y’all ever look at a character as the series goes on and think “yeah i know this character better than the author does”
ofc they’re the authors character, but sometimes i feel like authors change characters so much as if they aren’t supposed to be “humans with their own mind”
i kinda love when authors let the plot mold around the characters instead of making the characters mold into the plot they want to happen.
I got some new books yay! I got “Better Than the Movies” because I heard Jack Champion might be playing the love interest in the movie adaptation 💗💗. Crossing my fingers.🫶

The only reason better than the movies couldn't be made into a movie, is because a movie can't reason away Liz her obliviousness. The premise would be her asking her next door nieghbour enemy to help get the guy she likes, but every scene you would just see Liz swooning over Wes, completely obliterating the romantic build up in the books. (And in my opinion in the book she immediatly started falling for wes in the beginning too, so even in the book its sort of a problem)
I'm not saying it is impossible, and I would love for it to happen, but would have to be done very well to be as good as the book.
i’ve been reading fantasy books since last year and i always feel something ... empty or kind of missing within me. as i read Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter,
i just knew it.
i knew why i was feeling weird whenever i read non-romantic (or fantasy w/ romance but it isn’t a major part) books. it’s because i long to feel the happy and cute-ish and fluttery smtg when i read romance.

just— look at that. back then, i used to read books like this. with banging, hot guys and too-good, innocent, cute girls. and tropey romances with the typical grumpy x sunshine, girl-hates-boy-but-boy-is-secretly-in-love-with-girl, childhood enemies, etc. AAAAAAA
