Winded Path
Winded Path

Walking down the winded path I am aware of the race I’m running, like a dog of its master's death My feet hoped to piroutte to the song of the ocean Now they trudge on rocks that do not bear my name
Speedsters pass by me, leaving me in dust I worry that I won't feel the pelagic melody again, then I go back to my ways I whelve away my poetic longing I'll hate myself for the disonnance and then rage at the world
Tell me not to go down that thought Then shove me further down that spiral I'll squander my youth dreaming of what could have been Then spend my last days resenting what was
This winded road has bartered me a mirage and for my passion Signposts mock my dull stride while I sigh at my nudnik troubles I'll squander my youth dreaming of what could have been Then spend my last days resenting what was

I wouldn't take down the Christmas lights, and I wouldn't let the smiles turn away. You see, I am fond of staying back - and never leaving. So, if you asked me to stay, I would. I like keeping things for a very long time before I let them go because I can't be harsh with my heart. I'll let my heart have little things that are in my control, like the Christmas lights even while it's past January, like the pictures of a moment so magical, like the seasons long past they've crossed. I let winter stay till it feels the warmth of summer blending in the wind. I hold onto people long after they have left the previous pages of my story, sometimes time steals them away, sometimes they just don't let me. So I hold onto things that make the transition a little easier. I don't know how to skip phases, I have to walk through grey before I reach white from black. I have to explore all the shades leading me to the light. You see, I hold onto seasons, lights, and so many other things only because at times I cannot hold onto people.

one of my favorite sensations is when you can feel the ocean nearby without seeing it
my dad was talking about how love is a ghost. it slips under door frames, lies forgotten in the attic, leaves the windows open for the breeze to blow in and scatter the papers on your desk. love is a storm, it's what haunts you at night. he said that love is a ghost we chase our whole lives.
my mom said that love is a garden you water everyday. you can poison it, or grow it with love and sunlight. there will be disasters that uproot your garden, but just like the patience with which you wait for plants to grow, you have to let your love grow back like apple blossoms after a winter storm.
maybe the most important question you can ever ask someone is, "what do you think love is?" because understanding is instrumental to love. you have to love someone in their language, you have to fight for someone who thinks that love is won after a hard battle, and you have to wipe away the blood of someone who thinks that love is a sword held by its blade.
