Ive been researching the avian flu recently since my local rescue aviary (raistede my beloved) has had to close to the public a lot recently to protect their birds.Turns out some gannets with a mutation for black irises are less susceptible to the avian flu! If only other birds could adapt that way D:

Hey. I'm hearing some pretty fucking scary reports on bird flu, and the fact that it's very likely to spread to humans within the next year or two.

It has a 20-25% death rate among humans.

Please, please PLEASE keep yourself protected if we start hearing more reports. Mask, use hand sanitizer, social distance. I don't fucking care if 'It's not where I live yet'. Did you learn nothing from Covid? IT. WILL. BE. EVERYWHERE.

Covid has a 0.6% mortality rate, compared with the current one for Avian Flu. That means that in a family with three kids, one person will die and two will be hospitalised, and that's if death rates don't skyrocket the sam way they did when hospitals were overwhelmed with covid.

Please, for fuck's sake keep yourself safe.
