Dont Overthink The Future. Have Dreams, Have Plans And Strive To Make Them Come True, To Make It Happen.
Don’t overthink the future. Have dreams, have plans and strive to make them come true, to make it happen. But take life as it comes. Don’t obsess over the future. Life won’t always go your way. Overthinking and obsessing over it won’t help, it only increases you in worry about something you don’t even know will happen. Take every day as it comes, appreciate the blessings in it and focus on the positive. Things will eventually mess up either way and you’ll have to deal with it. But until then, take life as it comes without obsessing and worrying over it.

“No more apologies for a bleeding heart when the opposite is no heart at all. Danger of losing our humanity must be met with more humanity.”
— The Source of Self-Regard: The War on Error by Toni Morrison

There my heart lays sweetly in the velvet moor // Part 1
Things that take time & many tries to get right:
learning to be a good friend/partner
healing from depression, failures or heartbreak
becoming amazing at an art or skill
overcoming anxiety, insecurities and low body image
overcoming the need to isolate yourself
changing self-hating thoughts to kinder ones
making a real connection with someone
overcoming self-defeating and self-sabotaging thoughts
learning how to study effectively
finding a sense of stability and calmness at your core
quitting habits or addictions
leaving people and behaviours that turn you into the worst version of yourself
getting used to healthier coping mechanisms & mindsets that feel fake
treating yourself like you truly care about yourself
becoming the person you always wanted to be
Perfectionism leads to dissappointed always!
an encouragement for my fellow students!
idk who needs this but listen here:
i was an honor student all my life. highest weighted grade, class president, athlete, you name it–i had it all.
until my final two years of high school came and the combined pressure of getting into my dream uni, moving to a new school, making memories and making sure my senior year was as memorable as possible, and the pressure of being perfect finally consumed me. the two years i needed wanted that one thing so bad were the years i didn’t get it.
i graduated with average grades and without honors.
i let it affect me severely. i thought to myself, that’s it. all my years of hard work down the drain. i will never amount to anything ever again. i cried about it for days and let anxiety and fear take over my life.
months have passed since my high school career ended. and you know what? i don’t remember it. my previous classmates don’t remember it. my parents don’t remember it. i got into my dream uni and i promised myself to just be.
be present in your studies. be at peace with yourself. be in touch with your own needs. let yourself be.
you’re tired and need to rest? let yourself be. go and rest. do that thing later.
you’ve failed that one important test? let yourself be. process your emotions. find out where and why you went wrong. try again.
you feel like you’re drowning and just want to shut off and disappear? let yourself be. take some time for yourself so you can regroup. come back later. take responsibility for it.
accept that you’re being, and take it from there. it may feel like the end of the world, but it’s not. you’ve got your whole life ahead of you. it’ll only be the end once your time on earth is up. until then, you’ve got to let yourself be.
What really matters are good endings, not flawed beginnings.
Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله, Minhaj as-Sunnah (v. 8, p. 416)
