warnings: toji fushiguro x reader, fluff, pregnant reader, reader is tad a bit dramatic but its the hormones i promise, soft domestic toji is everything, toji is a loverboy at heart, married au!
author’s note: caught a bad case of tojitis and the doc said this is the only way i can get rid of it 🙁
“‘m sorry princess.” toji said as he wiped the fat tears that rolled down your cheeks.
he couldn’t blame you for being upset—you were carrying his child for gods sake which meant that your hormones were all out of shape from trying to make sure this child wasn’t as fucked up as he was. he rubbed your back soothingly trying to get you to calm down as your shoulders bobbed up and down, clearly still upset. toji had researched pregnancy symptoms soon after he found out you were expecting but he didn’t expect them to be this…severe.
“I’ll buy you another one princess, i promise.” he squeezed your hand gently as an act of reassurance. “let’s just get out of the way we’re causing a scene.” he motioned to the crowd that gathered around you both, clearly interested in the drama between a man and his pregnant wife. one quick glare from toji was all it took for the bystanders to begin minding their own business again.
“it’s not gonna be the same.” you hiccuped, wiping the tears and snot away with a tissue as toji led you away to a quiet area. just thinking about the ice cream almost made you emotional again. “why did your fat hands have to knock my ice cream onto the ground!” you balled up his shirt in your fists before you started crying again. “it’s a hot summer day and im sweating buckets—that was the only thing i was looking forward to!” you cried out. “what did my ice cream do to you!”
“nothin’ mama i’ll go buy you a new one right now.”that seemed to calm you down for a brief minute. you looked up at him with starry eyes and toji couldn’t get over how beautiful you looked at this moment. “you will? do you remember what ice cream truck it was from?” toji stilled for a brief second before giving you a soft smile. “of course i do baby.”
toji definitely didn’t remember where the ice cream was and he definitely wasn’t gonna try and play with your tastebuds by buying ice cream from a similar ice cream stand. he knew how refined your palate had become since becoming pregnant which made it crucial that he’d find the right spot. after running around the busy streets like a headless chicken he found the ice cream truck and despite not being religious, he thanked whoever was above before quickly fishing out some money to pay for the ice cream.
he walked back to you with two ice creams, handing you the less melted one. you thanked him and ate your ice creams in silence watching the world go on around you. “thank you.” you said as you rested your head on his shoulder, cradling your bump. “i may have exaggerated a teensy bit about the ice cream.” you replied coyly moving from your position to face him.
“you don’t say.” he replied sarcastically, leaning in for a kiss but he stopped right before your lips met. “you’re unbelievable.” he whispered softly against your lips before he kissed you, the coldness of the ice cream still present on his lips making you shudder. you pulled away with a soft grin, “i know, that’s why you married me in the first place.” you held up your hand, showing the beautiful yet blinding ring he got for you.
“well, i hope our baby doesn’t get your dramatic tendencies.” he grumbled, as he took your hand in his once again rubbing soft circles on your palm. “yeah? and i hope that our baby doesn’t get your grumpiness.” you retort back sticking your tongue out at him.
“oh so this is how we’re gonna play this baby?” he smirked at you before resting his hand on your growing bump. “well i hope our baby comes out happy, healthy and knows that they have two loving parents that would die for them.” he replied back kissing your bump. your heart bloomed at his confession and you could feel the waterworks coming in but you managed to blink them away.
“it seems like marriage has made you soft old man.” you teased him running your fingers up and down his arm. “shut up.” he said softly before placing a light kiss on your temple.
I know Principle “no child is beyond redemption” Bump and Hunter had a ~conversation~ after all that was over
