"You know, when you said camping, I thought you meant one of those cute little camper vans or something, not sleeping bags on the freezing ground" You said, panting as you and Jin made your way up the winding trail, finally reaching the campsite.
"Sweetheart, proper camping, in my mind, means a tent." He said, as you set down your supplies, giving you a kiss on the cheek. "And we won't be on the ground," he dug around in one of your packs before announcing, "I brought an air mattress!" He held it up, smiling proudly. He looked so cute, you caved immediately.
"Fine, let's just everything set up before we get eaten by some bears." You teased.
It started as the two of you were setting up the tent. You were struggling with one of the tent poles when you began to feel as if you were being watched. It was then that you noticed a strange, low pitched noise coming from the woods.
"Did you hear that?" You asked.
Jin paused for a moment, listening. "What?"
"I don't know, it was kinda like humming?" You listened again but you couldn't hear it anymore. "Nevermind, I must've just misheard something." you said, still feeling slightly uneasy, but you tried to brush it off as being paranoid, returning your attention to the tent.
The rest the afternoon was a pleasant blur after you finished setting up camp. Jin tried to teached you how to fish, but if it had been up to you to catch dinner, you would've gone hungry. Luckily, Jin had much better success. You had to admit though, against your initial reservations, you were having a really good time, especially seeing how happy it made him to share his one of his hobbies with you.
As you sat together by the fire that evening, he poked you in the ribs playfully to get your attention. "Hey."
"Hey." You chuckled.
"I got you something." He pulled out a small box and offered it to you.
"What's the occasion?" You asked in surprise.
"There isn't one, I just saw it and thought you should have it." He said, opening it for you to reveal a simple silver ring, a tiny moon artfully etched into it's surface.
"It's beautiful." You breathed as he took it out and slipped it on you finger, pressing a kiss to the back of your hand afterwards.
"You like it?"
"I love it." You said, kissing him tenderly, "And I love you." When you parted, you could see the slight flush in his cheeks as he looked at you with small grin.
"You know, If you're still worried about freezing, I'm sure I can think of a way to keep you warm." He said resting a hand on your thigh teasingly.
"Don't even try it, you'll pop the mattress!" You smacked his hand away, making him laugh.
"Ah! Alright, let's just sleep then."
That was easier said than done apparently. You tried to sleep, but everytime you started to doze off, you'd hear something moving about outside in the underbrush. At one point you thought you could hear something circling the tent and woke Jin, but when he checked, there was nothing there. As you both fell back to sleep, you swore you could hear the humming again, closer.
When you woke again, it was completely quiet, finally. You gave relieved sigh, but when you rolled over, Jin's side of the bed was empty. You tried to keep your mind in check, knowing that he'd probably just gone to relieve himself, but the unsettling feeling from earlier had returned, and you couldn't take just sitting there by yourself anymore.
On slightly shaky legs, you climbed out of the tent, taking a few deep breaths as you surveyed your surroundings. The moon hung low in the sky just over the trees; it must've been nearing dawn, but the darkness was still terribly heavy around you.
"Jin?" You called out, but there was no reply. The longer you listened, the more uneasy you felt. The air was so still, no wind, no crickets, it was almost suffocating.
Then you heard it again, the same low, rumbling hum. For a few moments you stood listening, but then you began to recognize the sound of your boyfriend's voice.
"Jin?" Taking a flash light, you made your way a short distance down the trail towards the sound, but as you neared, it stopped abruptly. Everything went silent again.
Suddenly, a sharp, shrill noise cut through the air; some sort of animal cry that sounded an awful lot like a human scream.
"Jin?" You called again louder, properly afraid now. This was a mistake, you cursed yourself, you should've just waited by the tent. You wanted to go back, but the sound had come from between you and campsite. You thought about trying to take a different route back, but in the dark all the trees looked the same and you were certain to get lost.
You started back down the trail cautiously. Not far down the path, you came across what you assumed had made the screaming sounds.
It looked like a fox, or at least, what was left of a fox. It was no wonder why it had made the sounds you'd heard. Whatever had caught it had more than just killed it, they'd absolutely shredded it to pieces.
Trying to stifle the wave of nausea that rolled through you at the sight, you backed away till your back hit a tree. If that's what you'd heard, then whatever had killed the poor thing was likely still nearby. Something with some vicious teeth or claws.
You glanced around nervously, letting out a loud gasp when you spotted a set of dark eyes watching you.
"Jin?"
He stepped out of the shadow of the trees slowly, his expression unreadable, eyes never leaving you. "Hello, y/n."
"You scared the shit out of me!" You said shakily, your heart racing.
"I'm sorry." He said, though he didn't sound like it. If anything, he sounded slightly amused.
"What are you doing out here?"
"I couldn't sleep." He said dismissively. "I found this cool area down by the water, come see." He gestured over his shoulder.
"N-no, I think we should go back to camp, it's not safe out here." You said pointing out the fox, but he seemed remarkably unbothered.
"We don't have to worry about that, it won't bother us." The moonlight seem to cast slanted shadows over his face, making it look too sharp, too angular. "Come on, I wanna show you this."
"I don't want to, can't we just wait till morning?" You asked. Couldn't he see how upset you were?
"I really think you ought to see it now." He insisted, trying to take your hand, but you pulled away. Why was he acting like this? Something was very wrong.
"Jin, please, what is-"
"Will you just come on!" He snapped harshly, grabbing your hand, only to immediately jerk away, hissing in pain.
"Fuck! Why are you wearing silver?!"
"What are you talking abou-" You were still wearing the silver moon ring he'd given you earlier. But before you could finish your question, another voice rang out faintly from the forest behind you.
"Y/n? Y/n!" You heard Jins strained voice calling out. But that couldn't be right, if he was out there, who, what was standing in front of you?
"Ah, what a shame," he said almost to himself, looking up slowly, "we were going to have so much fun." He smiled darkly at you, needle-like fangs now on full display. Your blood ran cold.
He lunged for you, managing to grab your arm again, but you slapped him with your ring hand, causing him to let go instantly, clutching at his face as you bolted away. Having dropped your light during the scuffle, you ran through the woods blindly, adrenaline pushing your legs as hard as they could go, branches and briars catching on your clothes as you scrambled through the underbrush.
As you looked back to see if he was following you, you ran full-force into Jin.
"Y/n!" He said in relief reaching to steady you, but you jerked back, fighting to get away.
"No, let me go!" You cried.
"Y/n! It's just me!" He said, holding onto you tightly. After a moment of struggle, you finally looked up at him long enough to notice the differences in his face. There was no darkness in his eyes, no shadows, only concern for you.
"Jin?" Not fully trusting your eyes, you raised a shaky hand and pressed it to his cheek, making sure your ring made contact with his skin. Nothing.
"It's okay, it's me." He assured you, placing a hand in top of yours tenderly. Your eyes blurred with tears as you broke down, clinging to him for dear life.
It took several minutes for you to calm down enough to answer his questions. No, you weren't hurt. You said that you'd just gotten lost. You didn't tell him about what you'd seen, frankly you didn't really know what it was you'd seen, let alone how to explain it to him. All you knew is you wanted to get as far away from there as possible.
"Can we go home, please?" You shook in his arms.
"Of course we can, sweetheart," he said gently, "anything you want."
By now, the sun had begun to rise as the two of you quickly packed everything up, you making sure that Jin never left your sight. As you were leaving, you could hear the humming again. You held on to Jin's hand tightly the whole way back to the car.
You didn't really talk about it again. For several months afterwards, on nights when you struggled to sleep, you would press your ring to his skin just to be sure he was real, that he was your Jin.
Jin said that next time you went camping, he would get a camper van like you'd wanted, but you didn't know if you would ever go out there again. Not knowing now what might be hiding out there in the woods.
Furby Friend
A couple weeks ago, I bought my first Furby! Tbh I've always wanted one, especially when the Furby Booms came out in 2012, but I never got my hands on a Furby until now.
My Furby interest sparked once more when I recently discovered the Furby online community. Customizations to Furbies seemed really fun, so I headed over to ebay to find a furball.
Since Autumn/Halloween is my favorite time of year, I of course bought the Autumn Witch Furby from 1999. I was lucky enough to find him new in the box (never opened or tested) so it felt extra special when he arrived.
This is the boi
He works too :D

As of right now, I am (mostly) finished with the customizations, I've just been really lazy about posting. But more post will be coming.
Anyway, his name is Harvest or Harvey for short!
Welcome to the world Harvest!
I purchased a Furby Carrier from Etsy! I wanted it in Non-binary colors, and it's perfect! The seller is littlebits101.

Harvest loves it, and it keeps him warm!
I also ordered another one from someone else lol. It will arrive soon.
