*Captain Marvels your Superboy*
haha finally debuting my magical girl marvels au! i was thinking of a manga cover while making this; i really wanted it to have a kinda hyperpop and sailor moon style.
So! In my version of this AU, the Marvels travel through different dimensions to fight the forces of evil to balance the multiversal scale! They do this, via train! The train is usually a subway, but it magically adapts to the dimensions they are in. (Ex. Submarine Looking Train for a mainly water dimension, an old style train for a dimension with a earlier timeline.)
Billy Batson is a Train Conductor! I based his outfit on those train conductor uniforms and I really like it. His main base powers are, of course, lighting, and the ability to make portals! He uses the portals in his fighting style, dodging with portals instead of blocking attacks. Billy can only teleport to a mirror dimension without the aid of the train, so he actually teleports to the mirror dimension in fights when he dodges, then portals back to the og dimension. The train boosts his powers so his ability to travel to the mirror dimension is enhanced, and he can travel to other dimensions when using the train. (Other then that, its a basic portal power lol)
Mary’s design was inspired by fairy tale princes, which is actually really random but I made it work. I wanted the three of them to be different genres of magical girls, but still fit look like they are in the same style. Her base powers in this AU is basically charisma (yes, literal charms), and lightning. So, her charisma powers are pretty much just that people will be more inclined to do things her way; she lets off an aura of power + confidence that no one can say no to (besides Billy and Freddy, they are immune). She also will look extremely intimidating to people when she wants to. So in a nutshell, her power is to change the way people perceive her, and use that to her advantage. Mary often uses this to do undercover work, or info gathering about the dimension they are in.
Freddy, is a mermaid based magical girl. He can shift between having a mermaid tail and his legs. His base powers are hydrokinesis (ability to control water) and (can you guess it?) lightning! Though not shown here, Freddy actually uses water to float himself around. The water is thinly covered over his body and he uses that to get around without his crutches. He learned how to do this after seeing how he can float in the water when swimming. Freddy doesn’t do this all the time because it requires a lot of control and it can tire himself out. He used to do it all the time, but once in a battle, he shifted all his focus into the fight and lost control of the water that makes him float. Freddy learnt to not completely rely on his powers all the time after that. I’ll go more into this specific event later bc I think this scenario would really impact how Freddy sees his disability, and how he learns to accept it. I imagine this Freddy is more recently disabled and that he still has bitter feelings about it. The thing with Freddy’s dad in the boat still happened (they got attacked by one of Billy’s enemies), and that’s when he got his leg injury. He met Billy that way and got his powers. (Basically just how CM3 got his powers.. idk why im explaining it)
The thing is that I, myself, am not disabled so I need a bit of help understanding what that would be like to accurately write Freddy’s struggles with his disability. 😭
Another thing is that I’m not sure what their hero names would be? I tried doing those precure names like ‘Cure Marvel!’ but that would only work for one of them and I would still need names. Marvel *insert something here* or *something* Marvel is an idea but I wouldn’t know what to put.

D: Darla then came bursting into the room, holding two crutches, running to the group. She had a gleeful grin, looking proud of herself. "I found them! It was in the doors room. I had to wrestle one of those octopus monsters for it!” Darla passed the crutches over to Eugene, who set them up under Pedro until they were stable before letting go of him. (Technically not a WIP but still a WIP is this already posted chapter of SUFC)
A: Anyways, which extraterritorial leader decided Tuesday was a good day to schedule a whole ass alien invasion? Especially at 10 in the morning? Not to mention that they specifically aimed for Fawcett City, like just why? The city was strange enough, dealing with all kinds of magical beings and time bubbles, and now add aliens to the list! Billy already had enough on his plate, thank you very much! (Untitled Shazamily WIP)
N: “Nope, everything’s always slow in the fall. Y’know how it is. Crime’s low, food’s low, and usual jobs are taken by the time I get there.” Billy sighed again for a second time, before slipping on his worn-out red sneakers. In the fall, he was lucky to even get a leaf raking gig, but even that was a long shot. (Untitled Champion of Magic centered fic)
C: Captain Marvel descended down to the scene, meeting face to face with Black Adam. His cape shone and sparkled in the sunlight, billowing in the wind— almost in a divine way. Marvel’s gaze met Black Adam’s, tensing up the atmosphere. The pressure grew as silence greeted the two. They both studied each other, calculating when the other would strike. Black Adam smirked, before he gave the first blow. Luckily, good ol’ Herc warned Billy in time before he got his head blown inwards. (Same untitled wip as the one for N)
E: -existing.” “But, dude, you literally one-shot them everytime one somehow ends up at the rock. Plus, when you are at those league meetings, we always clean them up for you!” Freddy pointed out, with an accusatory tone. “I know! But it’s still annoying as hell! Like I’m literally just walking around, and suddenly there’s a demon after my head.” Billy groaned, leaning on the armrest of the throne. (SUFC deleted scenes)

Thinking about Billy Batson again and about how unconventional he is in his approach to dealing with villains and their scheming and battling them in such a creative but ultimately childlike way that it psychologically befuddles his enemies.
Imagine Mister Mind using a phone to relay his monologue message via calling through it and saying something like-
"Hello Captain, I've been working on another, but better and newer scheme! This time, with my brilliant mind I've devised to kidnap half the citizen's in Fawcett city! And strap them to a beam that can vaporize the OTHER half of the citizens! A trolley problem of sorts! So meet me in the middle of the city and we can—"
"kshhk-- chhkkkk-- ch ch-- sorry, what? Kshhk-- kh kh-- you're breaking- cccchhhkk--"
"What— what are you doing?! The phone lines aren't even damaged!"
"sorry what?? Can't— kkkhhhh-- hear— shhhk shhk-- you!"
"Why, you INSOLENT LITTLE—"
Meanwhile Marvel has already found and rescued the citizens held hostage with the use of his speed, while Mister Mind was just getting distracted by a childish prank, and then Marvel broke the beam thingy and flew to find Mister Mind in the center of the city and put him in a jar again, Mister Mind didn't account for the phone being taken ahold of and carried around as he was monologuing, winning Marvel time to get info and also distract him.
Also also! He could do something similar like use things that aren't typically expected of a "Demi god with ultimate magic powers who looks like he lives in a gym"—
Picture this, Dr. Sivanna in his lab and he is ambushed by The Captain and uses every single thing at his disposal, grabbing ahold of a prototype acid or something he invented and holding the vial and then Marvel grabs it too and now they're wrestling each other but it's so stupid because Marvel literally is powerful enough to rip it out of his hands but instead he does the petty "Gimme! No! Mine! No, Mine!" Thing and then when Sivanna is distracted enough with this pettiness Marvel let's go and Sivanna is defeated by sheer gravity alone because he fell over and spilled the stuff on himself, thus ending up defeated by such silly trickery!
Imagine Marvel doing stuff like this around the League while they're fighting a super race invasion of aliens or something like that and Marvel just outdoes everyone by screaming "PILLOW FIGHT!" and whipping out a pillow out of nowhere and hitting the aliens and they're surprised and are all like "Oh it's nothing lol it's just a soft pillow, how could that harm m—" and it turns out there's magic rocks in the pillow and marvel is just socking it in their faces and laughing like it's a fun sleepover and the other aliens don't understand what the fuck is happening because That's A Pillow, but then they get absolutely destroyed and it's so funny, because Batman is minding his business taking out enemies and then he looks over and his teammate The Captain is piling bodies like a mountain with the use of one pillow and nothing else and there's feathers everywhere and his laughter is just ringing in everyone's ears and the aliens are running screaming stuff like "BROTHERS, RUUUUNNN" and then Marvel just bashes in their heads and he's covered in a little bit of blood and he's laughing and his smile is genuinely cheerful because he never had a sleepover and this is him taking a chance, but to the outside world it looks like he's experiencing bloodlust, but he never killed anyone of them, Batman just stares because the aliens are all running away and he's just so so tired and confused, while Marvel is covered in feathers and his unconscious enemies blood—
Anyway I just think it would be really, REALLY funny to see him do stuff like this
Shazam should be so much more popular and it’s a crime he isn’t the most beloved character ever. I need a constant stream of Billy Batson content or my brain will actually implode. everyone in the world should make content of him just for me I think. Dying rn.
Anyway new chapter of my fic is almost finished and should hopefully come out tomorrow and I’m halfway through writing a new one shot, it’s keeping me alive but just barely. To anyone who still makes Shazam content or even just enjoys him, you are the best and thank you for seeing how excellent he is.
Billy batson is very much a scrapper, yes? And on the streets - and as a kid - you tend to use every dirty trick you can, right?
And as captain marvel he can't catch anything, and solomon is there to make sure he doesn't hinder his own fighting capability with silly things like 'peer pressure' and 'dignity', and he heals injuries after every encounter.
Conclusion: captain marvel bites.
Marvel's looks
So you know how it is at least an older canon established that Billy as Marvel looks like his dad or at least what he remembers his dad to look like? I personally lean into a second option of how he remembers his dad because it makes it more interesting plus it helps with the whole awkwardness of him looking like a semi-random or completely random (depends what canon you're going for) dead dude.
So here's the differences I see Billy as Captain having compared to his dad or things that come from his dad's little quirks!
Height: Billy remembers his dad as being massive because he himself was a tiny baby boy. So yeah. Marvel isn't a walking 6'4" feet tall dude because that's his "peak" or whatever but that's how tall comparatively Billy's dad looked like to him at when he was like 4 vs 8 years old.
Build: CC was the strongest man Billy has ever known. He could lift all of them: his mom, his sister and him; proudly proclaiming he is holding his entire universe in his arms. So naturally he was super strong which called for super muscles! So that's why Marvel is build like a tank while CC most likely had a healthy amount muscles from excavating and such but nowhere as much as Marvel and unlike Marvel would've also had a solid amount of extra squish too (we stand dad bods, lmao).
Cleanliness: You know how a decent amount of people have Marvel have a neat self-cleaning option that just comes with the magic form? I personally like the perpetually perfect hairstyle from one of the fanfics I read that joked about it. Even if this might not be something I'll always use to it's maximum extend. Either way. I like to think that the cleanliness of Captain Marvel comes from the fact that CC liked to be overall clean and put together when seeing people or generally outside around the public and generally portray himself as professional: as in wearing full business in casual business because he likes the feeling wearing a suit gives him (Yeah, I see CC to be a weirdo actually enjoying suits and his wife finds it to be an extremely adorable quirk she loves because they both get to be the dressed to the nines couple!)
Face: OK so this one is going to have a bit of sub bits here because I gave CC glasses. I know when he is shown he usually doesn't have them but I have a reason for it and I'll get to it:
4.1. Nose: The shape is different from CC's simply because glasses hide a decent portion of the nose bridge depending on what sort of glasses you get. But generally the bridge would be a bit larger for Marvel.
4.2. Eyes: So you know how in older depictions of Marvel he always squints? You know when people also squint? When they're trying to see better! So yeah for me Marvel has a perpetual squint because he doesn't wear glasses unlike his dad. Who, whenever he took them off, also squinted to see (sometimes exaggerating it to make his kids laugh). So Marvel's form subconsciously squints since there's no glasses on his nose. lol.
4.3. Also eyes: Additionally since CC wears glasses and squints when he takes them off, his vision has to be decently bad. You know what happens when you wear strong glasses? They warp your face. So additionally Marvel has smaller eyes then CC would've had. :P
So yeah that's all I have for now but might edit it if I ever come up with more things like that. If you like the concept feel free to either use it or add to it. This is all a complete fanon. It's for complete funnsies. But I would still like to hear what you think about it!
One thing I’d love to touch on one day, probably in a “Batman adopts Captain Marvel” fic, is how Billy went through what would’ve happened if Bruce wasn’t taken care of
Specifically, where Billy had wealthy parents, pillars and stewards of their community, who died tragically when he was young and left him in the care of someone who he was supposed to trust, so did Bruce. But their situations went differently
Bruce was left in Alfred’s care and was taken care of, Billy was left in his uncle Ebenezer’s care and neglected and then thrown out with his inheritance taken away from him. Both at roughly the same age and both having enjoyed a fairly idyllic childhood that’s suddenly torn away from them, with Billy it’s either his parents murder at the hands of Theo Adam or a sudden lightning strike that causes them to crash their car and die.
Bruce lost and reacted with righteous fury and anger at the world, resolving to do good and make sure what happened to him doesn’t happen to other people ever again while fixing the issues that helped cause his tragedy. Billy lost and reacted by staying the same and by showing all the kindness the world failed to show him, never stooping to the level his villains go to because he has to be better or he’s just being another bully. The grand difference being that Bruce still had someone holding him up and giving him a shoulder to cry on with a room to isolate in, Billy had none of that and had to work to keep himself safe and fed.
Idk, just with all the focus on putting these two characters together makes the angst brain go full throttle
Shazam identity reveal AU where the league knew Captain Marvel was a child named Billy since day one but he stubbornly refuses to transform or tell his full name for the whole 4 years he’s been on the team and everyone’s so confused because they know like. 95% of his identity already why is he hiding this specific part?
They start thinking he’s some kind of criminal or had a dark past he’s hiding from them. They know so much about him, though. They know he’s homeless, they know he’s had bad foster homes, they know his parents died tragically and his uncle stole his inheritance. he shares everything. Everything except the one thing that would show he truly trusts them. Why? What have they done to convince him they weren’t trustworthy?
Then. He accidentally transforms back during a battle. Batman instantly scans his face with the facial scanner that’s built into his mask because he’s paranoid as hell of course he has one of those. And he sees exactly why he hid it for so long.
The tension in the air is so palpable that the entire league feels it and they look back and forth between them waiting for the bomb to drop.
Cyborg is the one who blurts it out (he IS a facial scanner)
“Your last name is BAT SON??”
Billy groans into his hands in defeat and Batman sighs, finally understanding why the secret was kept so desperately.
From then on the league refuses to call Billy anything other than Big Red Robin or just Big Robin. Robin but big. they call Batman Captain Dad at every possible opportunity. Whenever Billy does something wrong someone threatens to tell his dad on him then call Batman. The robins last names may as well not exist because from then on they are only ever called Damian Bat-son or Red Hood Bat-son or Stephanie Bat-daughter, except for Red Robin who’s called Little Red Robin or, if they’re feeling brave, the Little Red Cheese. The bat children and Billy’s nicknames become so confusing and meshed together that conversations get very confusing and the names just become interchangeable. The press is convinced that Captain Marvel is Batman’s secret love child within a week.
It gets so chaotic so fast, no one knows how this happened but names mean nothing anymore and Batman is getting a DNA test. So much opportunity for chaos!
