versions like acoustic and EDM

It was a beautiful day; the sun was shining brightly, and though the air was cool, you began to feel warm in your down coat

When you reached the top of an incline, you pulled out your phones to take pictures of the expanse of snowy mountains

On his way to hand a GoPro camera to Taehyung, Namjoon tripped and fell, landing on his back

He didn’t seem hurt, only embarrassed, but you hurried over to check on him while the boys laughed

Namjoon was grateful for your concern, and when he was back on his feet you helped him brush the dirt off of his clothes

While you assisted Namjoon, Yoongi observed you, seemingly deep in thought

Then Jungkook suggested you take a 360-degree shot, so you all gathered around and performed another acoustic rendition of “Bon Voyage” for the camera, really getting into it

When you finished your song, the boys decided to play rock-paper-scissors to see who should continue up the trail until they reached the snow

You, Hoseok, Jin, and Taehyung won the first round, and Namjoon and Jungkook won the second, leaving Yoongi and Jimin

The two losers groaned and you took pity on them, offering to accompany them

No one argued with you, so the three of you began your trudge uphill while the rest of the group headed back down

You climbed steadily higher, but the snow never seemed to get any closer

You were starting to get tired, and you could tell Yoongi was too, but you both pressed on, encouraging each other

Like him, you weren’t a particularly active person; you could rally to participate in the occasional physical activity, but you much preferred activities that allowed you to stay still

Finally, you reached the crest of the hill, and you and Yoongi immediately sat on the ground to rest

Seeing your exhaustion, Jimin kindly offered to run ahead and grab some snow to prove you made it to the top

After obtaining a solid chunk, you all started back down the trail, joking as you walked about making iced Americanos with the snow

When you arrived back at the cabin, you stopped outside the door to clean off your muddy boots, and the other boys were amazed that the three of you actually made it all the way up

Since it would be time to leave soon and Jimin and Yoongi hadn’t eaten anything yet, Hoseok offered to make each of you some of his special toast

You finished cleaning up first, and went inside to help Hoseok gather ingredients from the buffet

Yoongi wasn’t far behind you, and told Hoseok that you’d encountered a bear on the trail but he’d subdued it with a chokehold

You laughed appreciatively, but Hoseok was busy preparing food and was unimpressed by Yoongi’s tale

When Hoseok finished, you, Yoongi, and Jimin enjoyed his golden toast concoction, thanking him for the good meal

Yoongi remarked that he doesn’t usually care for breakfast food, and you were surprised, replying that you love breakfast and could eat it all day

Sipping his iced coffee, he casually commented that he might enjoy it more if you made it for him

And you thought that sounded like something you would enjoy too

On the Road Again

After you were done eating, everyone gathered their belongings and loaded up into the vehicles

You, Yoongi, and Jin chose to ride in the SUV again, but Namjoon traded Taehyung for a seat in the camper

No one spoke much as Jin drove, and Taehyung wondered if he’d ended up in the quiet car

You and Yoongi assured him that you were plenty loud the day before, but that you were just tired right now

So to lift the energy of your group, Taehyung started playing some upbeat music, and everyone quickly joined in on another episode of carpool karaoke

The camper van team even joined in, and your groups sang back and forth over the walkie-talkies

After a while, Jungkook pulled the camper into a gas station to refuel and Jin followed

While Jungkook filled up the tanks and cleaned the windshields, you and the others wandered inside the convenience store next to the gas station

The store had all kinds of cold-weather accessories, and Jimin found a cute furry hood with an attached scarf

You and Namjoon liked it so much, you each decided to get one too

Yoongi chose a pair of gloves, but as you stood in line at the register, he realized he left his wallet in the car

You offered to pay for his purchase, but he declined, not wanting you to spend your money on him

You tried to convince him, saying he could pay you back or buy something for you if he insisted, but he was still hesitant

Ultimately, Hoseok decided he would pay for everyone, but you assured Yoongi you wouldn’t have minded helping him out and he meekly thanked you

As you were piling back into the vehicles, Hoseok realized he’d bought one too many hats, and returned to the store for a refund

While he was inside, Jin suggested pulling a hidden camera prank and pretending to leave Hoseok behind

You and Yoongi were already in the backseat of the SUV when Jin and Taehyung climbed in the front, sniggering as they told you both the plan

As Jin drove off, Yoongi expressed his disapproval, and you agreed that it was kind of mean

A few minutes later, Hoseok called and was clearly upset

Taking pity on him, Jin turned the car around and went to pick him up from the side of the road

You scooted over to the middle of the backseat to make room for Hoseok, and when he got in you were practically squished against Yoongi

He didn’t seem to mind (though he may have blushed)

(And you might have blushed just a little bit too)

He just moved his arm across the back of the seat behind you, shifting to give you more room, and you fit into the curve of his shoulder

Once Hoseok was safely transferred back to the camper, you reluctantly returned to your own seat, exchanging a shy smile with Yoongi

Both vehicles then continued on toward your next destination

Conversation in the SUV dwindled as the miles went by, and you could tell Yoongi was growing drowsy

You told him he should try to get some rest while he could, and he leaned his head back and closed his eyes without any argument

Within moments, his breathing evened out, and you knew he was sound asleep

And you couldn’t help but admire him as he slept, your fondness growing

An Outdoor Lunch

Midway through the day, your group stopped for lunch at a cute farm with a cafe, and you gently nudged Yoongi awake as Jin parked

The sun was bright and warm, so you and the boys chose to sit at a table outside

There was a swing set by your table, so while you waited for your food, you and Jungkook took turns pushing each other on the swing

You felt so light and carefree as you swung, giggling happily

And you couldn’t help but notice Yoongi watching, his gaze fixed on you as he sipped his drink

When the waitress brought the food out, you and Jungkook took your place at the table, and Yoongi slid over to make space for you next to him on the bench

Before you even had a chance to take a bite of your panini sandwich, Yoongi wordlessly slid some of his sweet potato fries onto your plate

And took a couple of your French fries, but you didn’t object

As everyone ate, you discussed the agenda for the rest of the day

You would be cooking for yourselves that night and Yoongi wanted to pick up a few more supplies, so it was decided that the whole SUV team would get the groceries and meet up with the camper team afterwards

So when lunch was finished, you, Yoongi, Jin, and Taehyung said “see you later” to the others, and headed out to the store

Part Eight

Rise and Shine

A knock on your bedroom door woke you from a deep sleep

As you rubbed your eyes blearily, Namjoon spoke from the other side of the door, letting you know it was time to get up

You acknowledged him, then heard him walk away

Stretching, you tried to remember the dream you’d just been in, but it had already fled your memory

All you could recall was that it was about Yoongi, and it was a good dream

Anxious to see the real Yoongi, you threw back your covers and hurried to get ready for the day

You found him with Namjoon and Hoseok in the main room, already dressed and getting ready to leave

And once again, Yoongi looked cuter than anyone had a right to in his headband, plaid shirt, khakis, and boots

The boys greeted you with kind faces, and your heart was warmed by the sight

You bid them good morning, then moved to help Yoongi clear off the dining table

Not looking up from his task, he passed you a granola bar and water bottle as you approached

You thanked him with a grin, then jokingly asked if he already ate or if he was going to do some more fasting cardio today

His lips twitched into almost a smile, and he replied that he’d had some mandarins and a granola bar too

The remaining boys wandered out eventually, and together you made quick work of packing up

Before you headed out, everyone gathered around to do your Bon Voyage chant to start the day, then you divided into vehicles 

Yoongi opted to drive the SUV, and you rode shotgun on the way to the grocery store

More Shopping

At the store, you and Yoongi worked together again, now like a well-practiced team

The others meandered up and down the aisles, leaving the two of you to collect all the ingredients for another dinner

As you browsed the sauce section, Yoongi casually asked you what your favorite food is

Pasta, you replied, of any kind

He nodded, agreeing that he could (and usually did) eat noodles everyday 

Choosing a jar of an Asian sauce you were unfamiliar with, Yoongi asked if you were enjoying Korean food or if you were tired of it yet

You were enjoying it, you told him, and you were particularly looking forward to his cooking again that night

He smiled at that, saying his food was nothing special, and when you begged to differ, he laughed

Later, while you were checking out, Hoseok noticed a coffee counter and asked for anyone who wanted coffee to raise their hand

Yoongi was distracted paying for the groceries, so you raised both your hands, telling Hoseok as he counted, “And Yoongi.”

You then helped Hoseok pass out the coffees, and Yoongi thanked you for ordering one for him

When you exited the grocery store, Taehyung wanted to show everyone else the zip-line that he, you, and Jin rode the day before

Namjoon, Hoseok, Jimin, and Jungkook were excited to try it, but Yoongi still wasn’t interested, so you accompanied him to wait in the car

As you followed behind Yoongi, one of the producers sought your attention, and asked if you were sure you didn’t want to join the others

Caught off-guard, you said it was okay, you already rode the zip-line yesterday

The producer seemed unsure, but allowed you to continue, and you noticed Yoongi give him a look

“What was that about?” You asked Yoongi, when you were back inside the SUV

He shrugged, “He probably thought they needed more footage of you with all the members.”

You sensed there was more he wasn’t saying, but you chose not to press him

While you waited, you sipped your hot coffee, and talked about what you normally do for fun

You told Yoongi how you loved to travel, take photographs, watch movies, read books, and, when you were younger, play basketball

He was intrigued to hear you played basketball, and asked you all about being on your highschool team

You admitted your skills were only slightly above-average, and not what they used to be, but agreed to a friendly one-on-one game with Yoongi at the first opportunity

A Watercolor Lake

As soon as the other boys finished riding the zip-line and everyone was ready to go, Yoongi started the SUV down the road and Jungkook followed in the camper

In the backseat with his coffee and a snack bar, Jin asked if he looked a New Yorker eating breakfast

You, Yoongi, and Namjoon agreed that, actually, he looked like a native New Zealander

Then Yoongi remarked that he hadn’t had any of his coffee yet

Feeling bad, you offered to help him drink while he drove, but he said it was okay because the coffee was still too hot

On the way to your next destination, you drove by a large, beautiful lake, and you were all stunned by the striking turquoise color

Over the walkie-talkie, a producer informed you that it was Lake Pukaki, and asked if you wanted to stop to see it

Yoongi quickly responded that he’d rather keep going, but Jimin requested a stop on behalf of the camper team, so you all agreed to pull off the road

As you all walked to the water’s edge, Yoongi observed that the scene was like a watercolor painting, and you agreed

You were more and more amazed by New Zealand’s natural beauty at every turn

And having Yoongi and the boys by your side only made everything better

Yoongi then asked if anyone knew how to skip stones, and Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook started a competition

You tried your hand at skipping stones too, but found it was harder than it looked

So you gave up, and took some pictures instead

But when you tried to take a selfie in front of the lake, you were photobombed by Yoongi, Jungkook, and Taehyung, grinning and jumping in the background of your shot

Mount Cook Trek

When you were back on the road, you and the boys passed the time singing songs

After some miles, the peak of snowy Mount Cook - your destination - came into view

Jin and Namjoon wondered if any of their songs talked about mountains, and you were struck with inspiration 

Syncing your phone to the car’s speakers, you began playing “Spring Day,” and the boys agreed that it was the perfect song choice

Finally, you arrived at the head of the trail and met up with the camper team for an hour and a half trek to Mt. Cook’s glacier beds

Before you took off, you gathered around for another 360-degree camera shot and a Bon Voyage chant, then started down the trail 

You and Yoongi found yourselves with Jin at the front of the pack this time while the rest of the boys lagged behind

The trail was level and the sun was warm and it was an all-around pleasant and leisurely hike

After a little while, Yoongi expressed his regret that he didn’t apply sunscreen, and you quickly produced a tube from your pack

He thanked you as he took the sunscreen from you, amusedly commenting that you always seemed to anticipate his needs, and your stomach fluttered in response

About a third of the way up the trail, you encountered a metal suspension bridge spanning a rushing creek the same turquoise color as Lake Pukaki

You stepped onto the bridge first, and were startled when you felt it sway slightly under your feet

Close behind you, Yoongi placed a hand on your lower back, steadying you, and his proximity immediately comforted you - and thrilled you

He asked if you were okay, speaking low and close so only you could hear, and when you said you were fine, just surprised, he dropped his hand and you continued across

Another bridge soon followed, but this time you were prepared and walked steadily over it

After about an hour of paced trekking, Jin grew restless, and suddenly took off running

He called to you and the others to join him, but most of the boys were too tired and refused

Jimin and Namjoon were game though, and after exchanging a glance, you and Yoongi jogged behind them for a bit too

Eventually, you crossed a third bridge and hiked over a rocky ridge to finally reach the glacial valley

A stretch of hard snow lined the gravelly shore, and you and the boys walked on it, joking around and taking pictures in front of the majestic mountains

Then, tired after the hike, you took a seat on one of the bigger rocks and a few of the boys did too

Yoongi sat closest to you, and you watched in companionable silence as Jimin and Namjoon threw snow at each other in front of you

Jimin then came over by you and started stacking stones to make a little tower

You and Taehyung joined him, making your own stone stacks, and when you were all done, you each took a moment to make a wish

You reverently clasped your hands, looking heavenward as you stood by your tower, and wished, hoped, and prayed that Yoongi cared for you the way you cared for him

And, if he did, that he would let you know for sure soon

Completing your wish, you looked to Yoongi and found him observing you intently

And when he caught your gaze, the corner of his mouth lifted into the gentlest smile
