Death the Wolf and Love the Fox, First meeting ?

Headcanons

○ Love can transform into an anthropomorphic fox or a human with fox ears and tail. Love is usually seen in her human form, using it to disguise herself as way to help and guide mortals. Both her human form and fox form are described to be lovely and rather beautiful, to which she responds that everyone is beautiful.

○ Love has a lot of names, she is most often called Lisa in russian, Amar and Zorra in spanish. Because she is based off of the Russian Kuma Lisa, she often calls herself Lisa, Amar was an affectionate name given by Muerte.

○ Lisa met Death/Muerte a long time ago, in a little town where a tragedy had happen. A lot of loved ones died, so she was comforting the ones who lost them. She was in her human form, covering her ears using a hat and using her skirt to hide her tail. She heard his whistle one night and thought nothing of it, then she heard it the next night, and the night after that.

○ After the fifth night, she decided to see who was whistling, since everytime the tune is heard, she noticed more people die. So she followed the tune to try and see who it was and why they are doing it. However, she was only able to see a large shadowy figure.

○ It wasn't until a few days later, when she was working in a tavern as a barmaid in a different location. She turned around to get a bottle only to be startled when she saw a large hooded figure sitting on the stool. She was startled because she didn't even hear him arrive, which suprised her since she has extremely sharp hearing. Love noticed that the other patrons had become silent with the newcomer's presence. It wasn't long before they started to leave the tavern, leaving her alone with the stranger.

○ Muerte was rather curious about the fox who has lived longer than most without aging at all. At first he thought she cheated life or she had taken an immortality spell. Turns out, the ability was gifted to her without her consent. He wanted to see for himself if she wasn't wasting or taking advantage of her ability. He wasn't expecting anything spectacular out of her, maybe just her being shallow or something, but boy was he wrong. He did not know the mess he was getting himself into.

Or in which Muerte just wanted to check on an apparently immortal fox but found himself in the mess that is the journey of love.

Ren Family Drinking Headcanons

- Hakuren was the kind of drunk that hugged everybody, sang at the top of his voice, and climbed up onto the highest places he could find because fuck you, I’m invincible! Also was the lightest lightweight that ever did lightweight, but refused to admit it. Any function that involved alcohol usually ended up with Hakuyuu chasing him around trying to get him to stop:

Hakuyuu: REN NO IF YOU DRINK THIS MUCH YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FUCKED IN THE MORNING

Hakuren: (chugging an entire bottle of wine) UNFORTUNATE

Hakutoku: (to Hakuei and Hakuryuu) You know how your big brothers are supposed to be setting an example for you two? Well, I want you to look at this nonsense and remember it when you get old enough to drink.

- Hakuyuu was like Captain America: he could hold his liquor like a god damn champion. He saw it as a sign from the universe that it was his duty to handle his family’s drunk shenanigans.

- Hakuryuu doesn’t know it, but he inherited his “crying emotional drunk” tendencies from his father. Drunk Hakutoku was also very affectionate; the first family member he saw would end up stuck in a very long bear hug while he rambled on and on about how great they were. 95% of the time, this happened to a very unamused Gyokuen:

Hakutoku: (holding her in his lap and petting her hair) LOOK AT MY WIFE SHE’S SO TINY AND SO PRETTY AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH <3 <3 <3

Gyokuen: (starts to think that killing him might not be such a bad idea)

Hakuyuu and Hakuren: Aww, having fun there, Mother? :)

Gyokuen: (glares the fires of hell and damnation at them)

Hakutoku: (sees his sons) JEWEL, LOOK AT THEM, LOOK AT WHAT WE MADE! OH MY GOD, WE MADE THOSE, REMEMBER WHEN WE DID THAT?!

Gyokuen: Yes, Toku, I regret it every single day.

- Technically, Gyokuen doesn’t drink, but has been known to throw some liquor into her tea when dealing with particularly stressful situations.

- Like her father and brother, Hakuei cries when she’s drunk, but it’s not that she gets emotional, she just gets very overwhelmed by everything. You know that one video where drunk girls get surprised with puppies? That’s basically her:

Hakuei: (crying while holding Hakuryuu and Seishun like their lives depend on it) I’m like a single mother in here, I can’t, I can’t! I shouldn’t have drank whiskey, I can’t protect them!

Hakuryuu and Seishun: (look at each other awkwardly because they still don’t know how to deal with this shit)

Hakuryuu: Uh… (pats her shoulder) There, there?

Hakuei: (starts SOBBING)

Seishun: Nice going, Hakuryuu.

Hakuryuu: Oh, shut up.

- Kouen doesn’t always get drunk, but when he does, he will fight anyone and anything. This includes but is not limited to: pillars, hedge sculptures, a cow, his bedroom doorknob, and Koumei. He’ll end up going around muttering, “I am the fucking strong,” all night, and walking into things a lot. When he’s one of the sober ones, though, he usually takes it upon himself to throw his drunk siblings over his shoulder and carry them safely back to their rooms to sleep it off.

- Kouha enjoys drinking contests, only because he can drink everyone in the palace under the table, no sweat. His girls are very proud of him. Kougyoku still thinks she has a chance of beating him, so challenges her brother more often than she probably should. The two of them enjoy sweet, fruity drinks.

- Koumei doesn’t like alcohol, because it’s poisonous to birds. He must protect his birds.

- Bonus: the only alcohol Judal will ever touch is peach wine, but if he gets his hands on any, he will drink all of it, no matter how much. Since ridiculously powerful magician + alcohol + complete lack of fucks to give = disaster for all involved, it’s agreed that the Magi should be kept sober at all costs, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way. Hakuryuu usually takes it upon himself to be drunk!Judal’s handler (half because he’s concerned for everyone’s well-being and half because he sees Gyokuen in the background just about ready to use Sheba’s staff like a baseball bat on poor unsuspecting Judal, and he figures that there’s got to be a less painful solution), but always ends up frustrated and near tears and yelling for Hakuei and Seishun to help him out. You try to catch a drunk asshole with magic powers, who can fly away from you every time you get close. It is hard.

Of course anon! I love me some angst to fluff. I switch between Death and Muerte to avoid confusion.

Embracing Death

Death comes for everyone, no matter who they are or what they do, their life will come to an end. Death will come knocking at their door and collect them, whether they like it or not.

And it was true, Muerte did not discriminate who he takes. Rich or poor, human or animal, he collects their souls to the afterlife. He is the grim reaper, a force of nature who is neither good or evil. Muerte enjoyed what he does, especially when he collects the souls of sinners.

But he has seen tragedies too. Many times he has collected souls of the innocent, souls whose lives ended before their respective times. Muerte doesn't think of himself as soft, but taking the souls of children, young animals and creatures, it weighed heavily on him. He can't interfere with the living too much, otherwise he wouldn't be Death.

And Love noticed. She always did.

Normally, Muerte returned home with a satisfied smirk on his face. Pleased with himself for taking a soul who didn't value and appreciate their life.

But tonight she noticed his broad shoulders slumping with his head hung low, his expression blank. However, his crimson eyes showed his turmoil. He took off his hooded cloak and placed his sickles on the bedside table before sitting down on the bed, his ears flat against his head.

He was hunched over, his forearms resting on top of his thighs. He didn't even look up when she approached him, slowly moving to sit beside him, leaning her head on his arm.

They stayed like that for a few minutes, silence covering the room.

Muerte sighed deeply, "Lo siento mi amor. Ha sido un largo día."

She hummed in response, caressing his bicep.

"No need for apologies, moy dorogoy. What got you so down tonight?" She didn't want her beloved to keep all his negative feelings inside, otherwise it will leave him in a much more foul mood.

"....I had to collect four young souls today, mi amor. They were siblings, abandoned by their own parents." Muerte scoffed at that, those two don't deserve to be called parents for what they have done. So many people who want to have children but cannot, and yet those pedazo de mierda have the audacity to not value the lives of their own flesh and blood.

It makes his blood boil.

"That's terrible, they're terrible and I know you despise people like them, moya lyubov'. But think of it this way; the children are free from them and you brought them in a better place." She tried reasoning with him.

He stayed silent.

All she can do is stay by his side, until he feels better.

This wasn't the first time this happened and most definitely would not be the last. They don't need to talk, all they need was to be close together. Sometimes, Death needs a warm embrace, and Love happily gives it to him.
