i think i am fundamentally unlovable. i break everything i touch.

I often think about the contrast between Asuka and Rei that’s developed throughout NGE, and I quite like it.

A girl with short blue hair and blood red eyes that hold no emotion yet say so much, and a girl with long red hair that billows around her and and blue eyes that show everything. A pale plugsuit with little color and defining detail, and a bold plugsuit that screams to be noticed and demands your attention. A girl who is called a doll, and a girl who rages at the mention of them.

A girl who says she can be replaced, and a girl who’s greatest nightmare is that she is replaceable.

A girl who feels so few of the emotions ascribed to humanity, and ascends to godhood, and a girl who is subjected to the full experience of human pain and trauma, and is killed in her moment of vulnerability. A girl who is struck down as a god, and a girl who drags herself back to humanity after enduring so much.
