nobody quite knows its beauty

it is hidden under layers of shell is a feathery fan

let out to gather

then grasped back in in a flick

oh how beautiful it is

sparkling under the water

when the tide lowers it hides

hides within its pearly white shell

only to be seen again

when the tide rises
