Jirai is a subculture based in Japan.

A lot of people see dark girly kei and call it jirai fashion but that is not the case plus its also harmful for actual jirais (it makes our spaces less safe for actual jirais). Dark girly kei is a style that is ofyen associated with jirai but its not the only thing jirais wear. You can be jirai and wear whatever because it is a lifestyle. You can not be jirai and wear dark girly kei the problem is when you say you are/dress jirai.

Jirai is also called landmine in English. As the name suggests most people in the jirai community will "explode like a landmine" at anything. A lot of jirai have bpd or any other personality disorder. Its a very mentally ill community. Jirais coping mechanisms are often bad and thats another reason we dont want mentally sane people in our community so we dont drag them down with us or make them think to fit in you have to be messed up. Its often a harmful community to outsiders (if ur not mentally ill and trying to take over our space).

Theres lots of unhealthy coping mechanisms yes but jirais will almost always help other jirais out (keyword is almost and sometimes we think were helping but were really not lol). In the community we can ask for help on how to stay safe while being unhealthy/unhappy. We teach each other how to care for sh, how to not die even if everything in you is telling you that you should, ect. Yes were not the best but its easier to get help from other messed up people because you can all relate.

Theres lots of drugs, sh, suicide, cutting people off, homelessness, ed, sex work, drinking, toxicity, ect but were all trying to live in this messed up world. And this is not me saying you need all these things to be jirai cuz you dont. Dont go and do drugs if you're not already addicted (it gets way to expensive/hj).

If you're trying to recover this is not the place for you. Being a jirai means you dont really want to fet better (there are jirais who flip back and forth about getting better or jirais who dont care if they get better or not).
