First meetings >> Always open; specify muse Our muses to meet at a festival

It was a much needed vacation. After spending so much of his time playing babysitter for an ungrateful, self proclaimed vigilante, it was nice to be able to take some time for himself. Jordi typically prided himself on keeping himself busy, but man... Even the most dedicated needed a break after all of that. He still couldn’t help but wonder how he was doing.

Jordi walked down the street lost in his own mind until the amount of people around started to increase in groups. It seemed to be some sort of street fair or event, looking up he could see the stands up ahead, smell the scent of fried food in the air. Couldn’t hurt to look around, with a shrug, he pushed on forward down the center, walking slowly as he looked from side to side.

He was dressed more causally than he did when he was working. He tucked his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans, his satin, dark red shirt tucked in buttoned up to the top three. Laying low, he figured it was probably best to not dress the same as he typically did, but there was no turning away from the only style one really has. His steps slowed down as he caught sight of one stand that had jewelry on display. All sorts of tacky pendants and rings, the sort of things kids liked to beg their parents for. He stepped closer, glazing over it all. He was starting to turn away when one caught his eyes, a necklace. With a knife.

“Oh, that’s too good to pass up,” the irony of it made him laugh. How ridiculous he would probably seem if anyone knew, but it was also just too good. Once he bought, he put it on and turned to keep walking, a satisfied smile on his face. He didn’t notice the woman standing there when he turned, bumping his arm into her as he tried to pass, “Hey, watch it,” he said, “You shouldn’t stand so close, you might just get run over.”

Jordi studied her for a moment as she spoke, looking her over. Young girl, the typical type you’d see at these things. She was even distracted by her phone when he bumped her. In the middle of the street, with so many people walking past? Careless even. Though, he wasn’t about to admit he hadn’t been paying attention either. It was better to just push the blame.

He smiled, a wide grin, as she complimented the necklace. An appreciation for the bling, he could feed into that a bit. Glaze over the fact that he was the one that bumped into someone not even moving. He stuck his thumb under the chain, holding it up from the collarbone a bit, “You like that? Its a bit cheesy, and definitely the kind of needlessly edgy that kids today love. But, I dunno, I kinda like it,” he let it drop again and nodded his head back over his shoulder, “Back there at that stand. Little pricey, but, thats the beauty of the scam.”

The metal was far from being any kind of silver, so it was hardly worth what they were asking for. But, the novelty of it is what draws people in. He can recognize a proper money grab, the kind that brings in the cash at far less than the cost. Capitalism at its finest, “I’m sure you could probably find something to catch your eye. Everyone does, right?” Jordi glanced back to the stand. He wasn’t usually materialistic, but he couldn’t pass up irony.

Wow, this girl was... really something. Jordi knew he could be chatty at times, its a good distraction for most people, but this was a whole other level. She was a real spectacle, sticking out like a sore thumb. Pair that with her mouth, she was likely the perfect scapegoat. It was just a shame he wasn’t being chased.

“I don’t let anyone tell me what to do,” Jordi just raised an eyebrow, keeping it light as he flashed a smile, “Unless, of course, they’re paying me well enough.” It was a terrible joke, but those were Jordi’s favorite. He just loved to make other people miserable, even if its with a cheesy pun, “As far as I’m concerned, society can kiss my shoes. Never liked to fit in anyway.”

Watching her, he just nodded. He had to wonder, for just a moment, how much of what she was like was real. He’d never quite met someone like her with such a loud personality that wasn’t faking most, if not everything, they put on. Maybe that was too judgmental, but he wasn’t one to trust what he saw on the surface anyway.

“Like I said, a bit pricey, but,” he shrugged, turning to walk past her as he waved his hand lazily to the side, “good luck finding something.”

Before Aiden could grab the coffee, another hand reached out and took it from under his fingers. A familiar white suit and snarky attitude, “Well, well, well. Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes?”

Jordi had been watching the little store for someone to come in, someone he had been tailing. There was a connection he was following, a little gang war he’d found himself chasing. It seemed profitable enough, he had enough clients out west who could benefit from the gangs downfall. It was hard to find smaller jobs these days. Looking to the man in front of him, he could see just why that was.

“And I know sore eyes, since you gave me a nice one the last time we were this close.” He looked at the coffee for a moment before just setting it back down on the counter and throwing a hand to pat Aiden’s shoulder, turning him so they could walk back towards the door, “Trust me, you don’t want the coffee here, it’s hardly even caffeine. You want something that will really work? I know a place. My treat, for old times sake.”

He wasn’t expecting to run into the infamous Vigilante himself again after their last encounter. Laying low for a while proved to be much less exciting than watching the man take on the Chicago South Club. Like a much needed vacation, but the money always speaks louder than time off. Here he was, watching out for another target when something else crosses his path. Something he’d need to go away so he could do his job.

Closed Starter For @n0va-c41ne

closed starter for @n0va-c41ne

San Francisco was a hot spot. A literal hot spot, it seemed like the sun never stopped shining there for more than a few moments. What was it that was so attractive to people about California? Was there some innate sense of manifest destiny in these young people even in the 21st century? It seemed unlikely, but what was clear for sure was that rich kids really tried to fool themselves thinking they’re “someone” by living in what is probably a literal hell on earth.

Jordi scoffed at the thought. What did it matter? They’d all waste their lives away in no time anyway. Waste it, or at least blow their money on something stupid. Young people were good at that. He watched another pair walk past the alley, not even paying him any mind as he sat behind the wheel of his car. They were talking, he could hear them. Excited about something, showing it off on their phones.

“Nope, it’s not you,” Whoever this girl was-- kid he should say, recalling the details of their file-- he figured she would likely stick out enough to him. All these hackers around this town were the same, it wasn’t the same as it was in Chicago. Technology grew more and more all the time. Annoying, as the CtOS cameras continued to glance his way now and then, “Not here, not now, not ever.”

He started the car again. moving it to a more secluded location, something that wasn’t stared at by the cameras. God was there anywhere in this city they weren’t looking? Once Jordi felt more out of sight, he checked his gun was loaded and left the car to just walk. The ones who hired him had been specific about what they wanted from the target. She knew something she shouldn’t. Jordi just had to get it, or kill them. Easy. Idly, he pulled his leather gloves out, pulling them on one at a time. Slow, methodic, as his eyes scanned the area. Keeping behind the cars on the side of the street, he spotted them.

A smile pulled at his lips a bit, “Well well, there you are,” he hummed to himself, moving closer to her.

Getting a good look at them, oh yeah Jordi could definitely tell this was the one. It always amazed him how some people in this town did the bare minimum to hide themselves. Even these so called “elite hackers” tended to act like they were so far above everything that hiding was pointless. Maybe they were right to an extent, but it just made them bigger targets. And when someone got the upper hand, there was nowhere they could run.

“Oh yes, I am,” his eyes followed as they seemed to reach for something, the motion not escaping him, “Don’t even try it,” a swift motion, he pulled out his own gun and point it at them, “You try anything and it’ll only make things worse for you.”

The determined look in Jordi’s eye was not one easily swayed. He had a job to do and he would do it by any means necessary. The client didn’t care for the outcome, only that they got what they want, what they paid for.

“Catherine Rheeves, huh?” he exhaled a hard laugh, “You know, being in this town, you start to see a lot of sad things in people. But, I think that has to be the saddest attempt to hide, don’t you think, Vivienne? One in your position might think they’d want to hide a bit better than that.”

Jordi shook his head as he stepped closer, though keeping his distance from them, “Oh well, makes my job easier at least. Who am I to complain about an easy pay day?”
