Ok so I got to thinking and here's my pitch for an APD (auditory processing disorder) creature. Introducing.... the 'Huh?'

And it’s worse when you finally do process it after they start asking it again (idk if anyone else does this, but I’ll answer the question when they are in the middle of repeating it without meaning to).
I legit had a professor tell me that I was clearly lying about having APD because it took me a minute for me to process her question (and she then proceeded to confuse it with hard of hearing by saying I clearly heard her if I was able to answer (please note that this was a professor for nursing school)).
having audio processing issues is so humiliating like yeah i heard you and yeah i was actively listening but the problem is i dont know what the fuck you sayed

when you have auditory processing disorder and you’re trying to pay attention to something like a show or a book or some work and someone else enters the room and starts fussing about in the background or starts talking and you have to leave the room bc you literally have no chance of following whatever you’re doing when theyre making noise and they get mad at you cos they think YOU’RE mad at THEM but you’re not you just. want to continue doing what you’re doing
And don't forget DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) "Normal" people won't like you if your disorder and or disability doesn't have an aesthetic they can use for their savior complex or if they can't coddle you. People with these disorders especially ones who are antisocial commonly known as (sociapaths/psychopaths, a term that should be used if the individual is okay with that description of themselves) are still demonized and thought as needing "fixing". Every person deserves to be supported in a way which bests suits their situation and that shouldn't be a polarizing stance.
