one thing i find bizarre and crabby in this fandom is how quickly people come to take swipes at others for the smallest things, even such as liking different flavours of the same ship. so you get endless versions of "aegon or aemond or (insert character here) wouldn't say that, feel that, think that etc" or "their relationship to this other character would be like THIS and not like THAT haha you FOOLS".

and idk it's normal to get irritated sometimes when you see (what you perceive to be) a delulu take but at some point it just becomes gratuitous animosity, especially when the differences are so slight you need to write a wholeass essay to explain

likewise, it's not my place to tell anyone how to curate their online experience and far be it for me to impose any rules of engagement on anyone, but i do find it a little odd, this advocacy to block everyone on sight with whom you have the slightest difference in opinion. again, this is obviously coloured by my own personal bias and habits, but i can't help but feel like it's a bit much

ooohh i love this Also so true. as someone who is a chronic thinker my own interpretations of source material changes some changes are very gradual because LOL living helps put things in perspective and when youre young you sometimes miss what the author might be poking fun at or examining (since theyre often an adult with adult struggles and fears) some interpretations change daily with the like wind or how i want to 'what-if' a scenario or hypo also some interpretations in fandom are based on unexamined assumptions one person made for the purposes of their very specific fic or art and then no one stops to think that this really good art or fic or meta or joke was like constructed with a narrow purpose in mind also looking at the same piece of art thru different lenses will give you a different interpretation you can read a lot of things and come to a lot of different conclusions under say a marxist or feminist or gender queer or psychoanalysis lens and that interpretation is still fun and interesting and a great perspective to enjoy the material again!!! anyway... saying I vibe so hard with this thank you
