As you can see, it’s all pretty consistent. I really see her as having dark tan skin, blue eyes, but I would say more dark blue eyes (even tho on the picrews, they are light), and having long pink hair. I would say to like her middle back.

How I see my deities, part 2 Ig

Again, pretty consistent. Though in my mind eye, I really do see him as more like the hades version. Also m’lady has been featured here too! I see him as having short, black hair, having dark eyes (more black like mine) and having light tan skin. I also see him as having scars on his face !

Hey how’s everyone doing? Im doing…ok,,, but I wanted to talk about something cool that happens (happened) with my deities and guides. Ok so I’m kinda loved and affection starved because while my family does show love, it often doesnt feel real or it followed up as something hurtful or love and affection is kinda used as a prize.. what I’m trying to say it isn’t really used freely and correctly. So recently (they know it’s been always, but recently it’s been noticeable ig) my I’ve noticed that my deities and spiritual guides have been really nice and loving. And it’s not like I expected then to be rude or hateful to me (obv 😳) but it’s that I’m not used to it haha

Some examples would be like I’m been trying to know my guides better, so when I asked how they felt about me, the song they used (I used sufflemancy) is serendipity by BTS 😭 ngl it made me tear up a lot 😭 Another example is something that is really personal to me. I notice that I shiver a lot when talking to my deities and I’ve known that’s how they show me that they’re listening, but I’ve just recently figured out that they do that because I have hard time with not knowing if ppl are listening,, like when I’m talking to someone, I need them to respond so that I know they are listening, if they don’t, I don’t think they are listening. So what I’m saying is that me shivering when I talk to my deities is their way of showing me that they are listening (think of it like when ppl say hmm or nod when listening). Again when I realized that, I was tearing up 😭 ofc there’s other moments like that but I’m talking about MOST recently. So lately, I’ve been asking my spiritual guides and deities how they are via Pinterest 😭 and my spirit guides have been giving normal answers but the main focus is actually my deities. 90% of when I ask them, the answers I get are so 😭🥺 instead of like answering like this (how they have in the past (this was lady Aphrodite)

So yeah 😭 when it first happened I was so confused and I Lowkey thought that maybe it was a mistake but I knew it wouldn’t be there if it was a mistake 😭 plus I’m following my intuition more,,, but yeah they have been reminding me more and more about how they love me 😭 which is 😭 like when the message with lady Aphrodite popped up (the red image with black words on it) I (again) started tearing up when I fully read it,,, especially with how relevant it was. Like I often worry (? Think) about how my deites would leave me some day, so when it really hit when one part of the message said “I fully intend on staying in your life for quite some time.” Also they “I love you without limits” thing. I shouldn’t be surprised but lady Aphrodite is the more affectionate (ig) like a long while ago she gave me a message like this

Which also made really emotional because I had (and still have) a hard time talking to my guides and deities about stuff that’s going on with me, even though they encourage me too. And I always remember this one post I saw along time ago that was talking about how “talk to your deites about your problems and stuff” 😭 so yknow this made me really emotional. Also M’lady is always reaching out at random times telling me that she’s here. It’s really great overall. Oh and recently I made a joke about my deites not wanting to talk to me and then I said “I’m joking don’t fight me” and right after I said that, I heard “fight right now” 😭 so yeah that’s hilarious and sweet.

Onto my guides,, Ig they are more toned down about it ?? Not really tho,, oh like one time, I asked them if they thought I was cute as a joke and I didn’t really expect them to respond, but they responded with “so cute” which was very nice 😭 Though I’m a pretty weird person and my guides are low key weird too 😭 like I’m not even gonna lie, they have a weird obession with Hyunjin from SKZ 😭 like they even said that it was a one sided love aka they love him but he doesn’t love them back 😭 back on the cute note, one time they sent me this

To translate it means “me when I look at your beautiful face” 😭 which literally came out of nowhere. Also they send me a lot of cats with hearts on them (a lot of guides are cats 😭) so yeah. (Also I should mention that Aphrodite and Dionysus are also apart of my guides)

So I guess this post was just to say that your guides and deities really do love you unconditionally (if you had a hard time believing it). While I knew that they loved me because of how I grew up, I had a hard time truly believing it 😭 So seeing all this just really cements this, especially since I don’t ask things “like how they feel about me” and they just pop up random. Hello ! Todays post is on how my deities show love to me! (I guess that’s the best title for this) So I guess this an follow up to my last post I did post I did on this certain topic (link if you wanna see it) because I want to show different ways it might happen! Despite not being human, I swear our deities actually do love us (also spirit guides since Dio is one of my guides and they also often do stuff like this haha)

To get on perspective on my relationships with my deities, I have been worshiping Lord Dionysus (who’s actually gonna kinda be the main focus 😳) for over a year now. And lord ares and lady Aphrodite for 11 months (a year in October for both) so I would say that were pretty close,, I’m particularly close with Lady Aphrodite as (somewhat) unsurprisingly, she is the most affectionate and loving towards to me. She often reminds me that she’s here for me and that she loves me and all,,, which is very nice 😭

What really sparked this post was something that happened a couple days ago. So yknow I’m trying to get better at taking care of myself and doing things for my higher good (as we all should be doing) and I’m currently sick and I have been for the past few days. I also just got back from a trip and I had school work to do but while I was going it I decided stop because A. It was getting late, B. like I said, I just got back from a trip and I was tired, and C. I’m sick and it’s not good to work when you’re sick anyways 😭 When I closed my computer to go lay down and rest, I also said “Ideserve to rest” (i just talk out loud a lot when I’m by myself lol) and immediately got (the best way to describe it) a thumbs up (basically) from Lord Dionysus ! It made me feel very good about myself! Though I don’t need my deities, guides, or anyone really to back up my decisions for me to do them, it still feels very nice,,, plus it helps me know that I’m going in the right direction !

Hi! I’m Raven (or Ray), and I’ve been an Ares devotee for almost five years now. You want to start worshiping him? Great! Despite what today’s media makes of him - which I will talk about a lot in this post - , he’s actually a very caring, gentle and (dare I say) beginner-friendly deity! In general, a great choice! (Also, this is inspired by another post I saw but forgot to save - so, credits for the idea goes to that person) So, let's get started.

WHO IS ARES? - MODERN MISCONCEPTIONS

Since I’m assuming you already know the broad strokes of who he is (Greek god of war, bloodshed, violent and so forth), this section will be about some of the misconceptions most people have of Him. If you’ve ever consumed any Greek mythology-related media, I’m sure you’ve seen the following caricature: beefy, misogynistic, violent, stupid jerk, rude and always looking for a fight. While, yes, He IS violent (He's the god of war, afterall), that's far from all He has to offer.

Did you know Ares is actually historically a major feminist? That’s probably the first thing to get demystified about Him when you talk to an Ares devotee or worshiper, so I’m not really saying ground-breaking news here, but since a fair amount of people don’t know about it, I thought it was a fair mention. So, let’s get into the actual myths and proofs for this claim:

Ares was the father of and supported the Amazons in battle, a group of female-only warriors and hunters.

He’s one of the only male deities in Greek mythology to not have sexually harassed or raped someone. Yes, even other deities viewed as “nice” such as Apollo and Hermes have done so (I don’t mean any disrespect for those deities here - I’m also an Apollo devotee).

Ares was held in trial for the murder of Halirrhotius, a son of Poseidon, after he raped one of Ares’ daughters, Alkippe. He was acquited of murder by the gods. Remember, back in ancient Greece, women didn’t have ANY rights - raping one was not considered a crime or even frowned upon as far as I'm aware.

One of His epithets is “Ares Gynaikothoina", which means "feasted by women". During a war between the Tegeans and the Spartans, the women of Tegea defended the city from a invasion led by the Spartan king Charilaus. After arming themselves, they defeated the Spartans following an ambush. Among the prisoners was the Spartan king himself. In commemoration, they would hold a feast in honor of Ares, to which only women were invited.

All in all, Ares is protective, just, and encouraging of His children as well as worshipers and devotees. He’s not the piece of shit jock most people think of when you mention His name. Please stop doing my man this dishonor, He deserves so much better.

BASIC INFO

His Roman counterpart is Mars. He’s the son of Zeus and Hera, and his consourt is Aphrodite (even though they’re not officially married). His divine children are Phobos and Deimos (twin daimones/personified spirits of panic and terror, respectively), Harmonia (goddess of harmony and concord), Antero (erote/god of requited love) and Eros (erote/god of carnal love), all which he had with Aphrodite, as well as Drakon of Thebes (a giant serpent), which he apparently had by himself.

As for hero children; Cycnus (a bloody-thirsty men who was murdered by Herakles), Diomedes of Thrace (who had man-eating horses for some reason), Thrax (who founded Thrace), Oenomaus (Greek king of Pisa), and the Amazons (female warriors and hunters as mentioned above).

His symbols and associations are: spears, swords, helmets, armour, dogs, chariots, shields, The Chariot & The Emperor tarot cards, etc.

FESTIVALS AND DAYS

Tuesdays are holy to Ares and are ruled by the planet Mars (again, his Roman counterpart), which means they’re associated with action, energy, strength, and courage, as well as the color red.

As for festivals, He was typically honored with special rites in times of war or just before battles. There were also two annual festivals: one in the town of Geronthrae in ancient Laconia, celebrated only by men, and one in Tagea in Arcadia, celebrated only by women, where His "feasted by women" epithet came from. There's hardly any info on exact dates (from the Attic calendar or not) or info about any other festivals.

There’s no plant, flower or tree traditionally associated with Ares, unfortunately, so I’m gonna give a list of my UPG’s. Now, I’m not a witch, so I don’t know about the magical properties of the plants I’m about to list (if you’re a witch and were looking for something like that, my bad). However, I am a florist and have a special interest in floriography, so I assign them to Him based on vibe, meaning, etc.

Snapdragon (Means “Presumption”, but I think he just likes the way it looks)

Poppy (Means “Eternal sleep”, but has a long history with wars, being the first kind of flora to start growing in abandoned battlefields that were previously considered infertile)

Yarrow (Means “Cure for a broken heart”, and is said to have been used by Achilles to heal his men on the battlefield, which is why the scientific name is “Achillea”)

OFFERINGS & DEVOTIONAL ACTS

Honestly, the only slander Ares should be getting is that He likes edgy teenage boy things. That being said, here's some ideas/suggestions, first for devotional acts and then offerings:

Workout or do any kind of physical activity

Take care of your mental and physical health

Stand up for yourseld and what you believe in

Learn about past wars, battles, and riots

Do things that make you feel badass/brave/empowered

Go to a protest

Work on managing your anger (especially for my fellow BPD havers)

Pet a dog

Honor His children and Aphrodite

For offerings; any kind of meat, especially red

Anything sharp (cool knives or daggers, broken glass, etc)

Bones!!

Halloween decor (I personally have those fake plastic snakes, spiders, and a skull on His altar)

Black coffee, the stronger the better

Any alcohol, but especially whiskey

Anything spicy

WHY WORSHIP ARES? - A PERSONAL RANT

Living in an extremely physically abusive household, I had to know and be acostumed to violence from a very young age. That violence left with many things - BPD and C-PTSD, to name a few - but mostly importantly, it left me only being able to feel one thing: anger.

I was angry at everything. Angry at the world for allowing me to have to live through such a horrible situation, angry at my mom for not standing up for me, angry at my abuser, even angry at myself for not ever trying to fight back or protect myself (though now I realize that was completely out of the question. I was only 8, what could I have done against a man in his 30's that was three times my size?).

That anger didn't go away after I got away from my abuser. If anything, it grew worse. I'd yell, break everything around me, say horrible things to the people I loved - I was a totally different person. I could barely recognize myself. I was an empty shell, filled with absolutely nothing else than the purest form of resentment and wrath, things that had been brewing inside of me since I was a child. I never had the choice to become anything else.

Ares understands violence. He's the god of it. He knows when it's justifiable and when it's not, when it serves a purpose and when it's out of pure malice. He helped me realize that instead of trying to fight against my anger out of the shame it made me feel, I had to embrace it - become one with it. It's a part of me, at the end of the day. I just had to figure out how to control it instead of letting it control me.

He embraced me when I was too disgusted with this ugly side of me to even look in a mirror. I was scared of myself - he wasn't. He's seen worse. I never had someone accept me and all my flaws before, god or otherwise.

That's why it's so upsetting to see the modern depictions so many people have of him. Someone so understanding and loving being defined by the worst parts of Himself, just like I used to do with myself in the past.

Ares is the god of war, war is not the god of Ares.

Thinking about the crossover between Ares in myth and love 🥺. Thinking about how (most of) the times he has enacted wrath, it was to avenge his family. Thinking about how the only reason he joined the Trojan war was out of love for his mother and they only reason he betrayed her (by switching to the side of the Trojans) was for love of Aphrodite. Thinking about how the only times Ares acts recklessly and almost incured the wrath of Zeus was to avenge his slain children. Thinking about the symbolism of Aphrodite being Ares main consort.

Thinking about how mythically, Ares might be considered the most loving God (on my Olympus at least). He is the God of manliness (that’s actually one of his domains 😭) and so it makes sense for him to be a near perfect father, husband (partner), son, and overall supporting figure

Ofc I’m a very big fan of the actual Ares (Ares devotee 🙋), but I love reading his myths just because of much nuance there is. I know this weird to say, but his character (😭) is very well written overall in myth. I’ll say the Ancient Greek poets cooked with most ares myths. I’m very Ares brained, so I actually made a video on this, so if you’re interested in a more in depth talk of this, check it out (yes I just plugged my channel lol)! I plan on making a deity deep dive on Ares one day, but I’ve been really thinking about these parallels,,,

Hello everyone, I’m back >:)

Anyway, this is a post documenting my experiences (again). And todays is that your deities care about you a lot, and that they are there with you, even when you don’t know!

Yesterday, I was on break and I was sitting in my car, and I was really upset (ngl I have terrible coworkers lol), so I was just being sad or whatever. (And for a little context, me and my deities, we have certain signs that they will show me, and I know it’s 100% from them, and it basically just means that they are there) and in that moment, I got that sign from none other than our good Lord Ares. Ofc, I was already emotional, but that made me break down in tears (in a good way this time lol). And actually, the same thing happened that night too after I started getting upset about work again.

So this is just to show you that your deities do watch over you and care for you! I’m pretty sure they don’t watch over us 24/7, but Idk I think they get like… little alerts when something is going on 😭

Anyway, the Gods are the best :)

So I haven’t prayed in 2 days (I know 😔) and for my other deities, it’s probably easier to “not notice” that I’m gone, but for Ares, I pray to him every day so like 😭 one time, I didn’t pray to him for 3 days, and on the 3rd/4th day, I got my stuff together and then got a message from him and literally the message was telling me to start praying again and I’m not joking, telling me how LONELY he was when I was gone 💀 Deities are wild 💀 so yeah I probably have only more day probably until he calls me out

Deities never fail to surprise and amaze me

My brain has decided to be cute lately and decided that I am no longer able to function, so I was telling that to my deities (particularly Aphrodite and Ares) and I asked them to be a little more present during this time (/ showing me that they are present) and idk why, whenever I do this, I just forget 💀 so then I start seeing a bunch of signs of them and I’m like ???? And THEN I remember 😭
