The memory surfaced unexpectedly. She was laughing in a sunlit room. This room, and this bed, with the sheets rumpled and well-used. Enver was stretched out across them, naked. Beautiful. He was lounging on pillows, ever the spoiled lord, but his arms stretched above his head, bound by a length of black silk that was tied somewhere near the headboard. His jaw was clenched, but he looked at her with a haze of lust and longing in his eyes. Her pale hand held a dagger, one of his many gifts, too delicate to be much use in most of her work. But it was perfect for today. She slowly licked the blade and tasted the salt and iron of his blood while he watched every movement of her mouth. “Darling Enver,” she mocked. “Is this worth it, to be able to call me yours? Do you have the pet Bhaalspawn you’ve always desired?”

Anyone else let him walk through the door first in the Creche because he just always looks so pretty in this cutscene? Look at me not posting Astarion kisses. Turns out, it is possible.

Tonight, Astarion decides he’ll risk it all for a bite.

He’d nearly limped back to camp after draining the deer, every thought fixated on her, on tasting her, of swallowing a mouthful of her blood just to see if it’d finally be what he imagined it to be, if it’d finally fill him up…

Once he’s on the outskirts of camp he sees her lying alone by the fire. Her chest rises and falls, her lashes dusting her cheeks. She’s ripe for the taking, her beating heart thundering in his ears. Her body beckons him closer until he’s standing above her, swallowing thickly. He’s so close he can almost taste it, drifting closer as his legs move on their own.

He falls to his knees, helpless to his desire. Something stirs within- trepidation. Fear of being caught… he’s fragile, weary, so hungry that he somehow feels guilty for wanting to take from her, for being sneaky like this… It must be the thirst making him feel ashamed…

There’s nothing else on his mind, nothing but the ba-dum, ba-dum in the silent night. It’s so loud, clouding his mind. He holds his breath, trying to resist, to not breathe in her scent. The strength of it transcends his barriers, and he can no longer deny himself, betting on odds that outstack him…

Flare ran her fingertips over Astarion’s scalp, gently scratching around the base of his horns. His purring immediately drowned out the thudding of his tail against the couch and Flare’s lips twitched in an unguarded smile. Astarion licked her wrist until the wound stopped bleeding, and then a few more slow licks over her skin so they could stay as they were for a few moments longer. He released her wrist against his chest, watching her closely between half-lidded eyes. The pace of her fingers didn’t waver through his hair, but he needed to be sure he wasn’t asking too much of her.
