I like a lot of Pokémon, but Alolan Raichu is definitely one of my favorites.

To make up for my inactivity, here’s a couple of mini canvases I painted! I wanted to do all of the Alolan forms prior to the release of SuMo, but these were the only two I got around to. Exeggutor is still sitting here unfinished (taking up two separate canvases, lol).

Can I have a PokemonAU? How would the Dads react if Dadsona had a Alolan Raichu who is super shy and would behind Dadsona or Amanda while meeting the dads?

[ALRIGHT; buckle up, cause this is a long one.I was in no way responsible of this writing, all credit goes to @bonniestreetThey were the ones who offered themselves to write this, since I have no knowledge about Pokemon, while they really do.

This prompt includes headcanons for what each dad has with them.]

Raichu are normally very bold and outgoing, with their alolan variants being very bubbly and active. So you could say that the raichu was actually Alex’s Pokemon companion. You could add on that after Alex passed away the raichu became withdrawn and lonely, but eventually warmed up to dadsona and Amanda again after coming out of its shell. Dadsona could also have a normal raichu that was buddies with Alex’s alolan raichu and their raichu also helped with getting the other one to come back. However now the only people it trusts are Amanda and dadsona. When other people try to approach it it freaks out and cowers behind the two, or straight up hits the button on its Pokeball and retreats in there.

[Alternate Idea: The Raichu is a timid nature Pokemon. Timid nature Pokemon are fast and not good physical attackers. So Raichu’s first reaction to seeing people it doesn't know is to run and hide behind people it trusts. After a while it will come out of hiding and cautiously sniff the dad’s hand to check and see if they're trustworthy. Some of the dads it might fully come out of hiding for, but others it will hesitantly hide back behind the dadsona or Amanda.]

❤️Robert: Possible Pokemon for Robert’s “family” Pokemon: would either be a poochyena (Betsy) or a Bisharp (one that he sometimes just kicks back and widdles with). Robert would probably just be confused at first. One by the fact that he’s never seen an alolan variant of any Pokemon, then by the fact that he’s never seen a Pokemon so shy and timid. He would question why the Pokemon is so shy, since his Pokemon is always so active, and then would press no further when dadsona explained to him about Raichu’s situation. If second option is what you go with then the raichu might sniff his hand and then hide back behind its family, might not trust Robert of all people. Robert doesn’t mind, he might crack a joke saying like: “Heh, smart Pokemon~”

🧡Hugo: Possible Pokemon for Hugo’s “family” Pokemon: Granbull (Dutchess) or some kind of fighting type. (Hawlucha) When Hugo laid eyes on the shy little Pokemon he at first finds it cute and endearing. (if first scenario) Once he realizes the Pokemon is scared of him and doesn’t trust him. He knows better than to try and approach a pokemon that is scared, so he gives it a patient smile and asks the dadsona if the Raichu is just a shy Pokemon. Once Dadsona tells Hugo the reason behind the Pokemon’s nature, his smile fades and his heart swells for the poor Raichu. He gives it a kind smile and then gives it the space it needs. (if second scenario) He’d chuckle a little and nod, crouching down to let the Raichu sniff his hand. Raichu would give it a sniff, and though it would still be slightly hesitant, it would eventually let Hugo pat its head.

💛Joseph: Possible Pokemon for Joseph’s “family” Pokemon: Since he has a big family and two energetic twins, he’d need a Pokemon that was good with kids, and one that could come with him to church. A chansey would be a good option since they are nurturing Pokemon or an Audion. (if first scenario) He knew that Pokemon had so many different personalities and types, so he just assumed that it was either quiet natured or timid. However, once he saw it look up at him in fear or retreat into his Pokeball, he would immediately be concerned for its wellbeing. He’d never accuse dadsona of abusing the Pokemon, but he would be inclined to ask about its reaction towards other people. After dadsona explains it, Jospeh would probably either offer his condolences to the Raichu, or even go so far as to send out his own family Pokemon to try and get it to calm Raichu down and explain he was with good people. (if second option) Again, would probably assume it was of a quiet or timid nature, and once seeing that it was hesitantly peeking out from behind dadsona or Amanda he would smile and offer it a treat of some sort. A homemade poffin or pokesweet, and Raichu would dang near be in the man’s lap. Raichu can sense Joseph is a good person, and would feel no need to hide from him.

💚Brian: Possible Pokemon for Brian’s “family” Pokemon: Stoutland or Herdier. He’s a dog person all around and those two definitely scream “Brian”. (if first scenario) Brian would be so excited to see an alolan variant of a Raichu, but when it ducked away and cried out in fear once he tried to pet it, he would recoil his hand and his eyes would go wide. “Did I scare it? Did I hurt it? Do I intimidate it?” Once his questions were answered, and Raichu’s story was told, he would nod his head and leave it alone. He knew better than to try and force a timid Pokemon to trust someone it didn’t know, especially in this Pokemon’s case. (if second option) He would again go in for a head pat, but instead of Raichu screaming, it would simply duck away and hide behind dadsona or Amanda. One of the two would laugh and tell Brian not to take it personally, and so he’d chuckle and nod. He’d constantly be passing the shy Pokemon glances, and when they make eye contact he’d give it a friendly smile. This method eventually wins Raichu’s favor, and would get it to float out on its tail and stand by Amanda or dadsona’s side to “join” the conversation.

💙Craig: Possible Pokemon for Craig’s “family” Pokemon: Craig would want a Pokemon that is both active and good with kids (especially River). Buisel or Lombre are both good candidates for this position, and being water types is a bonus to help remind the kids on the baseball team to stay hydrated. (if first scenario) Craig would probably be going in for a bro hug when he would notice the shy Raichu hiding behind dadsona. He would be pretty excited to see his bro’s Pokemon until he noticed the fear and hesitation in the Pokemon’s eyes. He’d ask what was up with the little dude. One explaination later and he’d immediately offer to try and get the little guy out of his shell. (if second scenario) He’d notice the shy little Raichu and would bombard dadsona with a million questions about how he got an alolan Pokemon, and how long they’d had it.After Raichu got use to the energetic and bouncy man, it would eventually calm down and realize that its trainer was very close to this man. It wouldn’t come out of hiding, but it wouldn’t fear Craig or see him as a threat.

💜Mat: Possible Pokemon for Mat’s “family” Pokemon: Hyper Pokemon aren’t really this guys thing, so he’d be more inclined to have a more chill and laid back mon. A glameow or a meowth are more his speed. (if first scenario) Dadsona and Amanda would probably be bringing Raichu to meet Mat on purpose. Mat has a very similar look and feel to Alex, so they hope that maybe Raichu would feel comfortable with Mat. They explained to him prior to the meeting what they were planning to do and what was wrong with Raichu, so he knew not to make any sudden movement or gestures. Mat probably wouldn’t even react to Raichu at first, just letting it get comfortable with his person. After it came out of hiding he would start to gently engage with it. By the end of the meet up Raichu might even be comfortable enough to hover by his legs.  (if second scenario) Unlike all the other dads, Raichu wouldn’t be totally afraid of Mat and cower away. Like any animal would, it could sense that Mat was a calm and level headed man, and wouldn’t have the initial feeling of panic. It wouldn’t come out of hiding, but it also wouldn’t take much for it to warm up to the man.

🖤Damien: Possible Pokemon for Damien’s “family” Pokemon: Probably a Pokemon that could help him move more of his heavy and encumbering decorations. A psychic type like an Espeon would be a good idea, or maybe its dark countertype like Umbreon (plus Damien seems more like a cat person, and the eeveelutions look like cats sooo). (if first scenario) Damien automatically would have a feeling that something was awry with the Pokemon. He might not be an expert himself, but after being around an (umbreon/espeon/both) he had developed sort of sixth sense for Pokemon. Once the poor things situation was explained his heart would immediately go out for the poor creature. He would provide it with encouraging words like he would a person, which would quickly earn him Raichu’s favor. (if second scenario) He would assume that the Raichu was that of a timid nature, and would provide it all the space and time it would need to warm up to him. He understands shyness no matter where it comes from.
