Twins
Harper was furious. How dare they hurt his sister? She did nothing to them.
This is an AU of Player's kids in the future.
All characters belong to the creator of Carmen Sandiego except for the twins and their mother. I don't own any of them.

Harper was furious. How dare they hurt his sister? She did nothing to them.
They were evil. Tiny demons, if you will. Although, not as evil as some of the people their aunt Carmen had to deal with.
Harper sat at his desk, looking at the red colouring pencil in his hand. When was the last time they saw her? It must have been at least a good few months.
He tapped his pencil against the desk, shaking with rage. The page in front of him empty, a blank space, mocking him.
They had been given an assignment, to draw someone that inspires them. The only problem was, he had a few people that inspired him and he couldn't choose which one of them he should do. His father, his mother, his sister or, his aunt Carmen. They all inspired him, so who to choose?
He didn't know what his father did exactly, nor did he his aunt, but all he knew was that his dad was amazing with technology and that he helped his aunt to change the world. One step at a time.
His mother was a writer, an author, and she created amazing stories for children and adults alike. All it took was a spark of imagination and the story flowed out like a dam breaking.
His sister, his dear sister, who had been put through hell and back because some arrogant people can't accept change. She meant the world to him, and he'd go to the ends of the Earth to protect her from any evil that came their way.
The teacher walked around the room, inspecting every child's drawing, as if he was expecting some Picasso level painting, because each time he laid eyes on one of the children's drawings, his eyebrows fell down into a crease, scowling at the child's drawing, almost disappointedly.
The teacher wasn't really a work of art himself however, and neither were any of his many 'paintings' that were hung up on the walls, each in a wooden frame.
The man had gelled black hair, although it looked more like he'd been whacked across the head by an octopus, with the amount of gel that was in his hair. He had dark blue eyes, that look more grey than blue at most times, and big, dumbo like ears. His face was covered in wrinkles, a sign that the man was indeed old. What was he now? Late fifties? Maybe sixties? Possibly seventies? And yet, here he was, still teaching a bunch of six year olds basic maths and showing them how to draw what most of them already can, stick figures. Honestly what was he expecting from them when he asked them to draw someone who inspires them? Hyper detailed realistically accurate coloured version of the person? Come on.
He wore a two piece suit, both pieces black, and brown, freshly polished dress shoes. He also had a black handle bar moustache. He looked like he had been plucked out of one of those old films he had seen his parents watching, from the nineteen-thirties perhaps. Seriously, this was a school, not some grand ball thrown by the Queen of England, or another important figure of society. There really was no need to be dressed so formally.
Harper made eye contact with his sister and she smiled and waved at him. He grinned. It was nice to see her so happy. Suddenly, he heard someone clearing their throat, and he froze. Rosy's eyes widened as well, and she mouthed an apology at the fact that she had distracted him.
"Mr Bouchard, care to explain to me as to why, we are half way through our lesson, and yet your paper is still blank?" He heard the voice behind him ask. He winced, he really couldn't have drawn a line or something to make it seem like he'd done some work?
"I'm sorry Mr Williams but I've got lots of people that inspire me and I can't pick one." He replied, turning to face his teacher, eyes darting around the classroom, looking for a way to escape the patronising gaze of the man before him.
"If I do not see anything on this page," he pushed his finger down onto the page, crinkling it slightly. Even the way he talks is posh, "by the end of this lesson, then I will have to call your parents in. This is the fourth time you have not done work because you 'could not decide on someone'. It is really getting old and I am getting tired of your excuses Mr Bouchard."
Harper's eyes widened. They couldn't call his parents! They were already busy enough, and troubling them and causing them more problems over something as stupid as not doing a drawing was ridiculous.
"I'll have something down by the end of the lesson Mr Williams." He said, finally making eye contact.
"You better had. You do not want me to call your parents in because of something this simple, do you?"
Harper shook his head.
"No Mr Williams"
"Good. Get to it then."
He didn't have anything down. So, here he was sitting in the headmasters office, waiting for his parent to arrive.
Mr Williams was stood next to the headmasters desk, arms crossed. He didn't look very happy. Sat next to him was the headmaster. Harper was looking down, embarrassed, hoping this will be over soon.
"Mr Bouchard, I thought you had said you would have something down by the end of the lesson." Mr Williams remarked.
Harper looked up.
"I know. I'm sorry. I couldn't-"
"Decide on who to draw. You keep saying that, and look where it has gotten you."
"Now now, he feels bad as it is Mr Williams, you don't need to make him feel worse." The headmaster told him.
"I was gonna say I couldn't think of where to start." Harper mumbled.
"What was that young man?"
"Nothing sir."
The headmaster was a chubby man about the age of 40, and yet he was growing grey hair on the sides of his head and balding on top. The man wore a pink striped shirt, with blue suspenders over the top. Harper couldn't see the bottom half because of the oak desk between them.
Bookshelves scattered the walls on either side of him, most mainly empty, with a few bits and bobs here and there, and some filled with books.
There was a knock on the door, snapping Harper out of his train of thought.
"Come in" the headmaster shouted.
The door opened. There were his parents. He made eye contact with his father and looked away immediately, ashamed.
"We came as soon as we could. What's going on?" He heard his mother ask.
"Mr and Mrs Bouchard, please, take a seat." The headmaster asked, or demanded.
His parents both looked at each other worriedly, and then proceeded to sit in the other two chairs there.
"What's all of this about?" His father questioned.
"Nothing too big, so there's no need to worry, Mr Bouchard. It's just about Harpers schoolwork." He reassured his parents.
"What about it?" His mother chimed in.
"It has recently come to my attention by Mr Williams here," the man in question raised his hand, "that Harper has not been doing his schoolwork and has been making stupid excuses as to why." The headmaster remarked.
"Is this true Harper?" His mother asked.
"Only my art work, mum. I do everything else! Plus, it's only happened four times, like, once a month or something like that!" Harper replied.
"Wait wait wait," his father waved his hands up and down, "you mean to tell us that you called us," he moved his hands to refer to himself and his wife, "to the school just because our son hasn't done what, four pieces of work? There gotta be a lot of other kids that don't do it either. I mean, they're six for crying out loud!"
"Parker." His mother warned, her voice low. She put her hand on her husbands shoulder gently and smiled at him lovingly, in order to calm him down, so there isn't a scene caused.
The man's eyes widened. She never called him by his real name. It was always by his code name, Player. She really didn't want to make a scene.
"Yes. Other kids haven't done work as well and we'll be calling there parents in as well but Harper resists against his teacher so we've had to call you in first." the bald man told them.
"This is ridiculous" Player mumbled. His wife elbowed him, and gave him a glare. He rolled his eyes.
"How does he resist?" The woman asked.
"Uhh Mr Williams? How does Harper resist exactly?" The headmaster looked to the man.
"Umm... well... he gives me a lot of lip and doesn't participate in physical activities when I tell him to." Came his reply.
"There's a perfectly good explanation for that Mr Williams" the dark haired female said.
"And what is that explanation, Mrs Bouchard?" He said, looking down his nose at her. Judging by the stories he'd overheard from the twins on the playground, they were both reckless, adventurous and clever people. It was obvious that he didn't particularly like Harper, and because the two young adults in front of him were his parents, he didn't particularly like them either. They raised their child wrong. They should raise them to treat their seniors and their superiors with the respect they deserve. Harper and Rosy had none for him.
"Harper has been advised by his doctor to take it easy if he's hurting" the woman crossed her arms.
"If he's hurting? That's got to be the stupidest reason for a kid taking a break or not participating in activities. What is he? An old man like me? Because if I'm not allowed to get out of doing it with the students, neither should he." The man laughed and wiped a tear that came to his eye.
"Mr Williams! The doctor informed me of this and I have told you this as well. It seems you've forgotten though." The headmaster scolded.
"Forgotten what? That he" the man pointed at Harper. He looked down embarrassed. "shouldn't be doing Physical Education because he's 'hurting'?"
"No I informed you on why his legs hurt."
"And why is that?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Because he's an amputee." Player said to him. "He wears prosthetics. He's been to school with crutches before and a wheelchair. The reason he was told not to all the time is because he experiences phantom pain. Is that all you need us for, to mock our son for his disability and waste mine and my wife's time?"
"Even so, he still gives me lip when I tell him to stop making symbols with his hands to Rosy." Mr Williams was flustered at getting called out. Oh how he hated this family. He just wanted one reason to get one of the children in trouble.
"You mean when he's signing what you're saying so she can understand?" The woman asked.
"Signed? As in sign language?"
"Yes. Rosy's deaf and although she has hearing aids, she still needs a little help to understand because they don't magically make her able to hear." Player glared at the man. "Is that all?" He looked back to the headmaster.
"Is that all Mr Williams?" The older man asked.
"Yes" He grumbled.
"You may all leave now. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I thought we had a different issue at hand." He told the family.
"Thank you" both of the parents said. They rose from the seats, and Harper followed and left the office.
"Unbelievable" Player mumbled, shaking his head.
"Did I do something wrong?" Harper asked, looking up at his father.
"No Harper you did nothing wrong. Your teacher just forgot about you and your sisters disabilities, that's all." He patted his son on his brown hair. Harper grinned at him and he smiled back.
They walked to the inside entrance of the school where Rosy was sitting on one of the blue chairs, swinging her legs. When she noticed the door open she looked up and smiled.
"Is everything ok? Did Harper get in trouble?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.
"No sweetie, he didn't." Her mother replied.
"Are we going home now?"
"Yes we are."
She walked to the door and opened it, signalling for them to go before her.
As the twins were walking in front of them and talking amongst themselves happily, Player decided to make conversation with his wife beside him, who was holding his hand.
"It's a good thing Red didn't want to do a caper today huh?" He laughed. She smiled.
"Yeah, lucky us. Otherwise I'd be stuck dealing with that man on my own." She chuckled.
"I would've come as fast as I could if I had to help Red, but I'm assuming you already knew that, didn't you Iris?"
"Yep. You'd do anything for the twins." He glared at her.
"And you."
"Oh you can spare some love for me now too?" She put her hand on her chest. "I'm honoured." She teased.
"No I don't think I will anymore, you've taken it for granted too many times." He looked away, feigning offence. When he looked at Iris however, he couldn't keep it up and they both burst into laughter.
The twins looked behind them to see their parents giggling to themselves.
"What are they laughing at?" Rosy asked, turning to her brother.
"I have no idea. It could be anything really." He said.
"Yeah you're right."
The next day at school when Harper walked into the classroom he made immediate eye contact with Mr Williams. Harper looked away awkwardly, cheeks red and biting the inside of his cheek. He sat down in his seat and got out his blue pencil.
"You got taken to the headmaster's office yesterday, didn't you?" The girl next to him asked.
She had long curly black hair that had been tied into pigtails with red bobbles. She had a blue and black striped shirt, and black leggings.
Harper raised an eyebrow.
"How do you know that?" He asked.
"Yesterday. Mr Williams told you that you needed something on your paper or he was gonna get your parents. You didn't have anything by the end of the lesson." She told him.
"You were looking at my work?"
Her eyes widened and she turned red.
"Yes. I was." She muttered.
"Why?"
She shrugged her shoulders.
"I was gonna ask you about who you drew but then, y'know, you didn't draw anyone."
"Why did you want to ask me about it?"
"You ask lots of questions. I've been wanting to be your friend for awhile but I didn't know how to talk to you."
"Oh." He stuck his hand out in front of her awkwardly. "I'm Harper."
The girl just sat there looking at his hand.
"You're supposed to shake my hand hand and tell me your name after." He told her.
"O-oh. Sorry." She laughed awkwardly. She grabbed his hand and shook it. "I'm Frankie."
They both smiled at each other.
Mr Williams cleared his throat and began the lesson, narrowing his eyes and glaring at the Harper as he began to sign to Rosy.
"What are you doing?" Frankie whispered, after noticing Harper signing.
"Rosy's deaf so in lessons I sign what the teachers saying so she can understand." He whispered back.
"That's sweet of you. But wouldn't it of been easier if you were sat next to each other?"
"It would be, but Mr Williams sat us in these seats and when I tried to tell him he dismissed it."
"Oh"
They both went back to listening to the teacher again.
At break time, the students all filed onto the yard, going to their friend groups. Harper walked towards Rosy.
"Harper wait up!" He heard someone say. He turned to find Frankie running towards him.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Playing with my friend. Where are we going?" She said, like it was the most the most obvious thing in the world.
"I'm trying to find Rosy."
"She's your sister, right?"
"Yeah, she's my older twin sister."
"Older? It seems like you're the oldest. You're always worrying about her and trying to help her."
"We take care of each other." He smiled gently.
"Take care of each other? How does she help you?"
"When it comes to my disability." He raised his trousers leg up and she gasped as she saw the prosthetic leg.
"Wow. I had no idea." She looked back up to him.
"That's kinda the point." He laughed.
They turned the corner to find Rosy sitting on the floor, with her head down. She was sobbing quietly, holding her ears. Harper and Frankie's eyes widened.
"What happened?!" He shouted.
She didn't respond. Harper crouched down and gripped her hands. She gasped and tried to escape until she looked up and saw it was her brother.
'What happened?' He signed.
"They ripped my hearing aids out." She whimpered.
"WHAT?!" He yelled.
Frankie put her hand on Harper's shoulder and gave him a sad smile. He pulled her hands from her ears, with much resistance from Rosy. Finally, he managed to keep her hands down and gasped. Her ears were bleeding. Frankie bent down to look and gasped as well. Harper's hand clenched and his knuckles turned white. They did this.

Chapter 10
The door in front of Fullmetal and the three guards with him was shut. Why?
"What's this? Open up." The guard to in front of him ordered. The flap on the door opened. The old man with the handlebar moustache appeared.
"What's the password?" He asked.
"What?" The guard was confused. The guard behind Fullmetal was yanked into the air.
"Nope."
"Open this door." The guard demanded. The guard to Fullmetal's right was pulled away.
"Not even close." The old man teased.
"You have three seconds. One..." The guard to Fullmetal's left was lifted upwards. "Two..." The guard to Fullmetal's right was pulled away. "Three..." The guard turned around to see just Fullmetal, who just gave him a small wave and and awkward smile. The door behind him opened and the guard got hit over the head with a wrench.
"Wrenches. Who knew, right?" The small man joked. They all began running towards the outside where the one with glasses pushed Fullmetal onto a mounted beam of wood.
"Head down." He instructed.
"Head down." Fullmetal repeated.
"Arms in."
"Arms in."
"Knees apart"
"Knees apart. Knees apart? Why do I need to keep my..." the man was cut off when some of the thugs jumped on the board, catapulting him into the air.
"AHHHHHHHH!" He screamed, but maintained the position. He ended up landing on Mustangs back.
"You brought them here?" Fullmetal asked. Mustang neighed to say yes. "Thank you." Mustang glared at him. "No really, thank you. Uh, I feel maybe this whole time we've just been misunderstanding one another." Mustang gave him the 'really?' face. "And we really just, yeah you're right. We should go." The horse started running towards the edge. "Mustang! WHOAAAAA!" He yelled as Mustang jumped across the rooftop into the city square.
"Okay Mustang, lets see how fast you can run." He and Mustang ride through the city square, the forest and then they arrive at the hidden gorge. Fullmetal hops off of Mustang and walks towards the tower.
"Winry? Winry, let down your hair." He yelled. No response. That's not good. He starts his climb up the wall when her golden hair falls from above. Fullmetal grabs it and begins his climb up the mossy walls. He jumps through the tower window.
"Winry, I thought I'd never see you again." He breathed out in happines, but gasped as he saw her in the floor, tied up and gagged. He lets out a pained gasp, and falls to to the floor in pain. Why was his stomach hurting so much? And why was there blood?
Winry yells Fullmetal's name name through her gag, on the verge of tears. He can't die!
"Now look what you've done, Winry. Oh don't worry dear. Our secret will die with him. And as for us? We are going where no one will ever find you, again." She pulls the rope she tied Winry up with, while the girl was kicking and screaming to get away. "WINRY, REALLY! ENOUGH ALREADY! STOP. FIGHTING ME!" Winry's gag fell down.
"NO! I won't stop. For every minute of the rest of my life I will fight. I will never stop trying to get away from you. But, if you let me save him... I will go with you." She pleaded.
"No. No, Winry..." Fullmetal moaned out, unable to do much more because of the pain.
"I'll never run, I'll never try to escape. Just let me heal him. And you and I will be together. Forever, just like you want. Everything will be the way it was. I promise. Just like you want. Just let me heal him." She was crying buckets now. Lust gave in. She she handcuffed Fullmetal to the wall.
"In case you get any ideas about following us." She snarled at the man.
"Edward! Oh, I'm so sorry. Everything is going to okay, though." She reassured, with a sad smile.
"No, Winry!" Fullmetal tried to stop her. He didn't want her to be in captivity for the rest of her life.
"I promise, you have to trust me."
"No...I can't let you do this."
"But I can't let you die."
"But if you do this..."
"Shhh." She pressed a finger to his lips to shut him up.
"Then you...will die." He continued anyway.
"Hey. It's gonna be all right."
"Winry, wait..." Fullmetal stops her again. Even if she did save him, he'd die anyway by being hung. It was better if he bled out. At least when he died here the last he'd see is the woman he loved.
"Edward, what..." Winry whispers. Sacrificing his last ounce of strength, he grabs Winry's hair and slices it with a broken mirror shard. Her hair instantly turned a light brown and Lusts eyes widened because she began ageing rapidly as the girls hair lost its power. Fullmetal smiled weakly. He had set her free.
"NOOO! No...NO! What have you done? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Lust screamed in anguish. She turned to look at the broken mirror, only to see her aged reflection. "No, no, no, NOOO!"
As Lust stumbles backwards towards the open window, dying, Al drags Winry's hair. The woman foot got caught in the hair and she fell out of the window, her body decaying into tiny bits of dusts. Winry runs to the window to see the woman's cloak fall to the ground and then rushes back to Fullmetal.
"No, no, no, no, Edward...." she begs. The man's head turns to the side but she grabs it and pulls him to look at her.
"Oh, look at me, look at me, I'm right here. Don't go, stay with me, Edward...."
Flower gleam and glow...
Let your powers shine...
Make the clock reverse...
Bring back what once was mine..." she sobs. She couldn't do anything. She couldn't save him. He would die and it'll be her fault. She would be stuck in this tower with no way out and the lifeless body of the man she loves.
"Winry..." Fullmetal muttered weakly.
"what...?" She asks, crying.
"...you were my new dream..." Winry sniffs.
"...and you were mine." Fullmetal succumbs to his fate and Winry's heart breaks into a million pieces, never to be rebuilt. Al looked on in sadness.
"Heal what has been hurt...
Change the fates' design...
Save what has been lost...
Bring back what once was mine..." she tries again, only for nothing to happen. The pain is to much so she sobs out the last lyric.
"...what once was mine..." her tears drop onto Fullmetal's face, onto his cheeks. Winry's eyes were shut tight as she mourned the loss. So, she didn't see the sun-shaped glow on Fullmetal's cheek where the tears fell. Gold and white light emerges from the the wound and stretches across the tower. The man's wound heals and the light enters back into his wound. His eye open.
"Winry?" He asked weakly.
"Edward." She gasped.
"Did I ever tell you, I've got a thing for brunettes?" He chuckled.
"Edward!" She beamed. She grabbed him and turned them over, connecting their lips. It was pure bliss. Something the both of them had been waiting for awhile.
In a room in the castle stood two people. A man and a woman. The King and Queen. Comforting each other. A guard rushes in through the door to tell them something and then they all rush towards the balcony. Standing there on the balcony, was Winry. Tears came to their eyes as they saw her. Her mother ran up to the young woman and grabbed her, pulling her towards her in a tight hug, her father joining in. Fullmetal stood to the side, chuckling, with a wide grin on his face. Winry's father grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him into the hug. Fullmetal turned red.
"Well, you could imagine what happened next. The kingdom rejoiced. The lost Princess had returned. The party lasted an entire week. And, honestly I don't remember much of it. Dreams came true all over the place. Thanks to Mustang, crime in the kingdom disappeared almost over night. As did most of the apples. Al, never changed. At last Winry was home, and she finally had a real family. She was a Princess worth waiting for. But above all, she led her kingdom with all the grace and wisdom that her parents did before her. And as for me, well. I started going by Edward again. Stopped thieving, basically turned it all around. But I know what the big question is; did Winry and I ever get married? Well I'm pleased to tell you. After years, and years of asking, and asking, and asking. I finally said yes." He grinned.
"Edward" Winry moaned.
"All right, I asked her."
"And we're living happily ever after." They both were smiling from ear to ear, hand in hand.

Chapter 9
Winry opened her eyes and looked at him, confused as to why he pulled back. Did he not want this? Did he not feel the same way? Was it her? Had she completely misread the situation? When they got to shore she would ask.
"Is everything okay?" She asked, when they got off the boat, upset. He couldn't make eye contact with her. She'd definitely done something wrong. He snapped out of his thoughts.
"Huh? Oh yes. Uh, yes of course. I just...I'm sorry, everything is fine. There's just something I have to take care of." He started to walk off. Where was he going?
"Okay."
"I'll be right back." He told her. He was going to sort all of this out. She wouldn't get hurt because of him and his stupidity. She wouldn't.
"It's all right, Al." She looked down at him and then at where Fullmetal went. She trusted him. She believed that he abandon her and leave her with the satchel.
Fullmetal walked towards the shadows of the men.
"Ahh, there you are. I've been searching everywhere for you guys. Since we got separated. Hey, the sideburns are coming in nice, huh? You gotta be excited about that. Anyhow, just wanted to say, I shouldn't have split. The crown is all yours. I'll miss you, but I think it's for the... best." He threw the satchel at them.
"Holding out on us again? Hey, Fullmetal?" Kimblee smirked evilly.
"What?" He gasped. They couldn't be? No. How would they? How could they have possibly found out about her hair?
"We heard you found something. Something much more valuable than a crown. We want her, instead." His eyes widened when Tucker pinched his neck, knocking him out.
Winry was starting to worry when Fullmetal hadn't shown up for awhile. Then, she saw his shadow and sighed in relief.
"I was starting to think you ran off with the crown and left me." She laughed.
"He did." Kimblee grinned.
"What? No. He wouldn't." Winry couldn't believe it. She trusted him. And he left her by herself so these thugs could do whatever they wanted to her.
"See for yourself." He signaled to the side, and there he was, sailing away in a boat. Her eyes widened and felt tears forming.
"Edward? Edward!" She screamed, hoping for some sort of reply from him. She got nothing.
"Fair trade. A crown, for the girl with the magic hair. How much do you think someone will pay to stay young and healthy forever?" The black haired man asked his friend.
"No, please. NO! NO!" She shouted, running as fast as she could. She looked behind her to see they were chasing after her, and then she tripped on a log of wood. She heard rustling in the background as she sobbed.
"Winry!" She heard her mother yell.
"Mother?" She whimpered. Lust ran over to her and crouched down to pull the crying girl into her arms.
"Oh, my precious girl. Are you all right? Are you hurt?"
"How did you?" Winry asked.
"I was so worried about you dear. So I followed you. And I saw them attack you. Let's go, let's go before they come to." She ushered the girl into the forest.
"You were right, mother. You were right about everything."
"I know darling. I know."
On the boat, Fullmetal was coming to. When he realised where he was he pulled against his restraints. The boat hit the side of something. He looked up. Crap.
"Look! The crown." A guard yelled.
He was getting taken through a hallway filled with prisoners behind bars. He kept pulling at his restraints and pushing the guards away to no avail.
"Winry. WINRY! Wait, wait, wait. Guys, guys. Winry!" He yelled.
"Let's get this over with, Fullmetal." One of the guards said to him. He raised an eyebrow.
"Where are we going?" He looked through the window and saw a hanging station. "Oh..."
Back in the tower Lust and Winry were sat on Winry's bed. Lust pulled out the last flower out of her hair.
"There, it never happened. Now, wash up for dinner. I'm making hazelnut soup." She looked at her daughter and bit the inside of her lip. "I really did try, Rapunzel. I tried to warn you, what was out there. The world is dark, and selfish, and cruel. If it finds even the slightest ray of sunshine, It destroys it."
In the prison Fullmetal was getting taken to his sentence when he saw Kimblee and Tucker next to him. He elbowed one of the guards and shoved the other and ran towards the two men. He grabbed Kimblee by the collar.
"How did you know about her?! Tell me, now!" He demanded.
"It wasn't us! It was the old lady!" Kimblee shouted back, terrified of the little man on the other side of the bars.
"Old lady? Wait, no, wait! You don't understand, she's in trouble. Wait!" He gasped, struggling against the guards again.
Winry was laying down, holding the handkerchief that Fullmetal gave her to the ceiling when she was pulled into a slideshow of memories. She gasped at the end and sat up on her bed, panting heavily.
"Winry? Winry, what's going on up there? Are you all right?" Lust asked her.
"I'm the lost princess." Winry mumbled, eyes widened in realisation.
"Please, speak up, Winry. You know how I hate the mumbling." The older woman scolded her.
"I am the lost Princess. Aren't I? Did I mumble, Mother? Or should I even call you that?" If looks could kill Lust would be in tiny little ashes on the ground.
"Winry, do you even hear yourself? Why would you ask such a ridiculous question?" Lust laughed at her stupid accusation, nervous.
"It was you! It was all, you." She pointed her finger at her 'mother'. Lust gave up the charade. There was no point anymore.
"Everything I did, was to protect you."Winry pushed her aside as she walked down the stairs, gripping her hair.
"Winry!"
"I spent my entire life!-- Hiding from people who would use me for my power."
"Winry!"
"I should have been hiding from you." She realised, and glared at the woman once more.
"Where will you go? He won't be there for you." She told her.
"What did you do to him?" She growled.
"That criminal is to be hanged for his crimes."
"No." She gasped. It was all her fault. He was going to die because of her.
"Now, now. It's all right. Listen to me. All of this is as it should be." Lust tried to approach her.
"NO! You were wrong about the world. And you were wrong about me. And I will never let you use my hair, again!" Winry yelled and stormed off.
"You want me to be the bad guy? Fine. Now I'm the bad, guy." Lust smirked evilly.

Chapter 8
It was dusk when Fullmetal woke up to a wet liquid on his face. He opened his eyes to see Mustang standing over him, panting.
"Hmm, what? Well I hope you're here to apologize." Mustang attacked him. Winry woke up to Fullmetal's screams. "AHHHH! No, no put me down. NO, NO!"
"Release him." She now stood in front of Mustang, pointing downwards. He dropped Fullmetal but still held his boot in his mouth.
"OW!" Fullmetal yelled as he hit the ground. Winry saw that his foot was shiny and gasped. Now she understood what he meant back in the pub about getting his limbs back. He was missing a leg. That also explains why he was always covering up everything. Mustang tried to attack Fullmetal again when he blew a raspberry at him.
"Whoa! Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa. Easy boy, easy, calm down. Easy boy. Easy. That's it. Now sit. Sit. Good, now drop the boot. Drop it." She demanded. He obeyed and dropped the leather boot in the floor and Fullmetal scrambled to grab it.
"Oh, you are such a good boy. Yes you are. You all tired, chasing the bad man all over the place?"
"Excuse me?" Fullmetal asked, offended.
"Nobody appreciates you, do they? Do they?" She rubbed under his chin and he neighed happily in content.
"Come on, he's a bad horse." He complained.
"Aw, he's nothing but a big sweetheart. Isn't that right?" She looked at his collar. "Mustang."
"You've got to be kidding me." He rolled his eyes. She completely ignored him and started talking to the horse next to him.
"Look, today is kinda the biggest day of my life. And I need, I need you not to get him arrested. Just for twenty four hours and then, you can chase each other to your hearts content. Okay? And it's also my birthday. Just so you know." She told him. Mustang continued to glare but neighed to tell her that he wouldn't get him arrested.
"Thank you." She walked off and when he knew she wouldn't turn around, Mustang kicked Fullmetal in the stomach. Fullmetal fell to the floor and groaned in pain.
When they entered the kingdom people kept getting caught in Winry's hair. They had to pile it up and carry it and run. Fullmetal looked around as best as he could with the hair in his arms, covering his eyes. He looked to the side to see four little girls plaiting each other's hair. He dropped Winry's hair and whistles to them. Winry looked behind her because she felt a weight and looked to see the four girls running over to Fullmetal. He pointed to Winry's hair and their eyes lit up with excitement. What was he saying to them and why did he point to her hair?
Turns out they wanted to plait it. It would make it a lot easier to move around. So, she let them. They found an area with not many people and the started to plait her hair, putting all kinds of plants and flowers into her hair as well. After they were finished, she went to find Fullmetal. When she did, she did a little twirl to show all of the flowers. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Like a goddess. Scratch that. She was a goddess. Her beauty rivalled that of Aphrodite.
The two of them, with Mustang and Al, walked around the kingdom, going to all kinds of different stalls. Fullmetal ended up buying a hand-sewn handkerchief with the kingdoms symbol on it. He turned around to give it to Winry only to see her gone and a huge crowd forming. He pushed his way through the crowd to see her grinning from ear to ear while dancing with the other civilians. He smiled widely. He didn't know why, but he really liked to see her happy. She skipped over to him and pulled him to join her in the line of people dancing. He laughed and joined her.
When night fell, he took her to the edge of the kingdom, where there was a boat waiting. They both got in but Mustang had to wait where they were before.
"Hey Mustang." He looked up at Fullmetal and then down when a bag of red apples where thrown in front of him. He gave the blonde a look.
"What? I bought them." He narrowed his eyes at him suspiciously before leaning down to take a bite of one.
"Most of them." His head snapped up as fast as lightening. The man laughed. He yelled when he got hit in the head by one of the apples and Winry giggled. Fullmetal turned to glare at Mustang when Winry grabbed him by the shoulder.
"Where are we going?"
"Well, best day of your life. I figured you should have a decent seat.
You okay?" He noticed the nervous look on her face.
"I'm terrified."
He cocked his head to the side.
"Why?"
"I've been looking out the window for eighteen years. Dreaming about what it would feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it's not everything that I dreamed it would be?" She was rubbing her hands together while looking up at him with her big blue eyes. He grabbed her hands.
"It will be." He reassured her.
"And what if it is? What then?"
"Well that's the good part, I guess. You get to go find a new dream." He smiled at her lovingly.
She had given him the satchel. But he wasn't happy. He didn't want it. Because that would mean they would separate and he might never see her again.
The lights were beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. But he couldn't really focus on them. He was too busy looking at the woman in front of him. She was in complete awe at the lights. He pulled the two lanterns he had hidden to surprise her with out. She gasped when the man tapped her on the shoulder and she saw the lanterns. They both lit them up and set them free to roam the sky, without a care in the world.
Fullmetal grabbed Winry by the chin and they both leant in, both wanting this, both wanting to be together. Just before he shut his eyes and their lips made contact, he caught a glimpse of two men. Kimblee and Tucker. He gasped and pulled back, disappointed and scared. Scared that Winry would get hurt. Because of him.

Chapter 7
Winry and Fullmetal were sat on two different logs. Winry was holding Fullmetal's injured hand with hers as she wrapped her hair around it.
"So you're being strangely cryptic as you wrap your magic hair around my injured hand." He grunted in pain.
"Sorry. Just don't...don't freak out." She asked. He looked at Al worriedly but the chameleon just looked up at him with a smug grin. That scared him more.
She began to sing. The glow that came to her golden hair came back, and travelled up to the hair that was wrapped around his hand. The glow made her hair appear a yellow colour and it reminded him a lot of the sun.
After she had finished singing she pulled her hair off of his hand and he brought it up to his face to see. His eyes widened to the point where you could probably cook a full English breakfast on them. The injury had disappeared. His jaw dropped and he was going to scream.
"Please don't freak out!" She panicked. His scream got caught in his throat.
"Ahhh. I'm not freaking out, are you freaking out? No, I'm just very interested in your hair and the magical qualities that it possesses..how long has it been doing that, exactly?" He rubbed his neck nervously, ranting. Winry laughed nervously.
"Uh. Forever, I guess. Mother said when I was a baby people tried to cut it. They wanted to take it for themselves. But, once it's cut." She pulled her hair behind her ear, and a stray piece popped out. It was a light brown. "It turns brown, and looses it's power. A gift like that, it has to be protected. That's why Mother never let me...That's why I...I never left the..."
"You never left that tower. And you're still gonna go back?" He asked, finishing her sentence for her.
"No...yes. Ugh. It's complicated.
So, Edward Elric, huh." She teased him, quickly changing the subject. Fullmetal caught on to what she was doing and played along.
"Ah yeah, well. I'll spare you the sob story of poor orphan Eugene Fitzherbert, it's a little bit ah... It's a little bit of a downer." He looked to her to see if she wanted to hear his 'sob story'. She shuffled closer to him in order to hear better. Fullmetal smiled slightly.
"There was this book." He began. "A book I used to read every night to all the younger kids. The tales of The Fullmetal Alchemist. Swashbuckling rogue, richest man alive. Not bad with the ladies, either. Not that he'd ever brag about it, of course."
"Was he a thief too?" She was curious.
"Ahh, well no. Actually, he had enough money to do whatever he wanted to do. He could go wherever he wanted to go. And...and, for a kid, with nothing. I don't know, I... It just seemed like a better option. You can't tell anyone, about this, okay? It could ruin my whole reputation." He requested.
"Ahh, you wouldn't want that." She teased.
"Oh, a fake reputation is all that a man has. Um, well I should uh... I, I should get some more firewood." He got up quickly, embarrassed. Just before he could leave she grabbed his wrist.
"Hey. For the record, I like Edward Elric much better than, the Fullmetal Alchemist." She grinned at him. He gave her a small smile back.
"Well, then you'd be the first. But, thank you." He walked off. She sighed happily to herself, glad to be on this adventure, and to be what seems to be bonding, with Edward.
"Well, I thought he'd never leave." A voice from behind her said. Winry's eyes widened and she turned around so quickly it's a surprise she didn't have whiplash.
"Mother?" She asked, eyebrows furrowed, trying to see the figure that stood before her. Lust stepped out from behind the trees.
"Hello, dear." She smiled slyly at her.
"...How did you find me?" Winry stammered.
"Oh, it was easy really. I just listened to the sound of complete and utter betrayal, and followed that."
"Mother..." Winry looked down ashamed.
"We're going home. Now." The older woman demanded.
"You...You don't understand. I've been on the most incredible journey. I've seen and learned so much. I even met someone." She smiled to herself, remembering her and Edward's earlier conversation.
"Yes, the wanted thief. I'm so proud. Come on." She continued to shop Winry.
"Mother, wait. I think... I think he likes me." She beamed.
Her mother than began a lecture on how she knows best, and threw the crown at Winry, saying that he's only there because of that before leaving.
"So, hey uh, can I ask you something? Is there any chance that I'm going to get super strength in my hand? Because I'm not going to lie - that would be stupendous. Hey, you all right?" He noticed how upset she looked.
"Oh, sorry, yes. Just um, lost in thought, I guess." She reassured him to no avail. He didn't buy it. The smile she gave him didn't reach her eyes and was one of the most male ones he'd seen. Usually her smiles were beautiful. They could light up a whole room. When she smiled her eyes smiled and the rest of the world smiled along too. But he pretended to buy it. If she didn't want to tell him he wouldn't pry. As he usually would.
"I mean because here's the thing. Superhuman good looks, I've always had 'em. Born with it, but superhuman strength? Imagine the possibilities, I'm just..."
Up in the shadows, Kimblee, Lust and Tucker were all crouched behind a bush. Kimblee went to get up to attack them but Lust put her hand up as a signal to stop him.
"Patience boys. All good things to those who wait." She said. They bothe rolled their eyes. How long was this going to take? When could they finally get their revenge and rid the world of the Fullmetal Alchemist?

Chapter 6
As the two companions were walking down the dark tunnel, Fullmetal decided to make conversation.
"Well, I've gotta say. Didn't know you had that in you back there, that was pretty...impressive." He told the girl.
"I know! I know... Sooo, Fullmetal. Where are you from?" She asked.
"Whoa, whoa, sorry Blondie, I don't do back story. However I am becoming very interested in yours. Now I...I know I'm not suppose to mention the hair."
"Nope." She agreed.
"Or, the Mother." He went on.
"Uh, uh."
"Frankly I'm too scared to ask about the frog."
"Chameleon." She corrected him.
"Nuance. Here's my question, though, if you want to see the lanterns so badly, why haven't you gone before?" They had reached the end of the tunnel. They were standing on a ledge, in the middle of a huge damn, or water system.
"Uhh, hey, well..." she saw two men down below them. "Uh, Fullmetal... Fullmetal! Who's that?" She pointed to the men.
"They don't like me." He told her, grabbing her shoulder to pull her towards the exit. The alchemists appeared at the exit of the tunnel.
"Who's that?" She asked again.
"They don't like me either." Came his reply. Mustang appeared.
"Who's that?"
"Lets just assume for the moment, that everyone here doesn't like me." He yelled. Winry passed him her wrench
"Here."
She ran towards the edge. Fullmetal's eyes widened as she hooked her hair around a block of wood and swung off the ledge. He turned back to Hawkeye.
"I've waited a long time for this." She said.
All of the guards attack him. He dodged and blocks the attacks with ease using the wrench and counter-attacks. He knocks all of them out quickly.
"Oh mama, I have got to get me one of these." He yelled with joy. He turns to see Mustang holding a dagger in his mouth. The horse begins to attack him.
"HAH!" He yelled. "You should know, that this is the strangest thing I've ever done!" Mustang flings the wrench out of his hand. Fullmetal puts his hands up. "How 'bout two out of three?" Mustang holds the dagger closer to his face.
"Fullmetal!" He heard Winry yell. Suddenly, hair was wrapped around his wrist and just before he was pulled of the edge he saluted Mustang. He almost hit the ground.
"Fullmetal, look out!" Winry yelled. He tucked into a ball, barely missing the floor. He turned around to see the alchemists getting back up. He laughed. He began running over one of the water systems, it falling behind him with each step.
"HAH! You should see your faces 'cause you look..." he swung straight into a block of wood. "Ridiculous..." he groaned.
Suddenly, water began pouring out everywhere. Fullmetal and Winry ran towards what they thought was an exit, and just as they entered it, the entrance caved in, with no exit. Water was piling in. Fast. Fullmetal dove into the water to try and find a way out. He cut his hand on one of the rocks, but there was no way out. It was no use. They were just wasting time.
"It's no use, I can't see anything." He said. Winry dove in and he pulled her back up.
"Hey, there's no point. It's pitch black down there."
"This is all my fault. She was right, I never should have done this. I'm so... I'm so sorry, Fullmetal." She sobbed.
"Edward." He said suddenly.
"What?" She looked at him, puzzled.
"My real name is, Edward Elric. So you might as well know." He laughed awkwardly. Winry figured since they were sharing, why not tell him about her hair.
"I have magic hair that glows when I sing." She said, smiling gently at him.
"What?" He gasped.
"I have..." her face light up at the realisation, and she looked at him "magic hair, that glows when I sing! Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine." The water reached the top and so they both took deep breathes and then saw her hair flow to where there was air. Fullmetal clawed at the rocks and managed to push his hand through. The rocks toppled over and they were released, both bent over and gasping desperately for air.
"We made it." She breathed out, still in shock.
"Your hair glows." Fullmetal's eyes widened.
"We're alive! We're alive!" Winry got up and started dancing, celebrating happily.
"Didn't see that coming. Her hair actually glows." He was still in shock.
"Edward..." Winry giggled.
"Why does her hair glow?" Fullmetal asked Al.
"Edward!" She shouted.
"WHAT?" He yelled back.
"It doesn't just glow." Al smiled at him. Fullmetal looked back from the chameleon to Winry, scared.
"Why is he smiling at me?"
"I'll kill him. I'll kill that Fullmetal. We'll cut him off for the kingdom. Get back the crown, come on." Kimblee yelled as he and Tucker stumbled out of a rotting tree trunk, drenched in water. Lust came out behind one of the gorgeous green trees of the forest.
"Bo-oys!... perhaps you want to stop acting like wild dogs chasing their tails, and think for a moment." They Botha pulled out daggers and got into a fighting stance, prepared to kill her if she attacked them. She laughed.
"Oh, please there's no need for that. Well if that's all you desire, then be on your way! I was going to offer you something worth one thousand crowns, would have made you rich beyond belief. And that wasn't even the best part. Oh well, C'est la vie. Enjoy your crown." She waved at them and began to walk off. The men looked at each other.
"What's the best part?" Kimblee asked her. She stopped in her tracks. She turned around with an evil grin on her face.
"It comes with revenge on the Fullmetal Alchemist."

Chapter 5
Fullmetal was hanging by the arrows he had stuck into the stones.
"You coming, Blondie?"
Winry jumped, her hair in the loop she used to pull her mother up. She fell all the way down but stopped just before her feet could touch the ground. The grass was a lush green, and looked so soft. She gulped. Her feet grazed the grass and giggled. It tickled her feet like little feathers. Once her feet were on the ground she wiggled her toes around to get used to the feeling of the grass. She grinned from ear to ear. Finally. After eighteen years. She was outside!
Over the next few hours Winry's emotions were going haywire and in all honesty, Fullmetal was kind of sick of it.
She went from disbelief and 'I can't believe I did this' to concern and 'Mother will be so furious' to
'That's okay though, what she doesn't know won't kill her, right?' and 'Oh my gosh, this will kill her.' to 'THIS IS SO FUN!' and back to 'I am a horrible dauughter, I'm going back.' and then back to 'I am never going back!' again. Then came the self-loathing of 'I am a despicable human being.' and then she went back to happiness of 'WAHHOOOOO! Best day, ever!'
Now, here we are, with Winry crouched down leaning against a rock, sobbing. Fullmetal sighed and cleared his throat.
"You know, I can't help but notice, you seem a little at war with yourself, here." He mentioned to the other blonde.
"Really?" She looked up at him in awe of his 'observational' skills.
"Now, I'm only picking up bits and pieces. Overprotective mother, forbidden road trip. This is serious stuff. But let me ease your conscience. This is part of growing up. A little rebellion, a little adventure. That's good, healthy even." He told her. Winry laughed.
"You think?" She gave him a weak smile.
"I know. You're way over thinking this, trust me. Does your mother deserve it? No Will this break her heart and crush her soul? Of course. But you just got to do it."
"Break her heart?" Her eyes widened.
"In half." He stated while rolling a grape around on the stone.
"Crush her soul?"
"Like a grape." He squeezed the grape between his fingers until it burst.
"She would be heart broken, you're right."
"I am, aren't I?" He laughed. "Oh, bother. All right, I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I'm letting you out of the deal."
"What?" Winry looked at him in disbelief.
"That's right. But don't thank me. Let's just turn around, and get you home, here's your wrench, here's your frog. I get back my satchel. You get back a mother daughter relationship based on mutual trust and viola!" He waved his hand. "We part ways as unlikely friends." He put his out for a handshake.
"No, I am seeing those lanterns." She insisted. Fullmetal face twisted into one of frustration and he waved his arms about, annoyed.
"Oh, come on!" He yelled "What is it going to take to get my satchel back?"
Winry held her wrench up to his neck. "I will use this." He put his hands up in defence. The bushes beside them rustled and Winry screamed. She ran behind Fullmetal and jumped on to him, pointing her wrench at the bushes, her body scrambling to stay upright while holding onto him.
"Is it, ruffians, thugs? Have they come for me?!" She yelled, panicked. A rabbit hopped out of the bush.
"Stay calm, it can probably smell fear." Fullmetal told her, his voice void of any emotion.
"Oh, sorry. Getting just a little bit, jumpy." She laughed nervously, and rubbed the back of her neck.
"Probably be best if we avoid ruffians and thugs, though." The blonde man smirked.
"Yeah, that's probably best."
"Are you hungry? I know a great place for lunch." He suddenly suggested. Winry's stomach grumbled, and only then did she realise that she was starving.
"Where?" She asked.
"Oh, don't you worry. You'll know it when you smell it."
Lust was walking around the forest, basket in hand and hood pulled over her head, when Mustang suddenly jumped out of the bushes, smelling the dirt below him.
"Oh, a Palace horse." Then she realised. "Where's your rider?" She looked back in the direction of the tower. "Winry."
She ran. She ran as fast as the wind could take her. As fast as lightning. She tripped on her cloak a few times but gathered herself quickly before continuing. When she reached the base of tower she yelled "WINRY! Winry let down your hair!"
There was no answer. Lust panicked and ran towards the back of the tower, The overgrown vines that were there was covering a secret entrance, and old wooden door. She burst in and ran to her daughters room.
"Winry?" Still no answer.
"WINRY? WINRY!" She continued to yell. Still no answer. She ran around the tower, ransacking everything to find something, some sort of note from Winry to know where she was possibly, or a clue as to where she went or who took her precious daughter.
Winry and Fullmetal were walking around, Fullmetal guiding Winry with his hands lying on her lower back.
"I know it's around here, somewhere." He mumbled, eyes wandering looking for the place he was taking her for lunch. "Ah, there it is. The Snuggly duckling." There was a concerned look on Winry's face. "Don't worry, very quaint place, perfect for you. Don't want you scaring, and giving up on this endeavor now do we?"
"Well, I do like ducklings." The woman chuckled nervously.
"YAY!" He opened the door. "Scar, your finest table, please." Winry gasped. There were ruffians and criminals everywhere.
"You smell that? Take a deep breath through the nose. Really, let that seep in. What are you getting?" He asked her, pushing her through the crowd of rogues. "Because to me, it's part man smell and the other part is really bad man smell. I don't know why, but overall, it smells like the color brown. Your thoughts?" He continued.
"That's a lot of hair." A large man said, holding her golden hair. Winry screamed and ran, her hair flowing through his hands like a river, never stopping.
"She's growing it out, is that blood on your moustache? Goldie, look at this, look at all the blood on his moustache. Good sir, that's a lot of blood." He told the man. He noticed that Winry was looking queasy, as if she'd chuck up a waterfall.
"Hey, you don't look so good, Blondie. Maybe we should get you home. Call it a day. Probably better off. This is a five star joint after all. And if you can't handle this place, well maybe you should be back in your tower." As he was guiding her towards the exit, one of the men slammed the door shut.
"Is this you?" He growled, holding up a poster of what Winry assumed to be Fullmetal, the only difference being the fact that he had a Pinocchio nose.
"Ugh, now they're just being mean." He groaned.
"Oh, it's him all right. Isaac, go find some guards. That reward is going to buy me new glasses." Another one of them said.
"I can use the money." Another chimed.
"What about me? I'm broke. GET BACK!!" One yelled from the back. A brawl broke out, each one of them throwing and pulling Fullmetal about.
"Please, stop!" Winry yelled, worried for his safety and how she would cope getting to see the lights without his help.
"We can work this out." They we're stretching him out like he was some elastic toy.
"Hey, leave him alone." She shouted.
"Please." Fullmetal begged.
"Give me back my guide!! Ruffians!!" She started pulling them off of Fullmetal. She stood on top of one of the wooden tables and screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Put him down! Okay, I don't know where I am, and I need him to take me to see the lanterns, because I've been dreaming about them my entire life. Find your humanity! Haven't any of you ever had a dream?"
All of the thugs looked at her, and then they began to say all of their dreams. One just wanted to find love and have children, another wanted to reconnect with his family again, and one wanted to be a florist. Winry also found out that Fullmetal wanted to know about a gemstone in order to get his limbs back, and to be rich.
"I found the guards!" The guy known as 'Issac' shouted as he slammed open the door.
"Where's Ryder, where is he? I know he's in here somewhere. Find him, turn the place upside down if you have to!" Hawkeye yelled to her guards. The thug with the glasses took them to the back of the place and showed them a secret escape entrance. He signaled for them to go down.
"Go, live your dream." He told them.
"I will." Fullmetal said, nodding to him.
"Your dream stinks, I was talking to her."
"Thanks for everything." Winry said, and kissed him on the cheek before going down the hole. He waved to them and shut the flap.
"I believe this is the man you're looking for." Isaac held up a small man with glasses and a handlebar moustache.
"You got me." He held up his hands.
"Ma'am, there's no sign of Fullmetal." A guard said. Suddenly, the door flung open and Mustang stomped through the door. He started sniffing the floor.
"Mustang. What he's doing?" One of the guards asked.
"A passage, come on men, let's go. Jean, make sure those boys don't get away." Hawkeye ordered. Kimblee elbowed Jean in the stomach and grabbed his spear, breaking Tucker's handcuffs. Tucker then broke his.
"Play it safe. Or go get the crown." Kimblee told him.
Outside of the bar, the short, grey haired man was leaning against the wall, when he saw Lust.
"Ohhh, somebody get me a glass. 'Cause I just found me a tall drink of water." He flirted. Lust covered her mouth as she laughed.
"Oh stop it, you big lug." Her face suddenly fell and she pulled a knife out and held it to the man's face. "Where's that tunnel lead out?" She demanded.

Chapter 4
She pulls the chair out from under the handle of the wardrobe, opening it. Fullmetal flops out and face plants the floor.
Al wacks Fullmetal's face a few times with his tail, trying to wake him up. He fails, and eventually sticks his tongue in his ear.
"AHH!" He yells, awake. He pulls against his restraints.
"Wha..? Is this...hair?" Golden hair was wrapped tightly around his wrists, preventing him from moving in the slightest. He heard a voice.
"Struggling...struggling is pointless. I know why you're here. And I'm not afraid of you."
"What?" Fullmetal raised an eyebrow, confused.
"Who are you, and how did you find me?" The voice asked. Something, or rather someone, dropped from the ceiling, the hair that was restraining him stemming from their head. A figure walked into the light. It was a woman. One with golden hair, shining in the sunlight.
"Ah hah." Fullmetal was in awe. She had gorgeous ocean blue eyes, and a beautiful face to match.
"Who are you, and how did you find me?" She pressed again.
Fullmetal cleared his throat, swallowing the lump that formed there. He was facing the floor.
"I know not who you are. Nor how I came to find you. But may I just say." He lifted his head.
"Hi! How you doing? The names Fullmetal Alchemist. How's your day going, huh?" He gave her a smug smile, and raised in eyebrows, in an attempt to flirt.
"Who else knows my location, Fullmetal Alchemist?" She questioned. What is with this woman and her questions?
"All right, Blondie." He started.
"Winry."
"Here's the thing. I was in a situation, Gallivanting through the forest. I can across your tower and..." The young man looked around in panic.
"Ho, ho no, where is my satchel?"
"I've hidden it, somewhere you'll never find it." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"It's in the pot, isn't it." He deadpanned.
She hit him over the head with her wrench and hid the satchel somewhere else, somewhere he was sure to never find. Under the stairs. Al the stuck his tongue into the man's ear, to wake him up again.
"Ugh! would you stop that?!" He yelled.
"Now it's hidden where you'll never find it. So, what do you want, with my hair? To cut it?"
"What?" He was even more puzzled now.
"Sell it?"
"No! Listen, the only thing I want to do with your hair, is to get out of it. Literally!"
"Wait, you don't want my hair?"
"Why on earth would I want your hair?" He tried to move his hands to talk.
"Look, I was being chased, I saw a tower, I climbed it, end of story."
"You're, telling the truth?" She asked, tilting her head, now confused as well.
"YES!"
She turned away and started to talk to her pet lizard.
"Hmmm. I know. I need someone to take me. I think he's telling the truth, too. He doesn't have fangs! but what choice do I have?" Al was communicating with her using his hands. She turned back to Fullmetal "Okay Fullmetal Alchemist, I'm prepared to offer you a deal."
"Deal?" He asked.
Winry pointed at her painting on the wall.
"Look this way. Do you know what these are?"
"You mean the lantern thing they do for the princess?"
"Lanterns... I knew they weren't stars." She grumbled. "Well, tomorrow evening they will light the night sky, with these lanterns. You will act as my guide, Take me to these lanterns, and return me home safely. Then, and only then, will I return your satchel to you. That is my deal."
"Yeah, no can do. Unfortunately, the kingdom and I are not exactly, simpatico, at the moment. So I won't be taking you anywhere." He pursed his lips, apologetic.
"Something brought you here, Fullmetal Alchemist. Call it what you will, fate, destiny-"
"A horse." He chimed in.
"So I have made the decision to trust you-"
"A horrible decision, really."
"But trust me, when I tell you this." She grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him forward, so that they were face to face. "You can tear this tower apart, brick by brick. but without my help, you will never find your precious satchel." She threatened. Fullmetal averted his eyes, terrified of the woman before him. He cleared his throat.
"Let me just get this straight." He looked back to the blonde. "I take you to see the lanterns. Bring you back home. and you'll give me back my satchel?"
"I promise. And when I promise something, I never ever break that promise." She looked into his eyes. They were so blue. So beautiful. There were oceans inside of them. He could swim in her eyes forever.
"EVER!" She continued and he snapped out of his thoughts and blushed.
"All right, listen, I didn't want to have to want to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder." He smirked at her and made a weird face. His eyebrows creased upwards and he pursed his lips. Winry just continued to glare at the man.
"This is kind of an off day for me.This doesn't normally happen."
The glare continued to ware him down.
"Fine, I'll take you to see the lanterns." He gave in.
"Really!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down in excitement She did a little mini victory dance. Fullmetal fell to the floor, face first.
"Ooops."
"You broke my smolder" he groaned.

Chapter 3
Mustang slid down the cliff side, face first, until he reached a stop. He immediately got up, and took to looking for the short thug once more.
Fullmetal could hear the leaves rustling around him, and a neigh in the distance. He eventually came to a stop, blood rushing to his head, heart pounding, and leant against the stone next to him, hoping to catch his breath. However, that was not the case, as he fell painfully onto his side, the vines that he once thought were covering a rock wall, falling back into place.
He could see the shadow of his chaser outside the green screen that was shielding him from view. When the horse left, he let out a sigh of relief, and took a look around to gather his surroundings.
He was in a small cave, cove if you will, and there was a lot of light coming from the side. He headed toward the light.
He turned his head after checking that he wasn't followed, to see a beautiful view. A huge, gushing waterfall was at the end of the valley, and a small river. There was green grass everywhere and flowers of all kinds as far as the eye could see. There were hundreds of trees, all different shapes and sizes as well. It truly was a beautiful view.
Height in front of him stood a tower. Old, sturdy, and covered in moss and other plants. Though, there didn't seem to be an entrance. Oh well.
There was a neigh in the distance, and Fullmetal ran towards the tower. He clapped his hands together, and using alchemy, he created two arrows. He dug them between the stones of the tower, and pulled himself up to the top.
His breath was laboured once he reached the top, it wasn't everyday that he had to pull himself up a gigantic structure such as this.
The blonde checked his satchel, to make sure the crown was still in his possession and hadn't fallen out on his journey down the cliff side, or up the tower. He smirked proudly when he saw he still had it, and it was unbroken.
"Alone at last." He stated smugly.
However, everything went black a few moments later when he was hit over the head by something. The young man keels over face-first, hitting the ground hard.
Winry stood behind him, wide eyed and panting, a silver wrench in her tight grasp. She looks down at him, and then at Al, who looked at her as if she was saying:
'See if he has fangs!'
She pushes the wrench against his upper lip, pushing it back, revealing, fortunately, no fangs.
Suddenly, his eyes shot open.
"Huh?" He mumbled. Winry swung at him, knocking him out once more. Struggling, she manages to drag him across the floor, over to her wardrobe. After many attempts of trying g to get him in her closet, swinging him in using her hair, shoving him in a few times, she manages to get him in.
She backs away from the wardrobe, wrench grasped tightly in her hands, pointed at the wardrobe.
"Okay, okay, I got a person in the closet. I got a person in the closet. I got a person in my closet!" She swings her wrench around in her finger
"Too weak to handle myself out there, huh Mother? Well, Tell that to my frying pan!" The wrench hit her in the face.
"Ow!"
"Winry! Let down your hair!" She heard Lust yell.
"One moment, Mother!" She yelled back. Winry glanced at the wardrobe, and then went to help her mother up.
"I have a big surprise." Lust announced when she entered the tower.
"Uh, I do too." she replied.
"Oh, I bet my surprise is bigger."
"I seriously doubt it!"
Lust pulled out a vegetable from her basket.
"I brought back parsnips. I'm going to make hazelnut soup for dinner, your favorite. Surprise!"
"Well mother, there's something I want to tell you." Winry grinned.
"Oh Rapunzel, you know I hate leaving you after a fight." She tapped her daughters cheek.
"Especially when I've done absolutely nothing wrong."
"Okay, I've been thinking a lot about what you said, earlier." Winry changed the subject.
"I hope you're not still talking about the stars." Lust warned her.
"Floating lights, and, yes I'm leading up to that."
"Because I really thought we dropped the issue, sweetheart." She continued, giving her the 'don't push it' look.
"No Mother, I'm just saying, you think I'm not strong enough to handle myself out there." Winry ignored her mother.
"Oh darling, I know you're not strong enough to handle yourself out there." She stated.
"But if you just..." Winry tried to reason.
"Winry, we're done talking about this." She demanded.
"But trust me, I..." she tried again.
"Winry." Lust warned.
"...know what I'm" Winry continued.
"Winry---."
"Oh, come on." Winry begged.
"ENOUGH WITH THE LIGHTS, WINRY! YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THIS TOWER, EVER!" Lust screamed.
"Oh, great. Now I'm the bad guy." She shrugged.
"All I was gonna say, mother, is that... I know what I want for my birthday, now." Winry said looking down, ashamed.
"And what is that?" The black haired woman glared at her.
"New paint. That paint made from the white shells you once brought me." She requested.
"Well that is a very long trip, Rapunzel. Almost three day's time." Lust gave her a worried look.
"I just thought it was a better idea than, stars." Winry looked up at her mother.
"You sure you'll be all right, on your own?" She asked, concerned.
"I know I'm safe, as long as I'm here." Winry hugged Lust.
"I'll be back in three days time. I love you very much, dear." She said as she pet her hair.
"I love you more." Winry rested he head on her chest.
"I love you most." She rested her head on her daughters.

Chapter 2
Winry stood in front of her mirror, looking at her reflection, her ocean eyes staring straight back at her. Back at her very soul.
"This is it. This is a very big day, Al." She laughed.
"I'm finally going to do it. I'm going to ask her."
"Winry! Let down your hair!" She heard her mother call from the bottom of the tower.
Winry glanced at Al, her face contorted with nervousness.
"It's time." She said. Al made a few gestures with his hands, letting her know that all will be ok.
"I know, I know." She giggled, amused at his attempt to communicate. She pushed him towards her box of tools. "Come on, don't let her see you."
"Winry, I'm not getting any younger down here." her mother called again.
"Coming, mother." she replied.
Winry collected a bunch of her hair and chucked it through the window, letting it loose to fall down to the ground.
Lust grips it, and ties the hair into a large golden loop, and carefully places her foot in it.
She gives Winry a thumbs up, and the young girl proceeds to use all of her might in order to bring the older women to their home.
"Hi, welcome home, mother." Winry greets.
"Oh, Winry. How you manage to do that every single day without fail, it looks absolutely exhausting, darling." her mother compliments, completely disregarding her daughters greeting.
"Oh, it's nothing." Winry breaths, worn out from having to lift her mother seventy feet in the air.
"Then I don't know why it takes so long." Lust laughs. "
Oh, darling. I'm just teasing."
"All right...so, mother. As you know, tomorrow is a very big day." Winry starts, uneasy.
"Winry, look at that mirror. You know what I see? I see a strong, confident, beautiful young lady. Oh look, you're here too! I'm just teasing, stop taking everything so seriously." She giggles, ignoring her daughters anxious stature.
"Okay, so mother. As I was saying, tomorrow is.." Winry starts again, but she gets interrupted by Lust once more.
"Flower, mother's feeling a little run down. Would you sing for me, dear? Then we'll talk." She demands.
"OH! Of course, mother." Winry quickly grabs her mother's chair and the stool that she uses, and shove a hairbrush into her hands. She clumps a bunch of her hair onto her mother's lap and starts singing very quickly, eager to finish and ask her mother the question she's wanted to ask for a while. "Flower gleam and glow, Let your power shine, Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt, Change the fate's design. Save what has been lost, Bring back what once was mine." she chirped.
"Winry!" Lust gasped.
Winry grasped the side of Lust's chair, rocking back and forth slightly, overcome by excitement.
"So, mother, earlier I was saying tomorrow's a pretty big day, and you didn't really respond, So I'm just going to tell you. It's my birthday! TADA!" she announces.
"No, no, no can't be. I distinctly remember. Your birthday was last year." Lust dismisses.
"That's the funny thing about birthdays. They're kind of an annual thing. Mother, I'm turning eighteen. And I wanted to ask, what I really want for this birthday. Actually, what I've wanted for...quite a few birthdays now..." Winry mumbled.
"Winry please, stop with the mumbling. You know how I feel about the mumbling. Blah, blah, blah,...blah. It's very annoying. I'm just teasing, you're adorable I love you so much, darling." The older women scolded, much to her daughters dismay.
"Oh, I want to see the floating lights." she revealed, telling her mother her dream.
"What?" Lust gasped, in disbelief at her daughters request. Winry continued.
"Oh,... Well I was hoping you would take me to see the floating lights."
"Oh, you mean the stars." Lust realised, finally understanding what she meant.
"That's the thing I've charted stars and they're always constant. But these, they appear every year on my birthday, Mother. Only on my birthday. And I can't help but feel that they're, They're meant for me. I need see them, Mother. And not just from my window. In person. I have to know what they are." the girl explained.
"You want to go outside? Oh, why Winry." she waved her hand at her, gesturing to the whole of Winry. "Look at you, as fragile as a flower. Still a little sapling, just a sprout. You know why we stay up in this tower"
"I know, but..." Winry tried to reason.
"That's right, to keep you safe, and sound, dear. Guess I always knew this day was coming. Knew that soon you'd want to leave the nest. Soon, but not yet." Lust said, disappointed.
"But..." Winry tried to reason again, getting nowhere once more.
"Mothers here to help you. All I have is one request. Winry?" Lust asks.
"Yes?"
"Don't ever ask to leave this tower, again." The woman commanded.
Winry nodded sadly
"Yes, Mother." she mumbled, upset.
"Ahh, I love you very much, dear." Lust squeezed her rosy cheeks.
"I love you more." came the girls reply.
"I love you most. Don't forget it. You'll regret it. Mother Knows best." Lust walks towards the window, getting ready to descend back to the green grass below.
"I'll see you in a bit, my flower."
"I'll be here." Winry mumbled.
The thieves ran through the forest, leaping up and sliding across the ground in order to avoid any branches. They stop before an oak tree, three pieces of paper pinned to it.
"No, no no. This is bad, this is very, very bad, This is really bad. They just can't get my nose right." Fullmetal complained.
"Who cares?" His black haired comrade asked, growing more and more irritated at his antics.
"Well it's easy for you to say. You guys look amazing." He groaned
"All right, okay. Give me a boost, and I'll pull you up." He demanded.
"Give us the satchel first." His companion ordered.
Fullmetal gave him a look of hurt and disbelief.
"Wha..? I just... I can't believe, that after all we've been together, you don't trust me. Ouch."
He put his hand on his chest, shaking his head in disapproval. How could they not trust him? Sure, he's a thief and betrays most people he knows but still?
He took off the satchel and dropped it onto Tucker's arm.
The two larger men sighed and Kimblee bent over into the hard terrain in order to hoist the younger man up. His brother climbed onto his shoulders and Fullmetal climbed up their frames, being sure to 'accidentally' kick them in the face a few times as he made his climb.
Fullmetal grasped at the top of the tiny cliff side, and used all of his remaining strength to pull the rest of himself up. He looked down at the two below.
Kimblee glared at the man.
"Now help us up, pretty boy."
Fullmetal shrugged, smirking at him, eyes full of amusement.
"Sorry, my hands are full." He showed him the satchel, that was now swinging from his pointer finger, dangling in front of them mockingly. Like he had said earlier, how could they not trust him?
"What?" He checks himself for the satchel, finding it missing "FULLMETAL!" Kimblee's voice could be heard in the distance, full of rage. Fullmetal stumbled into a trail and ran down it, as fast as the wind, with the State Alchemists hot on his tail. The lieutenant looked at the others.
"Retrieve that satchel with any force."she ordered.
"YES SIR!" Came the replies as the got their guns out and shot at Fullmetal. Just before they made contact with him, he managed to slide under a huge birch log, narrowly missing the bullets. He gasped and turned around to see the bullet holes in the log before he was running again.
They kept shooting at him as he was dodging them, weaving through the thick trees until eventually, they made it to a huge tree with many big holes in it. Fullmetal jumped through the hole while the alchemists and their horses couldn't fit through the holes in front of them.
They moved however, when they're lieutenant came charging through, and leapt straight through the middle, not even bothering to look back or to help her teammates.
Hawkeye made eye contact with her horse.
"We got him now, Mustang." she said. He neighs in response.
As Fullmetal turns the corner, desperately looking for a way of escape, he sees a vine, and grabs it, launching himself into the air. He swings around the tree it was attached to, and kicks Hawkeye off of her horse. Instead of her on the back of the horse, he now is. Realising that he landed on the horse, Fullmetal attempts to grab the reigns and make Mustang gallop forward.
"Go! Heyah! Come, fleabag, forward." Mustang was having none of it, and flung himself forward in order to get rid of the thug.
"No. No, stop it. HAH! AHHHHH!"
They continue their game of cat and mouse, Fullmetal running and Mustang chasing. The horse eventually manages to get the satchel off of Fullmetal, but unfortunately it flings too far, and lands on a very thin branch, held by a bigger, not so sturdy branch.
Fullmetal crawls on the underside of the branch, determine to get his satchel back, while Mustang is walking across carefully, trying to pry Fullmetal's hands off, and grab the satchel as well. The branch was creaking and cracking continually while they were both on it. The thief managed to grab the satchel with his hands, but soon after, the branch snapped, and the both of them were falling down the cliff.
Fullmetal hit the ground with a thud, his backside hurting tremendously, but he had too much adrenaline running through his veins to care. He quickly got up, ignoring the pain, and the aching in his back, and ran as fast as fast as the wind could take him.

Chapter 2 Masterlist
Chapter 1
"This is the story of how I died. Don't worry, this is actually a very fun story. And the truth is, it isn't even mine. This is the story of a girl, named Winry. And it starts, with the sun. Now, once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens." A voice narrated.
A golden droplet falls from the sky and hits the ground, a soft glow spreading through the soil.
"And from this small drop of sun, grew a magic, golden, flower." It continued.
The glow grew into a beautiful, colourful flower.
"It had the ability to heal the sick, and injured."
An old, hunched over woman climbed towards the flower, hobbling.
"Oh, you see that old woman, over there? You might want to remember her. She's kind of important."
The old lady reaches for the flower, her wrinkly hands opening to grasp it. "Well, centuries passed and a hop skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved King and Queen. And the Queen, well she was about to have a baby, and she got sick, really, sick. She was running out of time. And that's when people usually start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower."
The elderly women returned with her lamp, it emitting a faint green glow. "Ahhh, I told you she'd be important. You see instead of sharing the Sun's gift, this woman, the homunculus, Lust, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself young for hundreds of years. And all she had to do was sing a special song."
"Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine. Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine." Lust sung.
"All right, you get the gist. She sings, she turns young. Creepy, right?" The narrator speaks.
A guard stumbled up the hill, head-turning rapidly in search of a cure. His eyes widen as he sees the gleaming flower.
"We found it!" he yelled, calling his comrades to come join him in digging up the flower.
"The magic of the golden flower, healed the queen. A healthy baby girl, a princess was born. With beautiful golden hair. I'll give you a hint. That's Winry. To celebrate her birth, the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky. For that one moment, everything was perfect. And then that moment ended."
Lust, obviously aged, jumped over the castle bannister, slowly pushed the humongous nursery door open, and crept into the room.
Winry is sleeping softly the whole time in her crib, unaware of the decrepit women in her room. Lust slowly reaches into the infants crib, and softly grabs a strand of her hair. Reaching into her cloak, she pulls out a pair of glinting scissors.
"Flower, gleam and glow, let your powers shine, make the clock re----"she gasped, shocked about a few strands of the baby's hair, that had turned brown, and let it drift to the mattress, completely useless and drained of power.
"Lust broke into the castle and stole the child. Just like that... gone. The Kingdom searched and searched, but they could not find the Princess. For deep within the forest, in a hidden tower, Lust raised the child as her own."
In a large tower, hidden away from the world, Lust sat at her throne-like chair, gingerly pulling a brush through the child's gorgeous, golden locks.
"...save what was lost, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine." Winry sung, looking at the flowing flames in the fireplace.
"Lust had found her new magic flower. But this time she was determined to keep it hidden." the narrator recited.
"Why can't I go outside?" Winry inquired, curiously.
"The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower?" Lust demanded, ceasing to brush the young girls hair.
"Yes, Mommy." the child answered.
"But the walls of that tower could not hide everything. Each year on her birthday, the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky in hope that one day, their lost Princess would return." the voice pursued.
A green chameleon ran out onto the windowsill, and ran to hide behind a flower pot. He camouflaged himself to match the flower pot, in hopes that no one will see him.
Winry shoves the curtains to the sides, letting the light shine into the tower.
"HAH! Hmm, Well... I guess Al's not hiding out here."
Al chuckles slightly, under the impression that she hadn't seen him. Something then suddenly fastened around his ankle. Something soft. Something silky. Something gold. And then it yanked. And Al shrieked.
"GOTCHA!!! That's twenty two for me. How about twenty-three, out of forty-five?" Winry requested as she turned to look at Al's pouting face.
He shakes his head no, declining her request.
"Okay, well, what do you want to do?" Al points his jade tail out the window, indicating that he wants to go outside. "Yeah, I don't think so. I like it in here and so do you." she points at Al. He pouts.
"Oh, come on Al, it's not so bad in there." she points towards the inside of the tower.
A top a giant castle, leaping across the ultramarine tiles, three figures stop and stand, one shorter than the others, younger too.
The young man leant against a pillar, his golden hair flowing in the wind. "Wow! I could get used to a view like this." he awed, irritating the two behind him.
"Fullmetal, come on." his accomplice demanded, his long black ponytail taken by the wind.
"Hold on. Yep, I'm used to it. Guys, I want a castle." The man known as 'Fullmetal' beamed.
"We do this job, you can buy your own castle." the man said, or rated at Fullmetal's inability to take the mission seriously.
The young man walks over to the open window that leads into the hall which contains their treasure, with confidence in each passing step.
He reaches the window, and is hoisted down by his two allies for the mission, as he is the smallest of the three, although he is the least trustworthy. Why else would they trust him, a petty, thug?
The alchemist standing in front of their goldmine sneezes and, being the obvious comedian he is, the blonde just has to make a joke.
"Oh, hay fever?" he jokes, amusement laced in his voice.
"Yeah." the alchemist replies and turns to look at Fullmetal, but to his surprise, he does not see him dangling from the ceiling, holding on to the pedestal for support, that he's sure is worth much more than his life, and the crown resting in his hand.
"Huh?" The alchemist takes a double-take, unsure of what he saw. He turns around fully and his eyes widen as he sees that the crown his gone. A wave of panic sets in as he looks around frantically, until he look up, and catches a glimpse of Fullmetal's boot leaving the window.
"Wait, what? Hey, wait!" He yelled
The short man an his two taller associates leapt between the rooftops. The two were getting very annoyed with Fullmetals constant chatter.
"Can't you picture me in a castle of my own?" Fullmetal asked, amazed at the idea that he could be as rich as a man could ask for. "I mean, I certainly can. Oh, the things we've seen and it's only eight in the morning. Gentlemen, this is a very big day."
