City Ruins

A short story for my BATIM Saudade Apocalypse AU.

Burning buildings loomed above the cracked and empty streets. A gentle breeze blowing through shrubs and grass. Water dripped off the broken roofs from yesterday’s rain. The sun reflecting off the puddles.

Abandoned cars scattered the roads. Rusty and forgotten. Nature yearning for the products of mankind’s eventual decay into dust. Skeletons of the past laying buried behind.

Animals scurried around. Undisturbed and unprovoked. With no living around, they could easily wander into cities and towns now. Their presence seemingly making up for the lack of life.

Lifelessness had overwhelmed the world. Spreading from city to city. Country to country. Humanity failing. They couldn’t stop it. Even now, it’s still spreading. There’s no cure. Not yet. No one has found it.

Echoes of Humanity still lingered, despite everything. Millions of empty shells roaming the world. Searching for their next meals. Reduced to soulless creatures. Monsters. The undead. Forever wandering in city ruins.

Yeah I know it’s bad.. sorry. I know it’s stupid. I was feeling a lot of confusing emotions while writing this. I needed to take my feelings out on something so I just wrote this. I’m sorry. I know it’s garbage. I’ll delete this later so it won’t bother anyone. I don’t want to upset you guys.

I know I should be focusing on writing the actual story for the Spinoff AU, and that I need to work on finishing more stories for the main AU. I’m sorry. I’m just terrible.

Some days is hard to be patient with the babies.

Honestly, as a Reylo shipper, I do get how it's toxic

I got so used to Fanon Kylo Ren/Ben Solo that I'm used to him actually learning how to be a good person and facing the consequences of his actions. There's a clearer depiction of his inner pain and conflict that made him so interesting to me.

If you're a casual viewer that doesn't read fanfic though, you don't get the same character development, you don't get that earned redemption. You get a cheap death and a forced kiss from two people who repeatedly tried to kill one another.

I fell in love with the potential of these characters and stayed in love with what wonderful artists and writers have done with them, not the actual canon.
