Finally remembered to post lmao. 

I tried a bunch of new techniques I thought of for shading and lighting and in general this was really fun to make. Especially the blush, shading the hair, and doing the lil highlights on the bow. Those were the best parts ^^. I was gonna do a full park background buuuut I couldn’t get the colors right, so I just edited a pic of clovers I took from my backyard. I figured because it was a darker green it’d bring out her eyes a bit better. 

OH! Should probably mention, this is for a comic series I’m making called: Aishiteiru. A yandere romance comic about two yanderes learning to have a healthy relationship together as their pasts start catching up to them.

Back from the dead to post again!

So it’s been like a year??? A lots happened since then, I’ve graduated highschool and I’m in college now as a psych major. Its really time cosuming but I really like college so far ^^. 

But anyways I redesigned Peppin like a couple months ago and I’ve been able to make enough time for drawing that I decided to post again! If you’ve seen my old version of her theres been a few changes but I think its for the better. I want to explain the changes and why I made them because I think talking about art process is interesting ^^.

I changed her from grey skin to her natural skin color because I wanted to distance her from her original purpose which was a fandom related oc to the yandere game: Your Boyfriend. She is of course part of my comic series I am still developing “Ashiteiru.” This is also why I changed her bow. Her bow now has a plush heart broach in the knot section because in Ashiteiru, heart symbols are used for a yandere organization to symbolize they are apart of the group. While common members tend to share a symbol, significant members within the group have their own distinguishable symbols. Peppin’s father (who will be posted about later) is not only a signifcant part of the group but has been there since a little after it was established and by proxy she is considered a significant member of the group even if she isn’t an active one. 

I also changed her hair and (somewhat) facial features mainly because I wanted to make her hair more representative to who she is: someone who is mixed (African American/Japanese American.) When I first created her I wasn’t fully sure how to balance both sides of that part of her identity in her appearance and I made mistakes because of that. But I decided to give her 4C hair and monolids instead of double eyelids. I might change her hair in the future mainly because I keep seeing afro puffs with beaded braids on the side and I think it actually might be more characteristic of Peppin than having mainly unstyled hair. Plus I think its a really cute hairstyle. 

There will be more content tho! I am working on a map for the general area Peppin, her roomate, and love interest live in. When I am done I will post that and I do have a few other things I am planning to post when I am done.

Another post! ^^

Alright so I made two versions of the map: the uneditied version and a version that has the three different character’s handwriting on it. It’s mainly just to specify where they live and their workplaces. I should note, this won’t be the final map and I’ll likely make a more detailed version later on this is just meant to be a placeholder so I have reference to where important locations are.

This also won’t be the only town map and I’ll be working on the town that the second main half of the comic will be in later on. I will also likely make floor plans for the apartment buildings, Peppin’s/Holly’s apartment, Val’s Apartment, the diner, the butchery, and bar. However maps/floorplans will likely be made more sporadically. 

The next thing I plan to make is finished concept art for Holly, Peppin’s roomate and best friend.

Doing Inktober this year for a competition at my college art club! I'm kinda combining different prompts list to make my own list but for yesterday I did goretober's "teeth" prompt.

I used my oc's Peppin and Val for this one. Hope you like ^^

Day 5 finished! ^^ so I did the kawaiitober prompt "cake" but I obviously put my own spin on it again. Mainly cause my oc Peppin is a butcher and uses it to kill anyone she deems a threat to her and Val's relationship.

I definitely messed up some perspective parts but perspectives hard anyways. Especially traditionally tbh. But I still like this drawing a lot either way! ^^

Day 10 finished ^^ I did kawaiitober's prompt "harajuku" for today and just drew my oc Peppin since a lot of her style is reminiscent to the different harajuku styles.

Tho I mainly wanted to use it as an opportunity to see if I wanted to add bubble socks to her silhouette to make it more recognizable. I think I might since it majes her silhouette especially unique compared to the rest of the cast.

Day 11 done ^^ I did cringetober's prompt "yandere" today.

Honestly I feel like my drawing process is going faster since starting inktober. Like usually I'm very slow drawing wise but I've gone from it taking 4hrs each day to like 2 to 3hrs. Idk if its a skill thing or if I'm getting more confident in drawing but its a cool thing to notice either way.

So today I did the OCtober prompt "Oc Au" and ended up using my bad ending version of Ashiteiru in which Peppin fully leans into her yandere tendencies and kidnaps Val, who becomes a willing participant because he's yandere for her too. Over time, she gets more extreme about it and spirals until eventually cannibalizing Val alive or at least until he dies of shock. Once he dies, she keeps him in a freezer in the butchery she works at (which is a front for yanderes to be connected to eachother) and continues eating him. Her whole point in doing it is so he will be with her forever, in her twisted sense.

Though of course this isn't gonna be the canonical ending, its just an idea that leans into the horror aspect of Ashiteiru rather than the romance side.

Day 15 ^^ I did cringetober's prompt "song lyrics" and ended up doing the song 'Ptolemaea' by Ethel Cain. I love her Preachers Daughter album ^^.

I decided to use this day as practice for drawing comic panels since I don't really know what to fully do comics yet, even though I draw so often. I also got to figure out what Peppin's hair looked like a year before the comic starts which was fun to draw.

Tbh my hands hurt a TON since I've been drawing since like 1pm or so, maybe 12? But it's totally worth it because it was really fun to draw and happy with how it turned out ^^

Day 20 complete ^^

I did the cringetober prompt "Hananaki Disease" and used my oc Harely for it since his whole deal is having an unrequited love for Peppin.

I used red camilla flowers for it since I saw they mean unrequited love and specifically, unrequited that a person can't overcome.

Day 22 finished ^^ I did the cringetober prompt "sailor uniform/maid uniform" and drew a younger version of Peppin since sailor uniforms are usually like a middle school thing.

Tbh it was hard making her look younger but I think I did ok. I did have fun drawing her hair tho ^^. I need to figure out a bigger variety of hairstyles to do though. Especially for when she's younger.
