âAnd we shall never see their like again.â
This is so sweet. Precisely.
Jon went out to the Castle Black courtyard after having submitted that heâd (illegally) garrison the men of the Nightâs Watch to rescue (f)Arya (Jeyne Poole) from Ramsayâs filthy hands. So awesome. Jon is so temperamental. And when his back is against the wall his rules change. I canât wait to see his warging episode and how he changes after receiving the fire resurrection.
Who wrote the Pink Letter, anyway? People are still trying to figure it out. Itâs been over 10 years.
Hard to care about that anymore. LOL
George R. R. Martin on how much and despises characters coming back from the dead and how he makes sure there are severe consequences for the character when he brings any back.
My characters who come back from death are the worst for wear. In some ways theyâre not even the same characters anymore. The body may be moving, but some aspect of the spirit is changed or transformed and theyâve lost something. One of the characters who has come back repeatedly from death is a minor character named Beric Dondarrion, the Lightning Lord. Each time heâs revived, he loses a little more of himself. He was sent on a mission before his first death. He was sent on a mission to do something and thatâs what heâs clinging to. Heâs forgetting other things. Heâs forgetting who he is or where he lived. Heâs forgotten the woman that he was once supposed to marry. Bits of his humanity are lost every time he comes back from death, but he remembers that mission. Itâs like his flesh is falling away from him, but this one thing, this purpose that he had is part of whatâs animating him and bringing him back from death. I think you see echoes of that with some of the other characters who have come back from death. â GRRM
George repeats this sentiment a lot, but whatâs interesting about this particular instance is the detail about the characterâs purpose/mission being part of what resurrects them. For Beric, the mission to bring Gregor Clegane to justice is part of what brings him back to life, yet he was willing to give that purpose up to bring back Catelyn. I have always found it strange that he was able to simply pass on his life force to her even though he wasnât a red priest, but if it was about her purpose, that gives more context to the rules of fire resurrection.Â
Since Jon may also be getting a red priestess resurrection in the next book, probably after living a second life in ghost for a while, this basically confirms that not only did Jon die for Arya, his love for her will also be what brings him back to life. But heâll still be screwed because this is George lol
I feel like the saying âboys will be boysâ applies to both the Bastardâs Boys and The Brotherhood but in completely different ways
I gave him the good god's own kiss to send him on his way.
But never before had I felt a dead man shudder as the fire filled him, nor seen his eyes come open.
gay people will literally recreate snow white before admitting their feelings
